I'm sure u have all heard about how people think social websites are dangerous for teens. I know a lot of you have My Space accounts and fool around there alot. What do you think?
Are they dangerous?
Should they be banned at public libraries like ours so that kids/teens are "safer"?
What are some ways you can be safe on sites like My Space?

i dont think they should its just that you should have to be older than 14 or somthing to have one cuz i see a lot of young-er kids having one

you shouldnt ban myspace because any thing were you interact with other people has the same threat and you have to be really stupid to tell really personal info like street address

www.saveyourspace.org is an online petition that you can sign to help let our government representatives know that we don't want these sites to be banned from libraries. They also have/had a list somewhere about the websites that seemed to fit the description given. Gaia was one of them, but Runescape hadn't made the list.

only 14 or 15 and up should be aloud.
too many younger kids have one.
my evil stepmom (who i dispise!) gave my 7 year old brother and my 6 year old sister one!
no one that young should have one!

werewolf524 speak for your self im 13 scream But you lie about it. And I agree very much that 6 and 7 year olds are too young for social networking sites. And actually, isn't it against the rules in most cases?

That young people with little world experience are communicating with people they don't know and might want to hurt them. Do you thinks its safe for say a 12 year old to be on these sites?

NO NO NO exclaim ya there is alot of weirdos out there but alot of us dont have any other way to talk to there friends and if the library actually did that alot of people wouldnt be able to talk to each other. cry
