The sun was shining bright in the sky to show clearly that it was midday. It was the hottest time to be up and about and any sensable animal knew it. And Kisho was far more then just sensable. He had found himself a spot to rest under a tree with wide branches along the bank of a watering hole. He had patroled the area already earlier in the morning and hunting had been the previous evening, so he had yet to grow hungry. So he had done the reasonable thing-picked a place to nap. The body needed rest, after all.
He had lay down on his belly, the best positon one could get. For it left the ears and nose alert and the body ready to move at any moment. He let his mind wander for a bit, sleep not coming right away. And even if it were to-he was a very, very light sleeper.

It was true that midday was the worst time of day to possibly be out and about, and that fact was finally starting to wear upon Lela'bahari. Her pink tongue hung doggedly out of her mouth, and her steps had become increasingly sluggish. If she had been a smart canine, she would've been with her pack right now, resting in the shade with her siblings and waiting for dusk. But no, the young female was a restless spirit, and she took every opportunity to seek out a new journey. It just so happened the midday was the best time to sneak out.
Ears flattened to her head, her blue eyes tried desperately to find either shade or water. Imagine her surprise when she spied both on the horizon. Her senses slackened from her weariness, Lela whimpered and mustered all her energy to lope towards the sizable watering hole she saw just ahead. Noisily, she broke grass and twig alike with her paws, reaching the bank in a flurry of dust and fur. Lela slid to an abrupt halt, the upper half of her body lurching forward. Perhaps it was the intense rush of adrenaline and blood to her head, due to that lurch forward, or maybe it was the heat and length of her journey taking it's toll, but as soon as the tips of Lela's paws reached the water, she gave a final grunt and her legs gave out right underneath her. Eyes closing, the brilliant day suddenly went all black.

Kisho heard the noise like thunder. What in the world WAS that? He wrinkled his nose slightly in distaste and let his eyes slide open. His crimson gaze saw the light of day just in time to see a wild dog crash practically head on into the watering hole. Oh dear, this was going to be another long day. He let out a sigh and stood on all four paws, feeling slightly irratated that he had to get up with the sun blaring as it was. But that was quickly pushed aside, for emtions did not rule him, reason did.
He certainly couldn't let a random wilddog die on his doorstep of heatstroke without knowing anything about them. It could lead to pack conflicts, or something else messy. No, he'd have to see what was up with this stranger and assess the situation more clearly.
He moved over to the other and as he drew near noted she was female and around his age. All rather irrelavent information in his mind. He lifted a pack and prodded her with care, "Are you concious?"

In all fairness, Lela was rarely that loud. She was the quiet sort, but desperate times called for desperate measures. The quest for water had certainly been one, yet Lela was regretting that decision to bolt towards the shimmering, beautiful, heat-curing substance. At least the heat wasn't bothering her that much. Instead, she was swimming in a nice pool of blackness. She didn't have to think, she didn't have to feel, and she even thought she didn't have to breath. Or maybe that was because she couldn't?
When the paw touched her, her nose tried to inhale a breath of air. All it got was water. The blackness receded at a startling pace, and Lela shot up, gasping in huge breaths of air. Blue eyes wide, she stumbled backwards a few steps before she tripped over her own paws, her rump landing harshly on the ground. The female sneezed several times on impact, her ears flapping violently with each ticklish sneeze.
It was then she noticed the other canine. Eyes squinting (either from water or dust), and nose stuffy, her voice came out rather clogged. "Ooo arr yoo?"

"Apparently so," Kisho said with simplicity. Well, she seemed in good health for the most part. That was good. The only thing left to do now, really, was to question her about her pack. She smelled of one, but he couldn't tell if they were nearby with her or not. No matter how strong they were in numbers, it was always good to have a good supply of information and forwarning if things could not be solved peacefully. Though he honestly belived that anyone with half a brain was capable of compromise.
"Are you out here alone?" he asked in the same, distant voice. He didn't even bother to answer her question.

If it was one thing Lela seemed to lack, it was common sense. In truth, she was a very friendly, curious canine, and so was never really suspicious of anyone. To any other young female, his last question might have sounded a little...creepy, if that was the right word. Most would have answered with a firm 'no, I'm not alone'. Lela simply pawed at her nose a moment to force the excess water out, then gave her answer. "Yes, I'm making a trip to the Pridelands," she said. Tilting her head, her brow crinkled. "Honestly, though, I don't really know where I am. I sort of...wandered off course." The blue and black female turned her nose to the ground sheepishly.
She could easily smell other wild dogs on the male in front of her and on the earth around her. She really hoped she hadn't wandered onto another pack's lands without permission. It could potentially land her in a ton of trouble. Either here or with her mother.

Technically she had, for this was currently his packs hunting grounds. However, since she was alone it mattered little. She was no threat to them so they would leave her be. He nodded his head, accepting her reasponse to be true. "You are just a little south of the pridelands. You are basically there, since the distance between here and there is so minimal," He informed her. It was stupid not to tell her where she was, for as long as she kept going it was assured she'd keep out of their fur.

Lela had never been talented with knowing when she was supposed to take her leave. She had the horrible talent of being rather chatty, and much too inclined to just sit about and talk all afternoon. It all came from being much too curious for one's own good. Swishing her tail in a friendly manner, she perked up. "Your pack lives near the Pridelands? Do you have much contact with lions?"
At this point, Lela hadn't seen a single lion on her journey (that would, of course, change in the future), and she was fit to burst with questions about them.
edit adding an ending post
Seeing that the male was unresponsive to her excited questions, Lela's ears flattened to her skull. Her tail thumping pathetically around her paws, she spoke. "Sorry to be a nuisance. I'll be on my way then..." The young female rose to her paws slowly and began a lazy walk in the direction she assumed was the way to the Pridelands. She paused, glancing over her shoulder once. Her tail wiggled over her back in a farewell before the wild dog eased her pace to a steady lope. It was going to be a long day.
