"How long has it been since I've been alone?" a silver pelted lone jackal asked herself as she padded along. She was entering a new place, greener grasses, a large silhouette of something in the distance. The sun was high here, and welcoming, she wondered where she really was.

"A new day has begun, I wonder what awaits me this day under the sun," she had a habit of rhyming things quite a lot. It was strange, but it did happen after all. She smiled ad flicked her tail, walking through the grasses after picking up a scent of one of her own.

Kaede flicked her tail while she sunbathed a little ways from the den. She was tired lately after giving birth to her 'cubs' and figured a little peace and quiet under the warm sunlight might be a good idea. SHe smiled and rolled over onto her back, warming her stomach with the rays. It really was a good day.

Though her ears flicked when she heard paw steps, she rolled over onto her stomach and looked around. It couldn't be Goma...who was it then? What if they would harm her family! Her mind was making it seem like the worst could happen, though she tried to stay calm to see who indeed was approaching.

Light blue hues settled on a golden form, a smile on her maw now. "Hello their friend," she said loud enough so the other could hear, and know she was not a threat. At least for now she was not a threat. As she got closer, she sat back on her haunches, tilted her head at the other.

"I am Anokai, what might your name be who's golden color I have seen?" strange to rhyme she knew, but she couldn't REALLY help it. Habit from when she was a pup.

"Kaede," Kaede said dryly. This lion seemed so odd, so strange she was. Perhaps she had been chosen to be stuck in a body like Goma and herself? "What brings a lioness as yourself this way? I do warn you, that this place has many more in its borders, and do not wish for harmful intruders."

Kaede just didn't want any trouble, especially when she was so close to her den.

"Harmful? I am anything but..." she lied. Truth lies behind these eyes she mused to herself. She was nice, but if another annoyed her, she would put them on her list. None should not like her, or else they would pay. That was what Anokai's moto was. Like me or like nothing at all...

"And a lioness? Dear, we're jackals not lions..." she said giggling to herself. So strange to see a jackal who thought she was a lioness!

"You believe what you wish, I know the truth. My mate and I are lions indeed, as well as our 'cubs,' we're stuck in these bodies, but lions we are, do not tell me different, for I know what I am." Kaede said with a huff and a flick of her tail. The nerve of others trying to tell her what was what when she knew the truth already!

The nerve!

Mmm, a family?"I see, believe what you wish, but you cannot be as fierce or as strong as a lioness even if you pray to the gods." Anokai said to Kaede matter of factly. Anokai would show her, oh yes she would. "Do not doubt my word, you should remember it, not push it away."

The nerve of the golden one to not listen to me...oh well, over time she will see.

Kaede huffed, stood, and growled somewhat, "The gods cursed my mate and I, even our family, do not speak to me any longer, or you shall see the wrath of my heart upon you." Kaede turned her head from Anokai and padded off towards home. Her babies and mate were waiting for her.

It was time to go home again.

Anokai snickered as Kaede padded away, "She will learn the truth someday." With that she turned, and left for another place, "Perhaps I shall see someone with a frown upon their face."

She'd rather enjoy that.
