Huh... It seems to me that this guild is getting a wee bit inactive, so what could be better than a nice psychology chat?

So, although I am a student, I am a huge psychology buff, and luckily (or not), I have a brother with high-functioning autism. I've also been reading a lot on schizophrenia, BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder), Manic-Depression, DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder), and OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), but I digress. My main specialty is Autism, and the spectrum disorders, and my main problem is, I tend to overanalyze people, sometimes to the point where I'm convinced they have Asperger's, or something. Does anyone else do this with other disorders, or am I just paranoid? XD

I have a friend who diagnoses everyone we know with OCD. He has OCD and I sometimes think he's obsessive compulsive about being obsessive compulsive. It's strange.

I wish I had never really learned about psychology. It's messed up how I think.

I worked in a SD class for awhile and an autism clinic, I loved it, but after taking some developmental courses I do somewhat overanalyze people. Plus I am majoring in Psych and am convinced that there's no hope for me.

No hope? That's sad... *tear*

What branch of psychology are you going into? I think I'm going to go into clinical, but I'm not quite sure...

My entire family has a mental disorder of some kind. Except me... sometimes, I wonder, though sweatdrop

There are days when I'll hear about some kind of psych disorder and it symptoms and I immediately see which ones match-up to myself. There have been times when I've connected with so many symptoms that I could have sworn I had the disorder.

PS. I don't actually have any psych disorders...not unless acting like a seven-year-old counts

I'm not sure what branch, I know I am not into the research part, but I like most of what I am studying, probably some sort of counseling, maybe with kids, still undecided. If I am not hugely into debt, I am thinking about going on for my masters.

That's good... I think i'm going to go more into the clinical side, and maybe specialise in Autism and the spectrum disorders, and stuff like that, although I enjoy very much reading about the higher end diseases like Schizophrenia and DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder)

I like psychology. I've taught myself how to empathize with people so well, that when I'm absorbed in figuring out what they're thinking/why/ect I sometimes forget that I'm not them. It's amusing and fun. If it's possible for you to post internet resources about psychology topics/disorders/ect, I would be overjoyed.

aside from wikipedia? XDDD

um... i don't know many sites, but if you're interested in reading about psychology, then read anything from Oliver Sacks, a world-renowned Neuro-psychologist. I also recommend Temple Grandin, an autistic biolo-something-ologist XD... she's a very good writer, and gives good insight into the world of autism.

Sometimes I wonder if I've got some kind of disorder, but then, that could be because I tend to think of things in metaphors. It's really quite strange, especially when I'm trying to think of ways to remember my Geometry lessons, and my tutor is staring at me like I've grown a kangaroo from my nose as I fumble metaphors around to remember properties. Example: In a rhombus, the diagonals meet perpendicularly to form a right angle. My metaphor/idea is: the diagonals MEET, like two people meet, and when two people meet they have a baby, which is RIGHT. Because babies are teh shizzle.

See what I mean...?

I have SDD.Species Dysmorphic Disorder, but I'm really a tiger therianthrope and they simply want to give a scientific explanation for it.
