After an hour Victoria gave up and stared into the hearth, lost deep in thought.

Clad in black, red and gold, sitting in the far corner of the Gryffindor Common room was a large red arm chair, facing towards the wall's corner. If one took enough time to peer around, they would see a young girl, with ocean blue eyes, and long red-gold hair sitting with a book gripped in her hands. She was staring at the pages with utmost concentration, and seemed to be enjoying herself immensely.
Silvia Warren was her name, she wasn't well known, or well liked, no one ever took much time to talk to her. She was considered a bookworm, but dispite her love for books, she had an adventurous streak. Having a love for learning and obtaining knowledge wasn't all bad-was it?
Growing up in a Muggle family wasn't a terrible trifle to her, but the Slytherins had made it known to her that it made her a worthless bit of slime. Crude comments, however, seemed to rub right off of her, most of the time, she tried to ignore what other people said, and would make friends with older people. She hadn't really considered it, but being the youngest of 8 children made her grow up, somehow. None of her family members, nor any relative that she could remember of, had been either a witch or a wizard. Finding her oceanic eyes beholding a Hogwarts letter, was enchanting-but then again, she had always had a pull in her for something else.

Victoria was quiet, staring at the flames as they flickered. Her eyelis drooped, and she fell asleep.

Silvia quickly peered around her chair, then, holding her book tightly, she stepped from behind her chair and walked, with her backpack in hand to one of the tables. It was by a window at the other end of the common room, a perfect area to study. She put her bag on the table and sifted through its contents with great passion and attentiveness. She pulled out a potion book, and a history of magic book, with them several pieces of parchment and several quills and inkwells. Gently setting the large books down, she leafed through them carefully, as if to preserve, and lovingly handle her book. She found what she was looking for and began doing the required homework for her potions class.

Silvia excelled in potions-she adored potions. Mixing the correct ingredients, tweaking them ever so slightly to make a perfect brew. Eagerly her quill in hand flew across the parchment as she wrote notes on the ingredients they would be using the following day in Potions class. After only a few short minutes she had flown through nearly two large pieces of parchment, and was soon onto her hisory of magic homework. History wasn't quite her subject, but she found it interesting in the wizarding world, the different people who'd brought magic about. Slytherins found this extremely distasteful, for in class she always asked questions, studied hard, and her hand was always in the air. Growing up as a muggle made her want to study magic as hard as she could. She took up her other quill when she remembered the previous day that some slytherin had broken it to make her angry, hardly sneering she had taken her quill back, in hopes of repairing it. Now she looked at its broken fragments, took out her long slender wand and muttered "Repairo" and it mended itself. She smirked, and continued writing about the history of magic, doing extra studying on the next chapter that they hadn't even reached yet, she had nothing else to do but read, and she might as well get ahead.

Victoria slowly opens her eyes and yawns. She looks at the clock drowsily. "Oh no! I'm late for Care of Magical Creatures!" She says, grabbing her bag and rushing out through the portrait of the fat lady. A minute late she runs back in, up the stairs to the girls' dormitory, grabs her new bottle of colour changing ink, and runs back down through the common room and back through the portrait.

Victoria walked in and headed up the stairs and dropped her books on her bedside table and flopped onto the bed.

Silvia leafed through her bag, and found three, thick leather bound books she had got from the library earlier. She eagerly chose the larger of the three, and opened it, her eyes jumping across the page. A small bundle of fur suddenly wedged its way onto her lap, and she looked down into the golden eyes of Shadow, her youthful black cat she had only got just before school started. Slowly she massaged the back of the cat's head, as it purred, stretching it's claws into her black uniform. The light grew dim, and Silvia decided against using her wand for light-she put it away and frowned... thinking.
She had done all of her work, and she could hardly wait for the morning, yet she wished it could happen without sleep. Silvia highly disliked and distrusted sleep. It took her hours to get to sleep, and when she finally did, she was plagued through the night by strange dreams. It was well into the night when the storm began, thunder bellowing outside of the castle, and arks of lightning racing across the dark sky. Pelting rain threw itself at the window, and she listened to the rumbles and sounds. She didn't turn around, but she could tell someone was up there with her-she didn't tell anyone, but she had distinct cat-like senses, and she found it odd, yet helpful at times. Intently she looked at the wall before her, and stroked shadow, who had grown suddenly edgy.

Victoria grabbed her homewrok for Quidditch History and headed down to the common room. She chose the chair closest to the fire and opened her books.
