Cozy comfortable rooms each containing about five average sized (bigger than a twin size, yet smaller than queen) four-poster beds, with each students' respective trunk placed in front. A desk and dresser/wardrobe for each student to use at will. The colors that decorate the dormitories are of respective houses: a rich gold and warm red for Gryffindor; a calm black and inviting yellow for Hufflepuff; a cool Blue and soft copper for Ravenclaw; and a smooth green and relaxing silver for Slytherin.
The dorms are separated by gender, girls on left and boys on right, also divided depending on what year the student is at current moment.
Stairs that lead towards the female counterpart dorms are jinxed in a way that no male shall ever enter. Girls have permission, so to speak, upon entry to their counterpart's dorms. As for the walls of one's dorm, it would clearly depend on where it would be located, simple castle walls with a few lamps lit against them for Slytherin, whilst wall ands window for Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Gryffindor, due to either being in the towers and dungeons.

Leonnie walked in and realised she was the first person there. She smiled to herself and flopped down on her bed. She remebered that last year she was the last person to arrive.
She reflected on how much she'd changed scince she'd last been here. Leonnie unpacked her stuff and pulled out a magazine while waiting for everyone else to arrive.

Lily steps into the dormitory. "Hi, Leonnie!" she says cheerfully. She walks over to her bed by the window and puts her stuff on the floor next to it. She picks up her kitty kennel and opens the little door. A fluffy, snowy white cat steps out and gazes around the room for a moment before it leaps onto Lily's lap. Lily strokes Lenokee happily, and she purrs loudly. "I'm so glad to be back at Hogwarts! It's been so long since last year," Lily sighs.
