Queued proposals shall remain here until promotion to discussion in the Current Proposal thread. Only one proposal shall be discussed at one time, and will be debated on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Not perfect, but I think we can start debate off with this...
biggrin All guild members wishing for a position as a moderator shall submit their name to the stickied "mod application" thread. smile Any current mod who sees the post shall put the applicants name at the bottom of the first post in the thread. (Herein, this list shall be the queue) redface The applicants shall serve one week terms as moderators, 5 members at a time.(Herein, the terms shall be referred to as cycles.) crying After the current cycle has ended, the five members whose names appear below the name of the last serving moderator shall be given the status of moderator, while those serving in the previous cycle shall have their status revoked. stare when the last name in the queue is reached, return to the name at the top, and start over. xd Members may ask for their names to be removed from the queue at any time by making a post stating such in the mod application thread.
On that note, should people just throw whatever proposal they have in the current proposal when both topics are clear, or should we limit it to (current) mods?

Apockreatr On that note, should people just throw whatever proposal they have in the current proposal when both topics are clear, or should we limit it to (current) mods? I thought the passed proposals had new proposals going into Undiscussed Proposals, and a council member would bump the oldest one to Current Proposal each time it clears up.

CapitolAnarchy http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=1310494 Check that out. I really like the zine idea. I don't think we need to have a passed proposal for some GULAG members to do up a zine. If you want to, go ahead.

I totally agree. GULAG isn't a political advocacy group (though it has advocates), it's not here to convert or build a stronger base of anarchists. It's sole purpose is for people to discuss anarchism or even the most loosely related topic.
If you want to express yourself via 'zine, then do it! You don't need some official rubberstamp to voice your thoughts and opinions on anything.
Someone should figure out all of the variables in the gaia slots, gaia fishing, etc. games and hold Anarchist Workshops! XD See, something like that doesn't need to be extensively organized and planned by all the GULAG members. It's something that you can just grab a few pals and start to do.

I'd like to post the following proposal for debate and questioning, just as a bit of a formality concerning the issue of the council: Amendment 1: The council should contain 10 members rather than 5 with 2 of the 10 given the anarchoadmin account password.
This could be plausible as a non-established government, as the 10 would originally be selected as voices of the people, therefore they would represent the opinions of all the members of the guild. This would make the job more inclusive and prestigious, but it would also make the members think a bit more before nominating a person for the council as they would be their voice in one other particular matter.
This matter would be the selection of the two council members given the anarchoadmin password. There would most likely be a debate over whether concensus or majority rules would be used in deciding the two that have access, but I would go with concensus as long as the council is reasonable in their decisions and isn't just out for themselves, but rather the good of the guild as a whole, which they should be anyway.
This would also eliminate a large portion of the security issue, as only two of the mods would have access to the admin account, which, in the case of a deletion of the guild, would MAJORLY narrow down the search for the culprit.
I know, it resembles a congressional board, but it seems feasable for what we're trying to do here with this forced decision making system of gaia. It also provides an amount of security for the guild, therefore ensuring the overall well being of the guild.
Also, its not as if the two people given the password would make all the decisions. Everything would be carried out as is now, with a consensus on all new proposals by the members of the guild. The only reason for the two people having a password would be increased security.
Obviously I'm doing this because of the attacks on the guild, as well as the issue of how many guild members should be on at once, as well as the length of the term. After 5 months we could cover 50 members, that's a lot, especially considering the people would nominate them.
It seems to me that getting nominated is a goal for people to look to to be more active because of and due to.
If there's any debate, I'd be more than happy to discuss it, and if you can't understand me quite well enough, I'd be just as willing to converse on that.

Hmm, this may not seem quite as political, but maybe we should place some subforums on the site, such as music, politics, humor/zines/newsletters, etc.
If anyone's willing to support the idea, I would be happy to donate the money for the update.

I got 12k gold sitting there with nothing to do, I'd also donate if the proposal passes.

I motioned for the two year old proposal in the "Current Proposals" thread to be tabled (again). That either needs to be resolved or sent back to this thread after being reworked so that the logjam can be freed up and we can be somewhat productive again.
