I noticed that Secret Rose Gardens appeared in alot of lesbian stories as of late. Mostly anime/manga and now in a video game. In all they deal with two characters meeting up in a secret garden where they fall in love. I decided to look this up and discovered that the Secret Rose Garden is from a book written in the 1300's and this poem was written in it.
"“I” and “you” are but the lattices, in the niches of a lamp, through which the One Light shines. “I” and “you” are the veil between heaven and earth; lift this veil and you will see no longer the bonds of sects and creeds. When “I” and “you” do not exist, what is mosque, what is synagogue? what is the Temple of Fire?"
Basically the story is about two people from different religouns falling in love and that nothing could keep them appart. Nowadays it would seem that the garden represents true love and that nothing can keep two soulmates apart no matter who they are. Be it two females, two males, two people of different faiths and anything. I felt this was interesting and wanted to share it with you all to see what you all thought.

It's a bueautiful way to phrase the age old justification for loving someone in a way to different from the designs of the people in charge. A love that's not even unusual considering it's numbers, yet still shunned.
But in the real world I believe it's necessary to have poems like these, well-spoken and ageless, that can reverberate with the hearts of people and let them know that their trials aren't new or lonely ones. It's nice that the poem is being referenced in such a conscious manner. Nice find. 3nodding
...now, I'm going to get off of my soapbox and hope that I expressed myself well without seeming like an intellectual butt-head.

That poem is very beautiful and makes me want to write a love story where my characters might in a Secret Rose Gardens.

Hmm, that's really quite interesting! Also specifically applying to lesbianism would be the yoic symbolism of roses, and how they "bloom" and such. Actually, my first bet would have been the symbolism of the entire ordeal.
That's quite the interesting allusion. whee
