Introduction-Storyline
-------------------------
Japan

"A geisha is an artist. But more, she is a warrior. A warrior who will protect her pride and fight for her rights and respect."

"No! Let...me...go! Stop it! Let me go!"

Voices of a child rang out in the night, but drowned by the storm the sky cried that night. The child kicked and screamed as she was torn away from her family. A shove! A sharp pain in the neck. Darkness closed in on her and when she tried to scream this time, she found she couldn't even utter a word. The little girl was unconscious.

---

Along with four other young girls her age, the little girl was brought to Kyota, Japan, far away from their families. The four young girls had been forced into a very, very small carriage. If you tried to imagine, try to paint a picture where everyone's knees' touched and you could feel the breath of the next person.

The girls were sleeping when their carriage came to a hault. For the past three days, they had been stuck in this carriage with only bits of left overs to eat. Not enough to keep their bellies satisfied.

A man pushed the flap of the carriage aside and grabbed one of the four girls by her arm. He had a firm grip, but his hands were rough and hard on the girl's soft ivory skin. He dragged her out and a second man appeared, dragging the rest of them.

"Let's go!"

The man had a scruffy voice, a terrifying face, and very tired eyes. The girls, without any more strength left to fight or protest, complied.

As the girl's got out, they found that they were in front of an Okiya(Sp?). It was lighted inside and it looked warm, cozy, and welcoming. But to the girls, it was a house of terror. Yet, they stumbled after the men and headed towards the house. The rain was pouring, soaking their thin clothing, causing them to shiver.

The girls were shoved into the house and before they were brought deeper into the house, they caught glimpse of an elderly woman, stuffing wads of money into the man's hand. Never have they in their poor lives have they ever seen such a great amount of Yen.

---

A week after their arrival at the Okiya, the girls learned that they had been sold to the owner of the House of Geisha. The owner was a middle-aged woman that they were to call, "Oba-san", meaning Grandma. She fed and paid for the clothes on the girls' backs. The girls in return, did house work and every time they did wrong, they were beaten and punished. The girls believed that they were destined to serve this House of Geisha for the rest of their lives, but little did they know, Oba-san had more ideas and quite a larger imagination. These girls would all be put into Geisha training when they were thirteen.

But, Oba-san had no clue that a Geisha right beside her, in the same house, with sweet and kindness, will try to ruin her plans. This one Geisha has no intentions of letting the next person succeed. She is, after all, the Geisha of that generation. Her kindness will mask her lies, but will it help her succeed in her plans? Or will she be seen through? As the journey for these four girls continue, they met new people such as men. Soon, they will find themselves in love, but at war to become the best and to stay a true and honorable Geisha. Will friendships last or fade out by fame?

The House of Geisha

The house isn't awfully big. It's a fairly-sized, two story home. Upstairs, there are three rooms. The largest one, of course, belongs to Oba-san. The room always seems to smell like tabaco. The next room down the hallway would be Ichiwari's room. She never allows any of the girls into her room. Ichiwari's room is filled with make up and designer kimonos. It was always a mess in there. Quite dark and stuffy too.

The next room, across from Ichiwari's belonged to no one. Even though it was just an extra room, Oba-san wouldn't allow the girls to stay in there. The room was reserved for an "unfound" Geisha. When Oba-san finds another Geisha, she will adopt her as her own and the room with be hers. Secretly, one of the girls set that as her goal. She wanted to be the one that gets rewarded with that room, but her dreams don't seem to be bright at all.

Behind the house is a small yard and a backhouse. The backhouse is where the housekeeper and the girl's stay at. The living room was obviously in the front and their dining area was towards the back of the main house. There's a small kitchen, a bath house and that's mainly all of the whole house.

[This is all so far. More will come soon.]

After been dragged away kicking and screaming, Miyuki was knocked out and stuffed into a very small carriage along with the other three girls. Ever since then, Miyuki hasn’t heard from her parents or any news about them.

She spent her days scrubbing the floors of the House of Geisha and did chores for Oba-san in return of clothing and food and a place to sleep. Miyuki is kind and gentle, but her tongue is sharp as a blade. She speaks with cleverness and brilliance. Although she is kind, Miyuki is very straight forward and direct. She never hesitates to tell you what she thinks. Miyuki is stubborn and a hard worker. She always tries her best in everything.

Character Name: Fumimaru Kisuit (Oba-san)
Age: Sixty-four

She took these words and etched on her heart and forever became hardworking and dedicated. Sold by her family for money when times were harsh, she soon became a Geisha for her dignity, beauty, and soothing voice. When the time came, she was picked as the next woman to run the House. Still holding her dignity and beauty…her voice as turned stern and strict and no longer soothing at all.

Her business flourished even more than the previous and her girls became well-known as did the money. Stern, yes…but she is protective of all of her girls and will not tolerate any actions that may harm the House or them.

Appearance: Grandmother Knows Best

Username: lilcocobon
Character Name: Ren Shizuoka
Age: Sixteen
Gender: Female
Biography: As a child, Ren was taken from her family due to the fact that they could not pay off their dues towards some very powerful and persuasive people. She was therefore sold to the Okiya to help pay off her family's debt. Though she feels proud to be helping her family, she can't help but often feel resentment towards the fact that she had to be sacrificed.
She has an innocent soul and is quiet and soft-spoken and is often the one who bends herself to make others happy. One will often find her being bossed around by Ichiwari, as she will not protest to any of the woman's requests. She practically lives to serve.
However, though Ren may seem slightly emotionless on the outside, deep down, she has a mind of an artist. She often day dreams and at times, will write things on pieces of paper she finds lying around the house. Most of her things are very poetic, and she enjoys being able to write. She has a collection of Haikus that she keeps in one of her drawers.
And to address the emotionless statement, Ren was punished a lot, having taken beatings for people in her home because it would make them happy and would make them like her more. She was always taught not to be feeling towards anyone other than her "family". She knows she couldn't love because she was to be a Geisha, and lucky for her, she hasn't been introduced to any heart-skipping men yet.
Appearance: Ren stands at about 5'4 and weighs in at around 110lbs. She has a very fragile looking figure, with slender curves in all the right places. At first glance, she looks innocent in an almost divine way, having milky-white, smooth skin.
However, one would say that the most prominent feature she has would be her eyes. If looked at closely, they are actually a beautiful amathyst color with golden sparks in them. They hold mystery in their depths, and her parents would always claim that they could get lost in their daughter's eyes.
She has a beautiful pearly white smile to add to her own beauty, and a kind laugh to accompany it.

Miyuki "Yuki" Osaka was dressed in a plain ivory kimono. It wasn't fancy. It was just one layer, tied together
with a white, silk sash. Her hair was tied halfway up and the rest just cascaded down her shoulders. Miyuki was dancing in the living room,
practicing her dances. She was already a geisha, but her sister told her that there was much more to do before she becomes an actual geisha. Miyuki continued with her practices in the House of Geisha.
She knew Ichiwari was home and that made her quite nervous. Ichiwari had always had something against her.

It started that one time when Miyuki had snuck into Ichiwari's room. She had stole some of Ichawari's
make up. It was only because she was curious of how she would've looked with make-up on. But Miyuki had learned her lesson to stay out of Ichiwari's room and out of her way. Ichiwari always looked for
reasons to pick on Miyuki. Her self-esteem had been lowered by Ichiwari's threats, but fate hadn't allowed her to fall. Fate had determined her to become a geisha. On her first day at the Tea House,
she found that many men had taken fancy in her. This had made her take in a little more confidence and lately, whenever she spoke to Ichiwari, she spoke with edge and strength.

Miyuki knew today was her first day serving at the tea house. She was nervous, but her friends had reassured her that she was ready. Miyuki began to practice her dance routine. Miyuki always found peace while she danced. But still, deep inside, Miyuki woundered if she would ever find her
danna. She heard a stomp of feet upstairs and her fans nearly dropped out
of her hands. Had she awaken Ichiwari?

The sound of footsteps dancing on the wooden floors made the well-known Fumimaru raise her head. Blinking, her dark chocolate eyes scanned the room and realized she was behind her desk. Realizing she must have dozed off, she mentally scolded herself as she straightened the papers on her desk. This whole entire day was making her quite tired and she knew it was due to a certain young girl who was about to enter into the beginning of her true path of being a geisha.

Remembering the sound of the dancing footsteps from downstairs, she slowly rose to her feet and headed toward the door. A slender hand reached the knob and opened it as Fumimaru began to head down the stairs. It was odd to hear such a noise at this hour; they at least had quite a bit of time before the customers came in. Reaching the bottom step, those dark eyes spotted Miyuki.

“Miyuki, why on earth are you gapping at me like some fish?” she scolded as a frown settled on her lips. “Did I teach you to act so rude?” Fumimaru went on as a hand rested on her hip in a sign of dominance. Sometimes she wondered about little Miyuki. But...she couldn't say Miyuki was a child or little anymore... After all, she looked like a grown woman despite how childish her heart may be.

Miyuki was staring at Fumimaru with wide eyes. She folded her fans and quickly stood straight. She bowed respectfully. She had always feared Fumimaru. She is, afterall, the owner and the one that paid for everything she had. Miyuki was too terrified to speak. What would she say if she could speak anyways?

"O-Oba-san," she stammered as she stood up straight. She looked at elderly woman. "I-I was only p-pr-practicing my dancing."

Miyuki didn't dare look at Fumimaru. There was always this fear that took over her body when she saw Fumimaru. But really, truly, deep inside, Miyuki wished Fumimaru would adopt her and treat her as her own daughter. Miyuki had been taken away from her family and her parents...she didn't even know where they are at the moment. She only wishes that she has a family to belong to. And she would be utterly grateful if Fumimaru adopted her.

Fumimaru watched silently as her dark chocolate eyes watched Miyuki bow. Well, it seemed the girl had some manners in her. A roll of the eyes were given as Fumimaru placed a hand on her hips in a silent way of saying she was growing impatient. Finally hearing those stammering words, Fumimaru gave a long and hard stare at Miyuki before giving a sigh.

“If you want to make so much noise, do it some where else,” the older woman replied bitterly. “I’m trying to work and I hear the sound of a duck flopping on my form,” Fumimaru went on in a dry tone. “Be more sure of yourself, Miyuki, or I might as well toss you in the streets right now,” she added. With a silent shake of the head, she moved forward and lightly straightened up Miyuki’s attire before giving a nod in content.

“It’s almost time for the customers to come. Remember your manners and be prepared for anything,” she warned before walking back toward her office. That girl still had a lot to learn and Fumimaru had a hunch today that Miyuki might get a taste of reality.

Miyuki listened as Miyuki spoke to her. She stood as still as a statue. She nodded when Fumimaru told her that she should practice else where. Miyuki continued to listen. She became a bit frightened when Fumimaru said she would throw her out into the streets. It seemed to her as a threat. When Miyuki was finished, Miyuki let out a sigh of relief.

A very young servant girl began to help Miyuki take out her make-up, hair pins, and accesories. Her kimono was hung by the wall. Miyuki knelt before her mirror and the young servant girl began to help her powder her cheeks. A thin layer of white powder had been put on. Her lips were painted a peachy color and her eye brows were drawn. Before Miyuki disappeared behind the screen, she looked at the young servant gir. Miyuki smiled as she lifted the girl's chin up.

"What's your name?" she asked the girl gently.

"Keiko," the girl whispered. Miyuki smiled at her and sighed.

"One day, you'll become a beautiful geisha."

The young girl grinned from ear to ear as Miyuki disappeared behind the screen to change. She stripped off her plain ivory kimono. The servant
girl began to help her put on the kimono she would be wearing to the Tea House. It was a pale lavender color with silver blossoms threaded from the
bottom of the kimono, winding up along the front and back. Keiko helped Miyuki tied her purple silk sash. Miyuki looked at herself in the mirror.

She was finally ready. It was almost time. Before she left her room, she pinched her cheeks for some color.

[[ I'm not very sure where to start, so you can correct me if you like... ]]

Ren was also practicing in her own area for tonight. Like her friend, Miyuki, she would be persoming and helping at a tea house just down the street. But, she didn't have to worry too much about being ready too soon, as it was a couple hours after Miyuki's.

Her footsteps, unlike Miyuki's, as Oba-san would comment, were light and sof, like Ren's personality. They had the sort of motion of falling rain, graceful yet strong. Water. Her sister, Izuko, the Geisha she had been an apprentce to, had told her she had a strong heart and mind, yet she was soft on her feet. She had given her praise for it, and Ren had accepted it humbly.

She continued, the whisper-soft patter of her feet dancing across the floor as she opened her fans and dipped a little, throwing one up and catching it. She had been practicing for weeks now, and she had become fairly good at it.
