 C-C-Cccccooooooooollllldddd.....
Lightning struck and thunder boomed. Rain poured and poured, seeming like it was never going to stop. Dirt formed into puddles, which formed into small streams, which formed into small rivers. The wind howled, branches and leaves of trees flying all about, smacking into each other. No animals could be seen around for miles. After all, what kind of animal would even think about coming out in this storm?
Unfortunately, even though one could not see him very well, there was one, shivering animal out and about. Hiding in a makeshift hole in the trunk of a dead tree, a gray maned wolf with white markings and deep, blue eyes shivered mercilessly. His fur was drenched with water and his ears lay limp upon his head. His once fluffy tail was wrapped around him, now sopping wet with rain water.
Quietly sneezing, this poor wolf sat and shivered in the tree, watching the storm rage on, only being pelted with more rain water, as well as some mud, leaves, and twigs from the surrounding trees. He was a filthy, cold mess... But no one was around to help him in any way...

Amaterasu lunged desperately at an antellope. Desperate times called for desperate measures, after all. She hadn't eaten in a while, and her pups had been living on mice. She ignored the numbness in her paws from the cold, or the extra weight on her coat from the rain. She used the light from the lightning to hone in her attack, and the thunder to cover her own noise. However, her hunt was unsuccessful, and the antellope lept away to safety, leaving Ammy to fall belly-first into the mud. Her white coat was almost all brown from the mud, except for the tips of her ears, which remained black.
"Looks like I won't be able to make it home for a while," Amaterasu said to herself, scanning the horizon for some shelter. She quickly spotted the tree and sat herself on the other side of it, shaking the water and mud out of her coat and yawning loudly. She was still getting wet under this weak shelter, but it didn't matter much to her.

Deep, blue eyes scanned the hazy plains, looking for someone or something that just may of came this way, but the only thing he saw was a slightly hurt antelope, bounding away. As his ears had perked up in hope, they dropped when he saw the prey, whining slightly. He felt as if he had no hope of survival... For eventually, this rain would kill him with a horrible cold...
Sniffing some, the male scratched slightly at the mud beneath his white paws, just now noticing that they were now a very, dingy brown and black. His ears twitched and quivered some, the cold wind snapping at them with rage, bringing more rain and sharp obstacles. Trying to cover his ears with his muddy paws, the wolf looked outside again, just hoping that someone or something was out there... Again... And yet... No one was there. Feeling tears burn his eyes, the wolf stood up slightly, walking out of the makeshift hole and stood in the rain, his fur becoming even more wet than it already was. Looking down at the ground, claws came out slightly, trying to grip the mud that flowed beneath them.
Then, quite suddenly, the maned wolf's head jutted upwards, a deep, long, and sad howl ringing out from the bowels of his throat. His ears were laid back and his eyes were closed, the howl continuing. He could only hope that someone else would hear him and come to help... He could only hope.

Amaterasu jumped at the howl on the other side of the tree. It was unexpected, and it rang out over the thunder... She hadn't scented a wolf nearby! She hadn't used her seer powers either, though, and she found that she was becoming fairly dependent on then for present-tense visions. Perhaps this explained why she hadn't sensed him; she promised herself she'd cut back on the visions.
Amaterasu peeked around the corner to confront the other wolf. "I'm here!" She yipped so he would hear her over his howl and the storm.

Yipping himself as thunder stuck and some strange voice called out to him, the male maned wolf quickly turned around, his eyes wide with fear, but also with curiosity. As soon as he turned, he had spotted who had called out to him, making him smile with such happiness. On the other side of the tree, soaked almost as badly as he was, was a white, maned wolf. The wolf had silver eyes with black patches around it's eyes. It also had black ears and a single black spot on both of its shoulders.
"Friend!!"
Immediately, the male ran over to this other wolf, nuzzling it happily. He didn't care if it was a male or a female. He was just happy that someone else was here, and that he wasn't all alone.

((Actually, the mark is only on one of her shoulders. XD Impossible to tell with adult MW lineart tho. ^_^ )) "Hello there," Amaterasu chuckled, a bit surprised. She wasn't expecting such affection for simply existing, but who would turn it down? She nuzzled him back. She was glad to see she wasn't the only one dirty from the storm, this male was also covered in mud. At least she didn't have to be self-conscious.
"I'm Amaterasu," She said, pulling back and dipping her muzzle slightly. "Ammy for short, if you please." She awaited an introduction from the male, and was content that he wasn't of poor temperment.

((Ah. Well, I was just going with symmetry. XD))
Bowing his head in respect towards the female, the male wolf raised his muddy and soggy head, still smiling.
"My name is Eloy. If you wish, you may call me El, but that is up to you. It's quite a pleasure to meet, especially out here in this weather. If I may ask though.. What brings you out here?"
Cocking his head slightly, he shook his head off some, the shaking going all the way down to his tail, water spraying everywhere. After feeling his dry fur suddenly become wet again with the heavy downpour of rain, he yipped to his new friend to rush back inside of the dead tree, just so they wouldn't be wet while talking.

Ammy followed Eloy into the tree, which was surprisingly large inside. Unfortunately, the opening was on the wrong side, and the wind and rain simply came right on in.
Ammy shook off as much as she could before entering. At least the rain was helping to clean off the mud, much of her coat was back to it's snowy-white gleam, with the exception of her paws.
"I'm out here hunting for my pups, really," Amaterasu said once they were both settled. "It's been a while since we've last had a big kill, and they're really in need of something bigger than rabbit... How about yourself El? Any particular reason you're out here?" She asked, striking up conversation.

"Your pups?" he asked. "You don't look much like a mother. You're rather skinny and you still look beautiful. How did you have pups?"
Shaking his head some, the male tried to remind himself not to be so nosy. He tended to do that, and all too often. Trying to get himself back on track, he decided to answer the question she had asked, thunder booming quietly outside.
"Me? I'm just wandering around, mainly. I have no real place to go. I'm not one for making, or even keeping, friends. For some reason, I just can't do it all that well. So, I tend to just travel, following wherever my heart leads me. Apparently, this time anyhow, my heart led me right to you, which seems rather odd, don't you think?"

Amaterasu chuckled at the compliments. The last tongue that had given her those was forked. The father of her pups had promised her that he wanted a family too, and would be her mate for life. He'd help raise the pups, etc. Ammy thought she had found a way to get the family she'd always dreamed about. However, once he got what he wanted, he ran off, never to be seen again. Just thinking about it made her fume every time...
Either way, she was fairly reluctant to open her heart again. She knew she'd have to eventually, but... Was now the time? What would little Taka and Ukabe think? They may have been his pups, but they were more Ammy's. She loved them, and would die for them... Would they believe her if she told them that any mate she found was their father?
She shook her head and brought herself back to the present. "I suppose," she said. ...But anyone can say sweet words, she thought to herself. Eloy seemed like a nice enough wolf, but when it came to love Amaterasu was going to be as cold as ice... It'd take a real fire to melt her anymore. Her distrust may well leave her lonely... Although deep down she would rather die than be alone. She allowed a troubled look to come across her face as she reminisced.

Seeing the sudden change in her expression, the male wolf sort of leaned forward, looking at her face, and wondering to himself what had caused her to change to quickly like she did.
"Hey! Are you alright? What's wrong..? How come your face changed so suddenly? If I offended you, I'm quite sorry, for I honestly didn't mean to. You just don't look like a mother wolf to me.. That's all. Of course though, if you have pups, nothing will change that. I'm sorry..."
Slightly whining, the male looked at her with saddened eyes, whining a little bit more. He didn't think that his comment had been so hurtful, but of course, his words always seemed to flow before his brain could think. He just hoped that he hadn't ruined a new friendship.

Amaterasu snapped herself out of it and directed her attention at the male. "Oh, no! It's not you!" Ammy said, bouncing back, a bit mad at herself for having given the male the idea that he had been the one to enrage her. "It's just... The father of my pups ran off on me, after promising to stay for a family..." She looked down, that pained look crossing her face again. "Not you," she said, hoping the male would understand.

Whining a little bit more, the male kindly nuzzled the side of the female's face, looking into her silver eyes with his own blue ones.
"It's alright. I'm afraid I don't understand, completely, even though I have no parents of my own. I'm quite sorry for your loss. I'm sure your pups are rather confused about things as well, as I know I was when I was young. Still, things will turn out well if you stay with them and explain to them what happened. After all, what ever colors or markings they have on them will most likely not look like any mate you may choose in the future, so they would have to know the truth about their father sooner or later, right?"
Lightning suddenly struck, a bright and crooked flash lighting up the blackened sky. Thunder followed directly after, making the ground and the dead tree that kept them partially dry, shake all around them, giving the male maned wolf a slight fright. Quickly, and rather suddenly, Eloy yiped, whimpered, and snuggled up to Ammy, shivering, from both the cold and the sudden thunder that occured.

You know, you'll live your life alone if you keep it up like this, Amaterasu scolded herself in her head. Think of the other males you've met, all of those that aren't your pup's father. They were nice, they even had families of their own! Are you going to let that scoundrel take from you a mate? You've got to let it go, not all males are like him!
Amaterasu shook her head. Of course, she was right. She thought about having a vision, but... it didn't seem entirely appropriate. She'd leave this path in the paws of fate. She put her head under Eloy's, loosening the reserve she'd been holding for so long... It felt good to be able to be herself. She shivered from the cold quickly, and didn't say a word.

Shivering as the female wolf put her head under his own, Eloy smiled some, his head resting atop hers. He'd never been this close to another wolf before, and that really said something, considering he was a loner. Still though, to feel some sort of warmth, despite the freezing cold rain and wind, the male just had to accept it, feeling much better than he had earlier.
"Hey.. Are you alright..?", Eloy whispered quietly into her ear.
