I've been waiting for a chance to talk about them. Here goes:
They're awesome. I honestly have to say they are the greatest Thrash band out of the 21st century. They are truly resurrecting thrash. I hope to see them sometime, I'm sure it would be an awesome show.
Okay, put your favorite song by them and then whatever else you have to say. Mine is Anthem (We are the Fire).

first of all, trivium isn't a trash band. it's metalcore. that means something that they have to much breakdowns or something like that (i will find some decent explanation).
the metal fora is having daily topics about them and they have many fans 3nodding
but i never liked them, i don't really like their music. and when i saw them live is really disliked it, the whole public was just standing there, doing nothing..

They toured with Iron Maiden in Europe last year. I saw Maiden with 3 Inches of Blood, another AWERSOME band.
And it is a very common misperception that they are Metal core. I've heard a lot of people say this, but just because they are from the 21st century doesn't mean they are metal core. A lot of people get the terms New and Nu mixed up, and believe that every band now is either Nu-metal or metal core. What would you say if Trivium came from the 80's? You would call them Thrash. Their sound is largely influenced by Metallica and other 80's Thrash, but now because they are new, they are constantly mislabeled. Their sound is composed of a strong intro, followed by a verse, then it usually has a progressive sounding breakdown, then back to very heavy. Just because they use breakdowns doesn't make them metalcore, it is a technique, and as I've said, if they were from the 80's you would call them thrash. I've listened to (and own) their entire second CD and i would without a doubt call them thrash. (and so does Guitar One Magazine, if that means anything)

magazines aren't that good in genre's. like metalhammer, they call everything battle metal of pagen metal confused never read any guitar one, so i won't say anything bad about it.
this is what wikipedia tells us: Metalcore (Earlier material) Thrash metal (Recent material) alltho wikipedia starts the trivium artical with: metalcore influenced thrash metal.
so we are both a bit right.
btw don't start about the tour with iron maiden, i heard some very bad stories about that tour in england, like people throwing things at trivium and singing all togetter: "death to false metal". but i think it's just the new generation..
it's not bad music, its more the way they bring it. they miss a whole show if they play live and they are calling themselves "the new metallica" wich is a bit wrong in my opinion. sweatdrop

They were called the "NEW" Metallica for a while after Ascendancy, but after the Crusade was released they gained more respect. It is the older generation unwilling to accept "New" so they replace it with "Nu" and to me, "Nu" means false. I hate Slipknot, Limp Bizcut, and all that crap, but it is Nu-Metal. And Wikipedia doesn't know everything, but I agree with that. Genre labeling isn't that important, but I believe they are influenced by Metalcore, but ARE Thrash, as wikipedia says, but i agree with you.

un doesn't mean it is bad. i like more nu-metal then i like metalcore bands, thats just my opinion. as long as genres doesn't say that they are 100% metal etc. that just pisses me off for some reason. and i dislike band who have to much 13 year old fans who only see mtv 24/7 sweatdrop
btw who is screaming in trivium? in the video clips you can see that their singer is screaming, but live is saw the bass player do all the screaming..

in the booklet for "The Crusade", It has Matt as lead guitars and vocals, and doesn't site anyone for backing vocals, but I know someone else has to in Detonation and other songs. I would think it would be Corey, but I'm not sure. (Corey's the rythm guitarist) Did the guy singing have long hair, or a nearly shaved head? Paolo, the bassist, has short hair.

That's cool. I've always liked Trivium, they have a lot of guts to be Thrash today, with everyone turning to Hardcore crap, it means a lot for a teenager to be into metal now, we are definetaly a minority, but not a silent one. Thankfully, every metalhead is easily distinguished, and not afraid to wear the band shirts and denim. Where I go to school, I'm honestly afraid of being shot or jumped because of the way I dress, but I won't stop dressing like that. I was walking down the hall in one of my Iron Maiden shirts and some Mexican guy says "Iron Maiden Sucks!", so I turned around, flew the bird and shouted at him "F*** You!!!!" It wouldn't have surprised me if he brought 20 friends and jumped me...

Trivium is the only Thrash band I know of that started in this century though. Metallica is coming out with a new album by the end of the year, but they are an old band.
By the way: PLEASE DO NOT USE CHATSPEAK!!! Read my banner please.
And Hardcore is not metal. I only like metal or classic hard Rock, but not hardcore. And Trivium doesn't really have hardcore, just heavier vocals, and on the album I can understand everything that is screamed. Just like Death Metal isn't hardcore, Trivium has no elements of hardcore. And Thrash/Metal + Hardcore = Metalcore and I don't dislike metalcore, I actually like Avenged Sevenfold's newest album, City of Evil.
