I've been looking for some good punk bands lately. I'm not really into the older Beach Boys Punk, like the Ramones, Joan Jett, etc. I rather like Rancid, Dropkick Murphys..Stuff like that. A bit of Ska's fine too.
Got any suggestions?

Im sorry but it's pop... the punk was just added on there to sell it... not saying I like real punk either... cause I dont... but still... If there is anything that I listen to that even closely resembles punk, it's Black Eyes...

Can't say i've ever heard of them.
And if you're arguing that Fall Out Boy isn't pop-punk..Eh, I could believe it. I don't listen to much of their stuff anyway.

As opposed to a genre created by fans?
Besides, in a lot of stores i've been to, I don't see "punk" sections. Rock/ Pop, Hip Hop, Country..but not Punk.

I just hate mindless pop culture, so I tend to attack it a lot.... labling music in it's self is stupid and conforming... so the people who call themselves punk bands, who sing about anti-conformity and anarchy and what not, are actually conforming to a genre... which i find ironic... but Im not here to tell you not to listen to punk... Im just here to state an opinion...

It gives you a base to decide if you want to look at a band you've never heard of before. Even then, it seems to me that Anarchy Punk has seemed to have died out some.

Personally, I do not decide on what music I want to listen to based on what they lable themselves as... I just listen to anything that catches my interest...
I mean, I can understand the broad genres... like rock and rap and country... because they are extreamly different you know... but it's all the sub genres that have beome rediculous... hardcore, metal core, screamo, emo, sludge, math core, I could go on and on... and to say "I only listen to hardcore bands" is so ignorant and rediculous...
Im quite sick of all the sub genres quite honestly.. It's boxed our culture in so much as far as what people listen to... especially with mainstream music

Oh! Ok. I can understand that.
Yeah, it's silly. There're new "-Core" genres everyday. I also don't get all the Post and Pre genres. What is Post-Punk? Pre-Punk? What?
I think there should be some, but it's gotten out of hand.
