Why did he became a lady-in-waiting at Hotohori's court?
I watched the series a long time ago, and I don't remember this clearly.
Also, how it was. A man with lady's heart (soul)? He told something like this, if I remember correctly.

PRINCE-BELIAL Why did he became a lady-in-waiting at Hotohori's court? I watched the series a long time ago, and I don't remember this clearly. Also, how it was. A man with lady's heart (soul)? He told something like this, if I remember correctly. His sister was killed when he was younger. So, in her memory, he began to dress as a woman and the men from the courts were gathering women for the emperor's harem. Anyways, they saw Nuriko and took him, mistaking him for a woman. That's how it happened. ^.^

Miaka could have used one of her wishes to turn Nuriko into a woman.............thats of coures if he had not died crying

In Fushigi Yugi Eikoden Nuriko was rebore as a girl and still had a crush on Hotohori.....................so ya she wanted to be a woman.

The thing that confuses me is that right before he died, Nuriko gave up trying to be his sister, so why would he want to come back as a girl? And when Nuriko was briefly "grown up" in Eikoden was s/he a male or a female?

I personally loved Nuriko either way, man or woman, loving Hotohori or otherwise. He/she was just a great character! ^.^ I had to get the Nuriko key chain when I found it at a convention! I wanted Tasuki more though T.T...

Nuriko dressed as a woman because his younger sister was killed by a carriage, and he made the decison to dress as a woman, and act as his sister, to have a peace in his mind that she was still living on. I was really upset when Nurkio died, I didn't see it coming.

Nuriko did want to become a woman. I remember at the end of Season 1 when they were doing the Ceremony, Nuriko asked Miaka to use one of her wishes for her. I don't remember if it was specifically to be a woman, but it was something along those lines.
And I don't remember if Nuriko was Male or Female when he was reborn. If he was turned into a woman, it was more than likely because his love for Hotohori was still there and because it was his greatest want, so it gave it to him. At the end he may have been a bit more realistic, but the second life gave him what he wanted in the first.
Then again, it's 1am and I'm probably just talking nonsense.
