Also known as the "Guild War," for two hours on every Wednesday and Saturday an event called War of Emperium (commonly abbreviated "WoE") takes place. Guilds that have obtained the Seal of Approval skill may attempt to enter and gain control of a series of castles available in-game. On the fourth floor of each castle lies the Emperium; if a guild breaks another guild's Emperium, that guild gains control of the castle. If a guild can maintain control of a castle until the end of the War of Emperium it will retain control until the next War of Emperium and may gain a variety of benefits for victory.[4] During War of Emperium hours, the castle maps are set in PvP mode and behave much the same as the standard PvP maps with a few exceptions, in particular the lack of damage indicators and a large decrease to the effectiveness of magic. War of Emperium is the most popular feature of the game[5] and most players participate in it at least once per week.[6]
[edit] Plot The story of Ro2 takes place after the events in Ro1. A great destruction has befallen the old realm of the humans, though this exact event is uncertain. With the help of the wise Lif and Baldur, the son of Odin, the human ones escaped this destruction. They fled to the northern part of the continent to Alfheim, where the Ellr live in peace. The Ellr provide them shelter, and it is here that the Normans begin to develop once more.
With the Normans follow the human instinct for battle. Small skirmishes are fought, but the Ellr, who maintain the peace in the world, stop the battles. Forced to leave Alfheim, they move back to their native land. In this land, there is a great tree called the Tree of Life. Before long, all the Ellr had disappeared from the world. For seemingly no reason, the Life Tree suddenly died. With their tree dead, the Ellr are forced to leave their land once more and venture back into the land with the other races.
Meanwhile, the Dimago are lost in a deep sleep or trance of some sort. Suddenly, and without warning or reason, they are released from this sleep. With no home or place to go, they begin to wander the continent in endless torment.
[edit] Setting Main article: List of Ragnarok Online locations A female Super Novice in the Umbala rainforest. A female Mage resting in Comodo.Ragnarok Online is divided into a series of maps, each of which has its own terrain and native monsters, though many monsters are native to multiple regions. Transportation between maps requires loading the new map and monsters cannot travel from one map to another.
There are three major nations in Ragnarok Online, the first of which and where all players start is Rune Midgard. The Schwaltzvalt Republic, an industrialized neighbor to the North, was added in Episode 10[7] and Arunafeltz, a religious nation modeled after a combination of Israel and Turkey is the subject of Episode 11.[8]
A series of other, minor nations also exist, generally modeled after an ancient society in the real world, such as Amatsu, which is modeled after ancient Japan,[9] and Louyang, which is modeled after ancient China.[10]
The year 1000 L.C is approaching. One thousand years prior, a terrible destruction took place, and the world was saved by St. Lif, son of Baldur. Roughly twenty years earlier, a destructive war took place between Normans of the east and west, but there has recently been peace. Strange things have begun happening, however; the dark wanderers Dimago have awoken, and the Ellr have left their land of Alfheim to investigate the Mother Tree's silence.

Features:
The game is a full 3 Deminsional world. It is equiped with many helpful features which surpass that of the first Ragnarok.

An "anti-theft system," which is said to benefit victims of mob and experience stealing.
When a mob is killed, instead of items being dropped on the ground, the player will now loot the body of the mob. This prevents people from stealing loot.
You can now choose to play as a character from one of three separate races: Norman, Ellr and Dimago.
A battle system which promises to focus on team work. It will be designed so that several people killing one powerful monster will be more beneficial than a single person killing several weaker monsters.
A "safe trade system" which works two ways: it can be set up so that either an item can be given directly to someone, or so that both sides must input an item or zeny.
The game uses the Unreal Engine, a gaming engine used in modern game design.
There will be two systems of character movement: the first will be like in the first RO in which you clicked the terrain to move your character. This time, however, the AI is designed so if you click around a corner, your character will move around the corner instead of running straight into the wall. The second system of movement is simply using the keyboard.
Your characters can both jump and swim. (this really isnt an enhancement but its really cool 3nodding )
Main Features
Complex Job Change System
The first Ragnarok Online featured a unique levelling system in which a character's base level (how strong the character was) and job level (how skilled the character was at his job) were levelled separately. However, once a job was chosen, it could not be changed, so this could be considered a limitation to a player's freedom within the game. The Complex Job Change System, available only to Normans, will change this.
The Complex Job Change system will allow a Norman to change his job at any given time. This sytem was devised so that a player can experience all different classes s/he wishes to without having to create a whole new character for a specific class. There are certain small requirements one must fill in order to change his job, though what they are exactly remains unknown. A character will even be able to change from secondary classes (i.e., a priest*) to first level classes (i.e., an acolyte*), and vice versa.
Be warned: though the character's base level stays the same, changing a character's class will reset the job level back to 1. For example: Your character is a job level 25 swordsman and you change him into an enchanter. His job level is reset to level 1 while he's an enchanter, but if you decide to change him back to a swordsman, his job level will go back to level 25. All skills, stats and bonuses from your character's swordsman job will be saved in case you decide to go back to that class again.
This system, however, presumably presents a bit of a problem. If you recall, in the first RO, you would choose your stat points based on your class - so if you were a swordsman, it would be a good idea to place all of your stat points into Strength and Vitality. However, if you decide to change your STR/VIT-based swordsman into a mage, you'll realize that these stats are useless to a magician (particularly STR). In RO2, this problem is pretty much fixed by the fact that your stats are majorly controlled by the class you're currently playing. In the original RO, the ratio of your stats based on where you place your stat points versus your stat points based on the class you play was 9:1. In RO2, this ratio is 2:5, meaning 3/5 of your stats will be controlled by the class you play.
Lastly, it's been stated that in RO2, you will need a variety of stats in order to play your class well instead of shoving them all of your stat points into two stats. This provides yet another advantage to those who decide to change their character's class frequently.
Speciality Job System
The Speciality Job System is a system which allows a character to use skills from different classes without changing into that class. Special abilities can be gained by levelling a character's job class, giving them the ability to create useful and original class combinations.
Equipment Leveling
RO2 has implemented a new system in which equipment itself levels up. This system allows people to keep their favorite pieces of equipment because they continue being useful instead of tossing them out when they become outdated.
Equipment in RO2 are separated into two categories: they are either a levelling type, or a non-levelling type. The levelling equipment types can gain experience and levels, just like your character, whereas the non-levelling type doesn't acquire any experience and doesn't level at all.
All of the following gear is considered to be of the levelling type: weapons, shields, gloves, "upper" clothing, and shoes. The rest - "lower" clothing, garments, belts and accessories - are considered to be the non-leveling type.
Levelling Equipment... Can level up. Has fixed base stats. Belongs to you and you alone from the moment it is identified. Cannot be traded.
Non-levelling Equipment... Cannot level up. Has randomized base stats. Doesn't belong to any one specific person. Can be traded.
If you've ever played World of Warcraft, an item "belonging" to a character works in a similar way as an item being soulbound to a character.
Equipments are separated into three classes: C-class, B-class, and A-class. Each of these classes has a max level that your equipment can reach. Once it's reached its max level, you must use a special equipment combination item in order to upgrade it to the next class. When this happens, you can either choose to keep the equipment's features, or you can opt to change the equipment's name, shape, special ability, and growth rate changes. Only the stats remain the same. An example of this that's been given is that the C-class weapon, "Ellr's Knife," which focuses on both melee and magic power, can be upgraded into the B-class weapon, "Kris of Thorns," which has a new growth rate focus on critical rate. The max level of every class is as follows:
C-class: Max level 20 B-class: Max level 20 A-class: Mac level 30
Once your levelled equpment's its experience bar reaches 100%, it will not level on its own. Instead, you will have to take the piece of equipment to the nearest blacksmith NPC to upgrade it for you for a small fee. The equipment's stats will increase randomly based on its growth rate. The growth rate simply determines which stats are more likely to increase when the piece of equipment levels. For example, if a piece of equipment's growth rate focuses on melee damage, the stats of the equipment's melee damage will increase at a much higher rate than other stats.^Reference - ragnarok-tale.net

Race: Norman (meaning normal/human or Norsemen) Aimed at: "Bored" players Physical apperance: Human apperance about 5-6 heads tall. Personality/Qualities: Adventerous and Free
History: People who have an enthusiast heart of freedom and palpitating adventures. Since the tenth century, Norman thrived on the Midgard continent.Thousand years ago of that, the great destruction fell down on the continent, involving the mankind towards an unquestionable death. With the assistance of wise “the Lif” and “Baldur”, the son of God of Light, the human ones could escape the destruction. Consequently they developed gently in Alfheim (in the north of the continent). The center of the continent is called “Vertebra of Imille”. One generally divides the continent into 3 great zones of influences: the Republic Of-Doves, Michel-Carle-Bitheu Republic and the Run-Midgard Kingdom. The human ones attach much importance to curiosity and the exploration which they practise with passion.
Although they are physically rather weak, they occupy the principal zone of the Midgard continent and are bound by a strong religious conscience, which does not cease increasing.
The human one, while following the instructions of Lif and Baldur, created the orthodoxe church “Lif”. They created then the Ortin church in the honor of the gods Ortin and Arcil. Gradually, the Ortin church took much width and was regarded as the national church of the Kingdom Swiztar (subordinate clause of the Run-Midgard Kingdom and the Michel-Carle-Bitheu Republic). The Lif church lost its notoriety and interested finally only some remaining countries.
Race: Eller Aimed at: Asian gamers. Physical Apperance: The half-breed of Normans and Dimagos; they basically look like "chibi" (super-deformed) elves. Personality/Qualities: Posesses a unique spell-cast system. Uses various spells and tactics in battle.

After hundreds of years of combat, they could finally live quietly under the protection of Alfheim. Unfortunately this peaceful life ended the day of the great destruction. The demons decided to turn over to live in nature to re-establish peace there. Ellrs, pulled about by a drunk heart of demon of adventure, finally decided to live a calm life. However, the world of Ellr is now implied in the war of the human ones. Thanks to their participation, the war is finished quickly and the rival clans declared the armistice. After which, Ellr will decide to return to their native land, and thus to find a simple life.
20 years after, Ellr have completely disappeared from the world of the human ones. But a new drama will fall down on them: the tree of the life, which guaranteed a life of peace to them and of calms, dies suddenly. After they were collected, they decided to come out from their world…
Race: Dimago Aimed at: Western gamers Physical Apperance: Demon qualities. 7-8 heads tall. Personality/Qualities: They fight with style
History: Lost hearts which deplore and wander in darkness, incompetents to struggle in front of the cruelty of their own destiny. They sank in the hell of pessimism and the misanthropy, incompetent to choose between the life and death. They hoped to wander in nothing in silence, in order to alleviate their eternal pain far from the cries, but they live in a nightmare of which they will not pouront to awake.
No one knows neither why nor how, but the dimago were released from their deep sleep. It do not remember any more theirs last, perhaps have chooses to forget it themselves. They are wandering hearts, tormented by questions: who are they? Why are they awaked? But… their questionings remain vain. To obtain the answer, they started a voyage.

Novice
"Now that I think about it, I don't think the result is really imporant after all."
Filled with eagerness and potential, the novice is how we all enter the world of Rune-Midgar. The skills they learn are very basic; however, they are the fundaments of the abilities they will gain as a stronger, more knowledgeable class. In summary, the novice class is the class that prepares you for the game.
Swordsman
"One who lives with the sword... All he knows is himself and the enemy, and the sword between them..."
One of the most basic classes in the game; supposedly it is the most ancient class in the history of the Norman race. Swordsmen are built for melee combat in which they take on enemies head-on, putting their lives in the hands of their sword and shield. Their skills are hard-hitting and powerful, though they posess an array of defensive skills, as well. In terms of gameplay, the swordsman is the "tank" - meaning they are meant to be the class taking the damage from enemies.
Enchanter
"You are not the same as you were just a minute ago..."
Enchanters are wise and spiritual, casting all of their faith into their beliefs. Apparently, they are very powerful, and the class is well-suited for the Ellr race. They serve as a very beneficial member of the party in that they can increase party members' stats and abilities as well as decrease the stats of enemies. It's believed that Enchanters take the place of Acolytes from RO.
Recruit
"Normans have improved by toiling for years, and they will continue to do so!"
Guns. You heard me, guns. Apparently, to make up for their lack of physical and mental skill in comparison to the other races, Normans instead focused on technology, and guns is what they came up with... And along with guns comes the recruit class. Recruits are believed to replace the Archer class. Though they are powerful, they aren't as defensively strong as Swordsmen, and because of that they need to be quick-thinking. They can switch between both ranged and melee combat.
Thief
"Everything in the world goes around and around. Don't you think it's stupid to argue against the rule of nature, regarding who owns anything?"
Thieves are criminals, hence they are not well-liked within society. However, they can offer a lot to a team of fighters: they posess abilities that are extremely beneficial to the party. For example, the thief can provide the party information about enemies they wouldn't have known otherwise. The thief class seems to be less of a damage dealing class than it was in the first RO.
Clown
"A kingdom without a clown will soon be destroyed."
The clown will make a fool of himself to bring happiness to others, so to speak, and it is thought that they will work a similar way in combat. The clown's job is to bring comfort to those fighting in the front line of battle, though this isn't the extent of their abilities. For example, they can inflict a deadly poison on enemies.
