I just saw the Royal Shakespeare Company perform The Winter's Tale... in promenade. It was probably one of the most incredible performances that I've ever seen- I'm still psyched!!!
Has anyone else had the opportunity to see the RSC perform? What plays? What's the best Shakespeare play you've ever seen?

You lucky fool! I've never managed to make it to England. However, I've been to ASF, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, the only theatre outside of England allowed to fly the RSC flag.

Better than going to England to see them... they came to a college about 20 miles away for a residency!!! Somehow, our director managed to get us in to the final dress rehearsal, so our whole company went and watched the show- for free!
It was amazing!

They're really great. My favorite is Macbeth. Judi Dench and Ian McClellan do an amazing job.

I love the RSC so much. My favourite performance by them was when they did A Midsummer Night's Dream last year, it was just visually amazing. I've also seen them do Romeo & Juliet and Twelfth Night.

Wow... i bet Twelfth Night was incredible...
I want to spend a while just following them around and seeing their shows.
If only tickets weren't so expensive...

Man, I would *love* to see the RSC. They could do anything, and it'd be amazing.

Wow, I'm so jealous! I got to see RSC perform a musical version of "The Merry Wives of Windsor" with Judi Dench, but I've never seen them perform just straight Shakespeare. Macbeth is my favorite tragedy too...

Oops...I thought this was the Reduced Shakespeare Company before I read the comment with the poll.
I haven't gotten a chance to see the Royal Shakespeare Company, but I plan to see every Shakespeare play performed during my lifetime, so....
My favorite place for Shakespeare at the moment is the American Shakespeare Center in Staunton, VA. The troupe there is AMAZING!! I saw Romeo and Juliet and Love's Labour's Lost there. They actually performed R&J correctly, with the first half as a comedy. It was unbelievable! I'm going back in May to see Hamlet, The Comedy of Errors, and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. It's the Stark Raving Sane set. They've also begun The Rise and Fall of Kings, which is the Richards and the Henriad. AND....they had an academic who had pieced Cardenio together as much as he could and filled in the rest come do a reading of it. Sadly, I couldn't go. That's probably the only chance I would've had to see something like that!
