Itachi Uchiha was the prodigy of Konoha since he was young. Graduating ninjaacademy, top of his class, at the age of 7, mastering the Sharingan a year later, becoming a Chunin two years after that... by the age of 13, the prodigy was the head of the ANBU squad for the Village Hidden in the Leaf. However, during this same year, he murdered his best friend and idol, Shisui Uchiha, to gain the Mangekyou Sharingan. Soon after, he murdered his entire clan, minus Sasuke, his younger brother, to see what he was capable of. He became a missing-nin and soon joined the assassination squad, the Akatsuki. His partner is Hoshigaki Kisame. Itachi is a master at all aspects of the Sharingan, although the overuse of them are damaging his eyesight. The S-Ranked murderer, ranked even in the Bingo Book, is 5'8" (175.2 cm) and 125.9 lbs (57.1 kg). He has AB-type blood, and is 17 for the first arc of Naruto, born on June 9th. His notable skills are being able to kill people by looking in their eyes, as well as the main skill of the Sharingan (copy moves), and skill in most ninja arts and jutsu techniques. He wears his ring on his right ring finger. His favorite food is dango, followed by pickeled plums. The "Daimyo Killer", Hoshigaki Kisame, was previously a shinobi in the Village of the Mist. However, he terrorized the village, joing up with "The Seven Shinobi Swordsmen of the Mist" (Kiri no Shinobigatana Nananinshuu). Kisame's weapon of choice is his Samehada, a sword wrapped in tape at most times. It is large, heavy, and made from shark scales. It's purpose is not to slice people to death, but to scrape them to death. Despite this, he is loyal and respectful towards those he cares about (despite the fact that this is a small amount of people). Kisame has AB-type blood and was born March 18th. He is about 6'5" and weighs about 183 lbs. Kisame, in Japanese, means demon shark. He wears his ring on his left ring finger. Him and the Second Hokage are among the only people who have been able to do water jutsus without a water source, as of now.

As the two characters under discussion for this humble relationship are both villains, it is difficult to describe their emotional displays (as, Itachi especially, strongly lacks them). Despite their sinister and psychotic personalities, over their years of working together, they have gained a form of trust between one another. Itachi, while being amazingly powerful, can get quite weak after his battles and can pass out if he overuses the Sharingan. As a highly wanted criminal, be it by those of good or even other assassins, nearly everybody wants him dead. However, the Uchiha prodigy allows Kisame to see him in his lowered state and even entrusts the older assassin with his life, something that most criminals would not do for anybody. I believe romance is gained through undying trust and devotion, and through confusing, and deeply psychological, concepts and beliefs that can never be expressed correctly through words. It is for this reason that the relationship between Itachi and Kisame can be considered so powerful. They are not good people, they do not follow their hearts, and they do not act on impulse, for they are fugitives and every step they make can be life or death. As dark as their hearts may be, they have still gained such a trust for one other that they would put these choices in the others hands and allow for a weakness to be shared, and perhaps in the end, caused by another soul. They would never have a fairy tale romance and inevitably, it will probably end in tragedy. Their power is great, yet conquest is not their goal... but without it – they can never be free from the restraints humanity has put on them.
Throughout the series, it is inevitable that Hoshigaki Kisame and Itachi Uchiha will die, more or less likely at the hands of Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha (respectively). Despite their immense strength, in the world of fiction, bad guys almost never come out on top. I believe it's important to remember that despite this, they can still love. Would they ever call it love? No. They are murderers, assassins, wanted men - they can't associate themselves with feelings of weakness, because it will be used to cause their downfall. However, the feelings can exist and when it comes to S-Rank Missing Nin, love is never taken lightly. They know that death is their past, their present, and their future. They would never bother with the romantics in a relationship for a reason that is dark, but simple. "Until death do us part" - to them, this means nothing. They could die the next day, for all they know (and throughout years of assassination, they have probably parted many couples). Love is not an emotion they can truly comprehend - but trust is something that stays with them.
Despite their differences, very few could say that Kisame and Itachi don't have a level of trust for each other (at the very least, they trust each other more then most of the other Akatsuki partners do). Whether it truly is love or not, one can't determine - but when you are a missing nin whose destined to death, dependence and belief in another means a lot more then vows and steel wrapped around their ring fingers.
