Okay, so we all know about the Avengers, Marvel Comic's counter to DC Comic's Justice League of America.

We've seen many members come and go some we know as well established soloists aside from their noted prior affiliation with the group. We know some members are recurring in one form or another be it the Avengers and/or the Avengers West Coast some to the point of being as classic as Superman, The Flash, Martian Manhunter, Batman, Wonder Woman, Hawkman, and Green Lantern are to the Justice League in the DCU. Others you wonder "who the hell he/she is?"

Some of the most notable members and former members are Captain America, Iron Man, the Scarlet Witch, Thor, Hawkeye, Giant Man, The Hulk, Vision, Wasp, Quicksilver, and Spider-Woman.

As for present members they are: Captain America (Team Leader), Iron Man, Luke Cage, Sentry, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Wolverine, Ronin, and Ms. Marvel.

Again, some members you wonder "just who he/she is?" and if you would even WANT them part of the Avengers if you were given the reins to decide who is a part of the Avengers. Which brings me to this idea (and I'm hoping it's a good enough thread to spark some interest at least amongst the "present" members of this guild) sweatdrop .

If you could decide. Who would you put on the Avengers and/or Avengers West Coast? Basically what would YOUR Avengers roster consist of?

Oh...just for sensibility sake try and keep it to a few members. I mean we're not talking JLU sizes or anything around even a third of that.

10 should be a sizeable limit but if you must go over don't go over 15.

And of course "No villians". I'm not placing a limit on personality clash's between heroes but let's try and be reasonable

Captain America - He IS The Avengers. It doesn't feel like a real Avengers team without him.

Thor - Even though he has taken several leaves of absences of varying lengths away from the team he is the one character other than Cap that seems to embody the team spirit.

Quicksilver - You need someone to create friction in the team. A team should not get along perfectly with no conflicts, otherwise it becomes boring. At the same time you don't want a team that cannot get along either and spends more time fighting each other than their opponents. He can create some tension in the team and some interesting team dynamics. At the same time he has enough experience in teams, as well as respect for Cap despite disagreements to toe the line when necessary.

Sersi - She is the only Eternal I can see fighting alongside the team. Most of the rest take too much of the Long View to bother. She also knows and is friends with various members of the hero community. Powerful enough to stand with Earth's Mightiest Heroes, but also has an interesting personality. Her flirty attitude and tendency to enter relationships with teammates can make for a good storyline.

Spider-Man - I hate the whole "he's not a team player" whine. He has teamed up with more heroes over the years than Wolverine. He was the star of the original Marvel Team-Up. He used to be a reserve Avenger. He also has the intelligence to play the role of team scientist if there is no one else up to step up. Forcing him to use his mind would help him grow more as a character. He is too used to underestimating his own mind.

Herc - He doesn't anything powerwise that we don't get from Thor or Sersi. However it is his personality and what THAT adds to team dynamics that I like. I want to see a Herc and Sersi team-up and how they interact.

I think I should add one or two more members. This is what comes to mind off the top of my head. I might add more later when I have time.
