The summer breeze played along the grass, sweeping up to play with the Fire/Earth hybrid's scarred nose. He sneezed, shaking his head. What a breezy day... Jaro blinked his spring green eyes, focusing on the small path ahead of him. How long had he been walking? Just, walking? It was getting onto a while now, for he could feel his body fatigueing from lack of nutrition.

The sounds of gentle water hit his ears. Wait, water? Fish! Food! Jaro's legs moved him as fast as he could towards the sounds. Maybe a little fishing could get his mind off of Coalan...

There were few things in life that brought joy to Ylva's heart, but spending an entire day on the bank of a river, soaking up sunshine, was one of them. Who couldn't love being warm and cozy as such?! Sprawled out on the mud, her yellow eyes closed in utter bliss, the water wyrm was most content to remain as she was until night fell.

Or she had been content until the feel of approaching, heavy footsteps aroused her from her peaceful nap.

Snorting her annoyance, the wyrm's eyes opened a bit. Really, she didn't feel like being stepped on, and the thought of coming face to face with any creature, especially one of her kind, was unpleasant at best. It looked like her sunning was up for the day. With a hiss of displeasure, the female wyrm slid down the muddy embankment into the water, slipping into one of the shaded shallows to see who the encroaching b*****d was. Stupid beast, whatever it was. Ruining her good sunny nap...

Jaro slowed his run to a trot, and down more to a walk as the smell of water hit his nose. His spring green eyes flickered over the surface of the river. A small smile lit up on his face, though quickly diminished. The grass-marked brown Wyrm moved towards the bank, claws digging awkwardly into the sand.

He hadn't taken notice of another Wyrm, his mind too focused on suppliment rather then a possible nearby threat. Jaro moved to the water's edge, letting the water hit his front ankles and allowing his body to become used to the water's temperature.

Ooooh, it was another idiot wyrm! With a quiet stream of bubbles escaping her nostrils, Ylva quickly submerged herself to review her options. That overgrown idiot was in her water, likely wanting to drink from her river or eat some of her fish. That just wasn't tolerable. Not at all.

Her choices for getting rid of him were rather limited, though. It was obvious he was a fully-grown and strong beast, so a fight was unwise. She could warn him, blow a bunch of water in his direction. That was a bit of a sissy move, though. She was better than that, surely.

Maybe a warning charge? Yes, that'd do it. A little surprise strike would send him packing. After all, she had the home-water advantage here. She knew the river; he didn't. The fact that he didn't have the webbed feet and powerful tail of her type weighed heavily in her favor.

Option decided on, she sank deeper and very slowly swam upriver, waiting for the opportune moment.

As his body adjusted, he walked deepr into the river. Up until the water reached to the middle of his thigh. The sorrow he had been experiancing had emptied from his eyes, and for a moment Jaro seemed to be animated with a friendly emotion. His head survied down into the depth of the water, awaiting a fish to stroll across his vision. Finally, one leisureally swam infront of him.

He waited a moment, muzzle slowly dipping into the water. Jaro could feel the awaiting pain, when the fire would be touched by water. But his need of food was greater. Watching the fish another moment, he plunged his head into the water. A great amount of steam arose as water touched the bright yellow flames. Jaro's head shot up above the water surface. His breath came in ragged intakes, though the fish was clamped tightly in his jaws.

While Ylva's patience had previously won out over her strong territorial desire to evict the interloper, the moment he took one of her fish, her patience lost a battle it was doomed to fail at from the start. Tucking her legs into her body, the water wyrm swam forward in a quick undulation of her body, closing the distance between herself and the intruder.

An instant later, her head and neck burst up out of the water, the rest of her body coming up nearly horizontal on the water's surface. Her jaws opened wide and snapped shut as close to his head as she dared, her warning of physical proximity punctuated by a loud, prolonged hiss of displeasure. She could have warned him off with words, but why bother? This way was so much nicer.

Spring green eyes flew open, head ducking back to keep from being bitten by the attacker. Simultaneously, he let go if the fish as he threw back. The fish went airborne, before landing in the river and swimming off. Jaro backed up, and his eyes narrowed at his attacker.

A water wyrm, female he could tell by the lack of whiskers and sails. His eyes also narrowed in pain, from the clash of elements. His spine stung and ached in pain, and now he had this to deal with? Things were seriously not going his way... again...

Ylva gave a long, low hiss, keeping body afloat quite easily. Her legs pushed effectively at the water beneath her, allowing her to remain in place despite the current. Yes, it was a male, and she had a strong suspicion he was of the fire element too. Idiot. Why was he in the water? To get her fish?! HA! Few of his type were that dumb.

However, she now found herself locked in a standoff with this male, and while she was far longer and in her element, he wasn't exactly a tiny creature either. She didn't really want to waste a breath in talking to him, but if this continued for much longer, she didn't have a choice. Fine. Might as well get this over with.

"Move."

Jaro continued to back up. He weighed his options: either stay and fight with a Wyrm of the opposing element when he was at less then half strength, or run. Once he was onto the sand of the shore again, Jaro's eyes narrowed once more.

"Well, aren't you the negotiatiable type." The fish, his nurishment, gone. What was he going to do now? If he tried to fish again... Oh, that wouldn't be a good thing to do...

While Ylva felt a small surge of triumph when the other wyrm backed off, she also acknowledged that in order to face him properly, she have to stand up. Great. This was such a waste of energy. Why couldn't these land-dwelling idiots ever read the proper territorial markings she'd left as warnings?

"I don't negotiate with trespassers. Move," she said, her voice calm and even as she stood in the shallows, arching her neck a bit to turn her brutal yellow gaze to him. His sarcasm was a poor defense at best. Sarcasm was the lowest form of wit, after all.
