The Space Channel, in Canada had a special on top 10 Video Game based movies. Along with many commentary interviews of Space staff, which included Victor Lucas, a major name in Video Game media.
The List:
10. Mortal Kombat 9. Super Mario Brothers 8. Wing Commander 7. Uwe Boll Collection 6. Final Fantasy: Spirits Within 5. Silent Hill 4. Resident Evil 3. Pokemon 2. Doom 1. Tomb Raider
I'm pretty sure that the list was based on how much money they made, because I don't think any sane person would put the Uwe Boll collection into a Top 10 list... Unless it was Top 10 WORST... Good job for Resident Evil and Silent Hill though.

There's more than one would think...
AIR AVP Animal Crossing Double Dragon (Oh god, the memories..) Fatal Fury Street Fighter Movies Tekken: the Animater Movie Art Of Fighting Sonic The Hedgehog
Okay, maybe there's not that many, but still, it's nice to know that Silent Hill and RE did so well in terms of money. As of 1999, Mortal Kombat was the most successful Video Game based movie. So that's progress if it's #10... I guess for the Uwe Boll collection, they decided that they'd put all his movies together, since I can't imagine him doing better than ANYONE.

How many of 'em been released in U.S./Euro theaters though? All the ones you've listed were only in Japanese theaters or OVAs for the most part...
Stating that though, Fatal Fury the Motion Picture was ******** epic. 'nuff said.

Did anyone remember Final Fantasy VII Advent Children? I guess not. That movie rocked(thought it did lack...something. Like maybe a bit more...paprika or something...).

Well, I guess it wasn't a commercial success in the US... Even though... Spirits Within nearly ended up bankrputing Squaresoft. If it wasn't for Sony, buying 19% of Square's shares, they probably wouldn't exist anymore.

Yeah....a good backstory. I own it, but I dig it just for the epic fightery and fanwanking. Otherwise, yeah, it could've used a bit more....depth.....

I don't even consider Advent Children to be a Video Game - Movie adaptation since it was Square themselves who made it from scratch, as opposed to the Hollywood adaptations.

kenshiro28 Yeah....a good backstory. I own it, but I dig it just for the epic fightery and fanwanking. Otherwise, yeah, it could've used a bit more....depth..... You say good backstory, which is funny because the BACK story is FFVII itself. Yes, great game, but I find that all these sequels (Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus) they ruined the franchise. When VII ended it was like, okay... We don't exactly know what happened... So that gives you a little room to think, as opposed to your typical ending which gets handed to you on a silver platter. With VII, what was so compelling about the ending was that it was uncertain. It could have been interpreted in millions of different ways. But they took that away from us with all these sequels, and kinda ruined it.
