today i landed my first jump and a week ago i hit a tree at a place that hardly has trees....and i want to no what ur first trick was like
Edited by mehmy fisr was just a basic grab (I think this is already a forum somewhere else) and I hear ya about the trees. those things are my main enemies since my fav. thing is taking side-paths. I've actually made a few forest paths that go way off the run at the hill nearest to me.
side paths are cool
cool It's awesome to fly through a thick group of trees at a bajillion miles an hour and come out the other side unscathed lol. It just sucks to
hit a tree at a bajillion miles an hour.......
xp too freaking true. I left a peice of my old board as a memory for this one tree that almost snapped my board in half. I was taking a well-known path, not expecting much trouble, then part of the way through it suddenly banked left 90 degrees and at the time I wasn't ready for it, so I couldn't angle my board right and I was about to hit the side of this tree that was sticking out a bit over the path with my board and time stopped in my mind:
me: alright, s**t. I have like half a second until I nail that tree, possibly snap my board, and probably break my wrist or ribs.
board: it's okay, Al. You got this, just do a nice little pop-turn and take the remainder of the corner full speed
me: I'm going way too fast. If I do that, while I'm in the air I'll hit the tree or go off into those prickle bushes (I have no idea why the mountain has prickle bushes)
board: oh ya, damn. Well its priorities, me or your body.
me: sorry, man. I gotta do what I gotta do.
here's what happened. I reefed on my board turning it sideways while at the same time I dug my hand into the trees at the other side of the trail (It was really narrow) My hand caught a tree and I flipped around. I somehow stayed on my feet and missed the tree with my board, and even kept my balance. Problem was, I was going too fast, and my other hand had flown up to counterbalance me. My hand caught the tree I was trying to dodge, pulled me back a bit and flipped me a bit into the air. I hit the side of the trail with my ribs, bounced on my a**, and just lay there. It was all good though. I'm glad I saved my board over myself.
