Has anyone tired FC 6? I may end up putting it on one of my computers, because suse doesn't want to work on it to well.

I know someone that use Fedora and he says that it is great and that everything works like a charm and that you don't need a lot of time to tweak it . So i thing you should give it a go I don't think you could be disappointed and If you want "Linux" you could try Xubuntu but I don't trust ?Ubuntu any more it.
Since I went from Kubuntu to Gentoo I feel FREE as a butterfly razz .
So you should rethink maybe you can try slack. I hear that it is great too except kernel I think it is still 2.4 :S but bether this than not working system biggrin

I don't really like Ubuntu, and I really want to stick with suse or something like it, and Red Hat and suse are close to the same. The only reason why I was thinking about trying Fedora is because suse was not wanting to install on my desktop.

hmm so try fedora and if it doesnt work ok than try to find some other Distro :S but I think It should work.

I will first I have to shirk windows vista by hand, because for some reason the installers on any of the Linux distors I have won't shrink vista

Why do you have M$ Vista on your PC?
For resizing the partitions you can use Partition magic it is GREAT I do all of my partitioning whit it.
but still why Vista and is it as cool as linux whith berly?

I went out and bought a new pc and they didn't have any with XP so I had to deal with Vista. The only reason I still have M$ on it is because my mother refuses to learn Linux. And no it is not as cool as Linux with berly in it. In order to get verson that has there window switch you have to get home premium or higher. Even then its just switches between windows my showing you a thumbnail of all your windows.
Edit: I have a good partetioner already

and yea I complitly understand that your mother doesn't want to learn linux biggrin it is normal because she is to use to Windows biggrin he he. But you will slowly change her mind biggrin try to not log in to windows and let her use PC and you will se in time she will understand razz

My mom use to Windows?!?!?!?!?! When the hell did this happen? And why wasn't I told? Thats pretty good when your able to get use to an OS over night, just the night she was calling me every five minutes "Adam what does this box mean? Do I just click OK?". Off the top of my head I don't know the name of it, its complied in my work CD that my boss made, but it is pretty good for running of a bootable Windows repair CD.

Ouuuu so your mother isnt good in using Windows so you should install Linux and try puting skinf for Windows on it and you will se she wont see the difference biggrin .
Ouuu so you have one of those CD's too.
so whan will you be puting fedora on the PC ?? Because I hope that I will hear from you that it is great Distro and it is as good as Suse in your case razz .

I don't know I haven't had time to pull out my bart. You have one too, so did you buy yours or what? (my boss programed my verson himself, both of us is too poor to buy a copy xd ) I'm thinking about doing that, considering I just got our printer working with SuSE she wouldn't know

no I have some cool free programs for fixing PC and to save documents and such stuff I didn't buy that but I got it at work. This I have a CD full of little programs that you can test your RAM, Motherboard, Disks, Graphic card, CPU. You can Unlock windows and some other stuff that I haven't try I think you can make a image of windows. and all that is free or at least for me but since I got it from work it has to be FREE or something because they didn't give me any license numbers or papers so yea it ahas to be free.
It isn't that hard to make printer work with suse at least when I did that at work it was like 5 min work?? so it shouldn't be hard for you.

Sounds like you guys are using a boot disk I used to use... I forget the name of it, and fedora is incredibly automated. Course you could try linspire if you want your mom to try linux, but that'd be like taking a sausage slices or dozen and building an HDD with them, it's really hard to get a live CD or DVD of linspire running, and the installer is crap. But CNR is awesome. It's jsut costly to use CNR, but think linux gaming without much work.
Also try buying your mom the Idiots guide to Windows Vista. MAybe that'd help. And make sure she reads it... I can testify, I help my mom with her cellphones and computer, and ussually I end up saying "IF you're not gonna *%&*in listen, read the manual!"
EDIT: Fedora is also very easy. With native support for .RPM packages, it's nice, just click and it's installed, much like a stage3 tarball, but its supposed to add it to the start menu easily.
