I seriously. Hate. Whiners.

Whenever I go to critique something, especially in OS/P or PP, I have people whine that I'm making them feel stupid, or I'm the only one who doesn't like it, blah, blah... I'm trying to give honest opinions =/
I hate sugar coating, and my opinion is, if you don't feel like having honest opinions, tell people to be nice.
But if you don't say "be nice," then I have the right to rip it up as much as I want to.
I'm a harsh crit when I want to be, and I pride myself on it. Lots of people love me for it, too, and keep coming about for more.

So, discuss whiners. Dx

Gawd, I don't even comment on people's artwork anymore because there are so many whiners!

People who whine get on my nerves too. When I comment on something here or on DA I always try to sugar coat the crtiques I have. I always make sure I could be in no possible way hurting someone's feelings. Then someone always gets a smart mouth with me and they think they're freakin' Da VInci. Man. They always seem to miss the point that the reason that they can submit art is so it can be critiqued. They're are some people who critique to harshly or just straight up insult someone's work. In that situation I believe that the artist should defend his/herself.

I divide artists into 2 categories, the n00bs who don't know what they are doing and genuine artists who appreciate criticism. Lower standards make everyone happy sweatdrop except for the ones who want to improve and not just have a pat on the back.

Otherwise I'd be the most hated woman on 5 sites!

Indeed, or if the critisism received was wrong. However, in that case (for I have fallen in this situation) I normally tell the person to shut up and leave, or right their wrong.

For example, one guy commented on a rearing horse I drew, and said that his hind legs should be splayed for balance, and I told him "no" and explained why, and provided photo evidence.

I think WHINING in ANY situation as such is uncalled for.

Part of being an artist is being able to take critizism, and be able to critic yourself. How in the world will you ever get better if you don't know what you're doing wrong?
