A Tale of A Family
The year was 1922, the place, New York City. My name is Giovanni Lingoria, I'm the grandson of an immigrant from sweet home Sicily, but I grew up here in the States. Ever since my family came to this country we've had strong connections and a bit of money if I do say so myself. My grandfather Vitto hit it big in the stock market. We had all the money in the world back in those days. But it seemed like the goals of Old Vitto and my father Marcello was just to make money. When the Women's Temperance Union gained a bit of power in the U.S. Government, and the Prohibition started, a whole new world opened for my family...Organized Crime. So, we got some contacts, mostly moonshiners of the South and got our first shipments, which we smuggled into the city and delivered to Speakeasys. Before long, the Lingoria family was the number one supplier of alcohol in the state of New York...But...Thats when things got bad...

Character Skeleton((My character will be your example)) Gaian Name: Emperor Toji Character Name: Giovanni Lingoria Gender: Male Age: 28 Rank ((See the ranks below to choose your own)): Consigliere Favorite 'Toy' ((Main weapon)): Colt .45 Appearance: Giovanni Lingoria Relationship to the Boss: Grandson Biography: He was born to the Underboss of the gang, before it was even started. Of course, since his Grandfather was the head of the gang, Giovanni was almost instantly given the rank of Consigliere. Due to his close relationship with the higher ups, he has gained quite a bit of guff and problems from the other members of the family who are not as lucky as him to have such connections. His mother Mariabella was recently murdered, though it is unclear if it was by another gang, or by a mole in the Lingoria's. RP Sample ((Unless I've RPed with you before you must put this here)):

Elyon_Miriadel Gaian Name: Elyon_Miriadel Character Name: Anabella Lingoria Gender: Female Age: 26 Rank: Capo regime Favorite ‘Toy’ ((Main weapon)): Browning High-Power Appearance: Generally, Anabella tends to be very modest with her clothing, as she usually wears a neat, pencil skirt and top Relationship to the boss: Granddaughter Biography: Even when she was born as part of the Lingoria family, Anabella never really received the same respect, or trust, for that matter, in comparison to her brother, reason why she has turned to be very self-reliant and determined to prove her worth. Mafia Ranks and Explanations
Consigliere - Consigliere is an advisor to the family. They are often low profile gangsters that can be trusted. They are used as a mediator of disputes or representatives or aids in meetings with other Families. They often keep the Family looking as legitimate as possible, and are, themselves, legitimate apart from some minor gambling or loan sharking. Often Consiglieres are lawyers or stock brokers, are trusted and have a close friendship or relationship with the Don. They usually do not have crew of their own, but still wield great power in the Family. They are also often the liaison between the Don and important 'bought' figures, such as politicians or Judges.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Caporegime (or Capo)- A Capo (sometimes called a Captain) is in charge of a crew. There are usually four to six crews in each family, possibly even seven to nine crews, each one consisting of up to ten Soldiers. Capos run their own small family, but must follow the limitations and guidelines created by the Boss, as well as pay him his cut of their profits. Capos are nominated by the Underboss, but typically chosen by the Boss himself.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Soldier - Soldiers are members of the family, and can only be of Italian background. Soldiers start as Associates that have proven themselves. When the books are open, meaning that there is an open spot in the family, a Capo (or several Capos) may recommend an up-and-coming Associate to be a new member. In the case that there is only one slot and multiple recommendations, the Boss will decide. The new member usually becomes part of the Capo's crew that recommended him.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Associate - An Associate is not a member of the mob, but more of an errand boy. They're usually a go-between or sometimes deal in drugs to keep the heat off the actual members. In other cases, an associate might be a corrupt labor union delegate or businessman. Non-Italians will never go any further than this. However, occasionally an associate will become powerful within his own family.

((I shall make the opening post, others can continue to join indefinantly))
It was a cold December day, there was a bit of snow on the ground in Mount Lebanon Cemetary. People are walking away from a grave site where a funerla has just taken place. Some women were crying, some men had sad looks on their face. The door of a nearby car opens and a young man who is standing before the headstone of the person just buried looks off to see an elderly man being helped into the car, people are bowing to him. The young man is wearing a black suit, black bowler hat, a pair of white gloves which he has in his pockets and even a black cape covering his shoulders. He looks to be deep in thought as he looks down at the grave which reads 'Mariabella Lingoria: 1880-1922'. Suddenly another man walks up to him, a fair, blond haired man with blue eyes, clearly of German decent. He speaks in a New York accent as he lays a hand on the caped mans shoulder and says, "Gio...Come on, the Don is heading back to the Hamptons now, we should get going too if we're going to get to that reception on time, you know how your father gets if your 'fashionablly late'." The first man nods and replies, "Ya know Vinc, in our business...I guess I shoulda expected somethin like this to happen one of these days...I just guessed I tricked myself inta thinkin that it wouldn't hit so close to home..." The man now revealed to be named Giovanni looks over to his closest and dearest friend and begins heading back towards a third car, which has a Chaufer holding the door open for Giovanni.

Death is not always the worst outcome in life; in fact, it is liberation of the shackles that held one into this most wretched land. However, the pain one feels before death, the tearing sensations, the fear, the inexplicable hate, it all remains growing, becoming more wretched than the feelings alone before. That is when one is consumed by these feelings, when all sense of comprehension is lost, when better judgment and common sense is destroyed, and when humanity, as strong as it might be, ends altogether. However, today Anabella saw death not as an unwanted companion, but rather, as a plague which had taken a life too early before it was meant to come to an end.
Sitting inside the dark, elegant car, the black-clasped youth, gingerly fidgeted with a piece of white linen, her eyes fixed steadily on her lap. Her lips were pursed, eyes lightly narrowed, though, they showed no sign of having shed a tear before their mother’s grave. But, then again, how could she cry when already her eyes had run dry, her throat had cracked, and her same body had become numb? How could she?
Releasing a heavy sigh, the olive-skinned woman lowered her head momentarily, her hands coming together, and closed her eyes momentarily. “No, it is no time to show any weakness… No time…”

Giovanni looked back towards his siter and called out, "Anabella! Come on, we're going to the Hamptons." With that he climbed into the car, where Vincent handed him a sheet of paper. Giovanni looked down at it and said, "Slick Jimmy? And his wife and kids? No problem...Me and Anabella can go and do this tonight after the reception..." Vincent then replied, "Apparently, a few of our boys had some trouble with Jimmy while he was in the joint. He was a bit of a rat apparently, and now they want us to go and get a little payback for them..." Giovanni looked out the window while crossing his legs and waiting for his sister to get in the car and said, "We'll deal with it..." With that he folded the sheet of paper and slipped it into his suit jacket.

Blinking twice, Anabella lifted her head recognizing her brother's voice, "Yes, Giovanni" she called softly, as she pushed back a single strand of caramel hair behind her ear, and headed in direction of the awaiting car. As she closed in the car, she watched her brother and Vincent talking, not necessarily about the funeral, of course, but rather, what she supposed was yet another nuinsance of a job. Releasing a weary sigh, she slid into the car.
"What was that about?" she questioned softly, her hands gently resting on her lap, as her eyes momentarily darted in direction of their mother's tomb.

Giovanni pulled out the sheet of paper and handed it to her saying, "Slick Jimmy...We're to rub out his whole family...Thats the info on all parts of the job. Read it carefully...Driver...The Hamptons..." The Chaufer closed the door behind Anabella. The driver nodded and started the car, driving out of the cemetary and on their way to the rich neighborhood of New York City. Giovanni sighed and said, "This means you and I will be leaving the reception early sister...You know how Vitto gets when we're late for a job..."

"Ah..." she gently spoke, her eyes suddenly becoming weary with the idea, though, she took the sheet of paper, her light eyes skimming through it. "I wonder, what he did... but ah, that does not matter..." she mused absent-mindedly as she nodded her head, handing the paper back to her brother as she crossed her legs.
"I know..."
