If you look at the preveiw pictures on the Sims 2 site, they look a lot like The Sims Vacation EP...

Trust me I noticed.

Some of the 'new' features are just ideas that were in the original sims. It's just now you don't have to leave your lot to experience the seasons. That and unlike vacation you actually have to dress your sim for the weather.
