I don't understand how USA "dominating" the world is so bad...

Ok, I admit, I don't know anything about the economy or anything like that. Does it affect the Philiippines? Is it about how prices and taxes rise?

First of all, if we are trying to be in some competition, the Philippines should probably not be complaining because I don't think we have a chance with all these stuff going on in the country. We shouldn't be blaming the US for our "poverty." We all know that it is the Filipinos' themselves fault.

It is the Americans' fault that they seem to "dominate" this world with their overwhelming wealth. It may be because of the products they produce or the millions of tourists every year. Maybe it's because of the location of their land. It's not their fault they were placed there. Also, it's probably about the people there. Though unemployment is everywhere, why does it seem to succeed? It's probably because of the riches the employed workers make.

This does not mean that I'm siding with the US. I'm just saying that despising the fact that the US seems to be dominating the world is quite preposterous because that's what all the countries wish: to be rich and try and "dominate" the world. Obviously, the US seems to be doing a pretty good job at it. Some countries, however, are not even putting some effort into doing so. Some citizens are selfish and don't give out the riches the whole country deserves. Nooo. They keep it for themselves. So let's not blame the US for this success they have attained. Let's blame ourselves for the lack of effort we put into the success we pursue.

I was not quite sure about what I said, but I'm pretty sure about my opinion. sweatdrop sweatdrop sweatdrop

i think it's not really right to blame US. i mean, if they really bring bad influence to our country then why does the govt still allow them to do the stuff that are supposedly "too much" or bad to us?

and also, if you think about it, US has influenced our country not only in bad ways but good ways as well.

for the 1st time... you made a senseful and great topic... i salute you for that...
like Mr.FieryCat sez... the US cannot be blamed for their world domination since they earned it by themselves... its just an overachievement as we say... eventhough they already proved their achievement to us, theyre still careful on their moves and make new visions to achieve... thats how serious they are...

after the Americans left and gave the Phils the total indepedence and the power to govern itself, the exchange was 1$=1P (what my grandparent sez). a total shocker that Phil was one of the richest country in Asia... as time gone by, the value of Peso was sliding down till it reached 1$=P60 right now... so WTFing happened!!!
Factors like : mismanagement of the government (including corruption), abuse/dependency of natural resources till scarce (w/o replacements or alternatives), abuse of freedom( you already know that), palakasan/padrino/utang na loob system, many others to be fixed... duh...

let's say the big difference between the US and the Phils... forget the economic figures... since both obviously opposite to each other... let's say those simple things among its people...

US: obedient: ex. i was shocked when i saw people here in US are so obedient to traffic rules and regulations... when im learning driving right now, i must learn to obey simple traffic signs like the stop sign... i have to totally stop on all stops signs i have to pass... like most others do even the streets are not busy...
Phils: unobedient: ex. even there's a no littering rule, people are still dont obey by throwing trash everwhere that clogs drainage which results flood... how many times do the government spend millions just to clean and even expand the sewage system every year yet there still a neverending misery of floods... blame it to the people, so unobedient!!! there will be no floods and spending millions if people are obedient right?

US: hi tax, low corruption : ex. i've been surprised that there's a bunch of taxes for a an average citizen right here... how much more if theyre a big businessman... that's why the government not afraid to spend billions on war against terror...
Phils: rampant tax evasions, high corruption... just ask those big businessman on how they evade it... umm... maybe with the help of corrupt government officials... so what's left for the government to spend on national budget... the answer is to make some debt again... oh well... sweatdrop

these are only my insights so dont flame on me... im also a Filipino (kinda sounds anti)...sad to say these things that are really true... the change of government is not the answer but the people itself are hoping to change...

the change of government is not the answer but the people itself are hoping to change...

This sentence right here is very VERY true. Let us not blame everything on the government. Rather let us blame ourselves for our constant "reklamos" and our not-supportive attitude.

I quite disagree.... the government is supposed to be the role models of the people. To have a very disorganized and corrupt government how can even the government officials be able to "fix" the ugly situations the Philippines is in. It's just like a person having a lot of people hate him so much that it just means that something is wrong with the person himself. The only solution to that problem is for that person to look at himself and change his ways before he can go out and be with other people.....

As much role models they can be, are you certain that the people will follow them? I doubt it. They will just keep whining and whining on them no matter how good they are.

Exactly what I mean! It's the people's fault...not really the government

We have to act individually and do SOMETHING, so people everywhere can follow you. You know that the government is being corrupt. Why follow it?

3nodding I agree with you. We really, as a people, should change our views. Puro blaming kasi ang ginagawa ng karamihan instead of working. HOWEVER, these rich countries, like the US will always want to remain rich...and how do they do that? Look around you...and make your own conclusions.
