Well? What do you think?
This should be strapped to TNT 'cuase it blows!
Not to bad, but it could use some serious work.
Meh, I'm doing this for gold. (I understand.)
I like it, it's a bit choppy, but not bad.
Good job, you should be proud.

My story was originally called Jinsei Sakasa (or Life Upside-Down). I wrote it as my 10th grade Narrative and I got an A which I was very proud of. I hope you like it as much as I did.

Ayameko walked silently down the crowded street. Book bag over her shoulder and groceries in one hand, she wandered towards home slowly taking time to look at all the shops and such. Stopping at a small book store on the corner of her street, she wondered down the aisles slowly. She hadn’t remembered a bookstore being there, but then again she had never been the very observant type, so it was quit possible it had been there all along. Half way down one of the aisles she picked a book up off the floor. It was a beautiful black leather bound book with a single red gem in the center. It had no title but was nevertheless alluring. Opening it to a random page she read a little.

The god Izanaki and the goddess Izanami created the islands of Japan and also other gods.
One day, when Izanami gave birth to the god of fire, she died from the burns.
Izanaki felt he could not live without his wife, so he went to the underworld to see her.
When he saw her, she said,
"I already have eaten the food of the underworld, so I can't come back to you. But since you are here to see me, I'll ask the god of the underworld if I can go with you. You have to promise me one thing. Do not try to get a look at me until I come back here."
However, Izanaki could not wait and he went to the palace of the underworld. There he saw his wife's dreadful body with worms crawling all over it, and the terrifying gods of thunder.
Immediately Izanaki ran away and he used a big rock to block his wife from running after him. That is the rock which divides the underworld and this world.

Seeing that the book was apparently a form of Japanese myths, she flipped in a few more pages.

…believed to be sealed forever the great heroes returned to there villages, the Gods removing there immortality.

Not recognizing this ending to any tale she knew she turned to the page before only to find that it was blank. Curious she flipped through the rest of the pages, all blank.
“What is going on here?” She said to herself staring at the white pages that she swore had been covered with stories only minutes before. “Hmm, maybe someone can…” She slowly stopped talking as she looked up. To her amazement she stood in a dusty old room, not in a bookstore. Starting to worry about her own mental state she slowly made her way to the dust covered glass doors. Giving the room one last curious look she stepped out back onto the street.
Head down and book clutched to her chest, she quickly made her way to where her apartment should have been. There it stood, only about a hundred years older and a million times dirtier. Cautiously she made her way up the now rickety stairs to her door, staying near the wall, not trusting the floor to stay intact. Finally reaching her room on the third floor she pushed open an already ajar door with a crooked number 326 on it.
“Mom, Dad?” She yelled softly moving into the living room slowly. “Are you here?” No one replied. Where could they be? What has happened to everything? She thought looking through all the rooms in the house.
Ayameko! Ayameko! A strange voice called inside her head. She closed her eyes painfully tight trying to relieve herself of the horrible voice and the dirty apartment. Ayameko!

Ayameko opened her eyes to find herself back on the street. A crowd of people swarmed around her on the large sidewalk. Book bag on her shoulder and groceries in hand she was back before she had entered the bookstore.
“It was… all a dream?” she asked herself curiously, staring at the gum stained sidewalk confused.
“AYAME-CHAN!” Ayameko snapped her head up to see a girl about her height dodging oncoming human traffic, her head bobbing up and down as she ran towards her waving her arms.
“Maiya-Chan?” Ayameko's voice sounded slightly confused as she tried to fully identify her life long friend. The small figure stopped in front of her shortly after calling her name.
“Ayame-Chan, where have you been? I thought you said you were going to walk home with me?” Maiya's deep brown eyes looked at Ayame, slightly hurt.
“I did?” She said, then in the blink of an eye it seemed like her past up to this point, previously forgotten, came flooding back to her. “I did. I’m sorry, Maiya-Chan, I guess I got sidetracked. I’ll walk with you now.”
“Good.” Showing that she was willing to accept Ayame's apology she began to walk back in the direction she had come from. Minutes passed, as they walked silently together, before Maiya said something. “What is that book?”
“Book?” Ayame asked confused. Maiya simply pointed at Ayame. Looking down she saw it in her hands, the nameless book from the store.

Roughly an hour later Maiya and Ayame sat in Maiya’s living room staring at the book that lay on the gray carpeted floor. The book stuck out like a sore thumb in the very clean white house. Seeing it in this light Ayame saw that it was very grungy with mud stains covering nearly everything but the jewel. In fact the jewel was the strangest part of the book. Held to the cover by a gold casing it had no reflection. It made Ayame squirm just looking at it.
“So you say there was no writing in it?” Maiya finally said after a long while of silence.
“Well it started out with writing in it, but it all… disappeared.” Ayame answered perplexed.
“Should we have another look?” Maiya said not reaching for the book herself. “It should be safe right?”
“I don’t see why not.” Was all Ayame said. A few minutes passed before she actually picked up the book. “Let’s see what you’ve got.” Ayame finally mustered up the courage to open the book by forcing herself to believe that everything else had just been a day dream.
Ayame strained for a minute with the cover, letting out the breath she hadn’t noticed she’d been holding. She looked up at Maiya. “It won’t open.”
“What do you mean? How can it not open?” Maiya said taking the book from Ayame and trying to pry it open herself. Even after what seemed like hours of struggling the book remained shut. “I vote we dispose of it. It’s really starting to creep me out.”
“I second that motion.” Ayame said going over to one of the windows. Maiya lived on the fifth floor of a very large apartment building. “Here just toss it in to the garbage bin from here.”
“Gotcha.” Maiya said opening the window that Ayame stood next to. “Bombs away.” She said releasing the book she was dangling out the window. “Much better.”
“You know I got the feeling it didn’t want to be thrown away. I know its silly. Books don’t have feelings, but all the same.”
“I know what you mean. Hmm, I just don’t understand it.”

“Takahashi Kita Ayameko, where have you been?” Ayame’s mothers’ irritated voice came from the small kitchen.
“Sorry, mother, I went to Maiyazawa’s house.” Ayame apologized as she entered the currently smoke crazed kitchen. Setting the small bag of groceries on the wooden island top she turned to her mother who was cooking up a storm. The aroma of her food wafted through the kitchen and floated into the other rooms of the small apartment.
“Without calling? I’m surprised at you, Ayame.” Her mother said not turning away from her skillet.
“Yes. I am sorry. We got caught up on… on homework.” She shamefully lied to her mother. “I will be sure to call next time.” Ayame promised her mother and left the kitchen.
Wondering into her room, Ayame set her bag next to her desk. It seemed heavier then usual, but she paid it no attention. Before sitting down for the night to actually do her homework she decides to take a shower, a nice long shower.
After about a half an hour she finally reentered her room. Robe wrapped around her small body, tightly tied around the waist, and towel sitting on her wet head, she sat at her desk preparing to do a long night of homework. Heaving the overweight bag onto her lap she reached inside from her math book, but her hand landed on something older and covered in something wet. Scared she jumped out of her chair, book bag falling from her lap. Landing upside down, the bags contents spilled onto the floor in a pool of thick blackish liquid. All of her papers were covered in the mess and among her books lay The Book.
Willing her heart to stop trying to escape from her chest she slowly moved towards the pile of things. Sure enough there it was, her eyes sadly had not been playing a trick on her. Though there was something different about it. She noticed it almost instantly; the jewel was broken, well not just broken but completely gone. The only sign that it had ever been there was the smashed golden ring that had held it in place.
“Good you are here. How predictable.” A strange male voice came from behind her. It was menacing, yet at the same time charming.
“Who… who’s there?” Ayame asked turning to see an empty room. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary except for the haunting presence that belonged to the voice.
“Oh don’t play naïve, it is so pathetic. I, Goro, am here to fulfill the curse I put upon your ancestors eons ago.” The disembodied voice growled. His anger poured through the very wall it seemed.
“Curse, ancestors? I have no idea what you talking about, Mr. Goro.”
“DON’T PLAY DUMB WITH ME!”
“I’M NOT, I REALLY DON’T NOW WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT!” She yelled in return horrified now as she felt his warm, wicked presence envelop around her like a suffocating blanket.
“TO BEGIN MY REVENGE I WILL KILL YOU!” He yelled. With this Ayame’s body stiffened, she struggled to break free of her invisible bonds, but gave up to no avail. He mind screamed many things, none of them passing her lips. Certainly her parents had heard the ruckuses, surly they would come to help her. But her air was soon coming in short sharp gasps and her parents had not come, in fact no one had come. He vision became blurred and spotted and her mind continued to yell impossible things, Break free it said, release yourself it urged her, but she had no strength to fight, especial with an invisible foe.
“Stand down.” Came another voice. It was also male, but it was different from that of her soon-to-be murderer. No this voice was strong, good.
“Ichiro!” Goro hissed releasing her. She dropped to the floor no more then a nearly lifeless body. Her eyes partially closed and vision blurred she saw little but the silhouette of a tall strangely dressed individual and a bodiless shadow seeping, retreating back into the wall.
Ayame could feel her self losing consciousness swiftly, but was basically powerless to stop it. Though before she completely drifted off she felt the new stranger lift her limp body and whisper only, “You are safe now.”

Maiyazawa Watase waited near her locker. Checking her watch she confirmed that her dearest friend was a half hour past the time they usually meet. She was starting to get very worried, never in fifteen years had they not meet in the morning before school. Deciding to wait a little longer the leaned against the lockers cold metal faces. Looking down the hall she rolled her eyes at a group of girls who were laughing and chatting annoyingly. She didn’t even need to strain thought on what they were talking about seeing as Toshinabekawa was present. She, being the president of the “Jiro Sato Club or JSC, talked only about the school prince. She was a snobby red head with a stuck up nose. She thrived on drooling over Jiro Sato. Jiro was just as bad, well take away the drooling part, he was the “school prince” adored by ALMOST every girl in the school and envied by nearly all the guys.
“And he smiled at me! EKKKKK!” was the loudest comment Maiya heard Toshi make. Her groupies joined in her squeal, filling the hall with their high pitched annoying voices. Covering her ears she turned away from the abomination of human time and nearly getting whacked in the face with a suddenly open locker door.
“Ahhhh,” was the only noise that escaped her lips as she stood stunned, nose inches from the blue metal door.
“Huh?” a horribly familiar voice came from behind the door. “Oh I’m sorry. Didn’t mean to scary you.” A polite looking boy stood up strait and closed the locker door. He brushed back a piece of dark plum hair that had fallen in his rich silver eyes. “Names Sato, Jiro. I don’t think I know you.” He said smiling kindly. Now Maiya new why every other girl in the school besides her and Ayame were head over heels for him.
“Watase, Maiyazawa. Now excuse me I don’t want to be late for my first class.” Maiya said pushing past him rudely.
“Well nice meeting you, Watase-san.” He said heaving his red book bag over his shoulder.
“Can’t say the same.” Maiya said to herself waving to him without turning around.

Ayame lifted her hand to her eyes to rub away the feeling of sleep that still hung over her tired body.
“You’re not strong enough yet.” Said the voice of an old man from a nearby room. It sounded like he was having an argument with someone.
“I have no choice, Ojiisan; Goro-kun is back and I have to round up the others.” I was the voice of the man from before. The one who had saved her from the disembodied man. Round up the others, she thought, I wonder what he’s talking about. “We have Princess Ookawakami here all we need is Kazekami and Ginkami.”
“Do you even know where to find them?” The old man asked persistent to keep the other man from finding this Kazekami and Ginkami.
“I know exactly where to find them.” He said just as determined not to give up. Ayame finally opened her eyes to a very old fashioned Japanese house. Looking across the nearly empty room she was in she saw two shadow figures sitting behind a paper screen wall. One was the hunched over figure of the old man she had heard and the other was the upright figure of her rescuer. The younger man’s shadow stood with him and he slide the partially ajar screen door open all the way. She squirmed back into her mattress automatically suddenly scared of what might happen to her. The man walked over and knelled by her bed. “Feeling better, Princess?” He asked softly.
“Uhh…” Ayame rolled over to face him, at a loss for words. Princess? What was he talking about? “I… I guess.” She finally stuttered.
“Good. You’ve been out almost the whole day, I was starting to worry.” The man said smiling at her, his Emerald eyes sparkling with a light of their own. It was strange she noticed his hair was a silver white, but he couldn’t have been more then twenty at the most.
“So she’s finally awake. That’s good to know.” The old man said, entered the room, walking cane in hand.

“We say you talking to Prince Jiro. Do you really think that’s acceptable?” Said Toshi slamming her books on the desk next to Maiya’s. Several of her flunkies followed suit, how pathetic.
“I wouldn’t get on my nerves today, Toshi. If you haven’t noticed Ayame isn’t her that means there’s no one stopping me from punching you in the face.” Maiya said plainly setting her own books on her own desk.
“That’s right. I hadn’t noticed your shadow was missing.” Toshi laughed and the others laughed with her. There annoying voices dove into Maiya’s ears and drove her to the point of insanity.
“Can’t say I didn’t warn you.” She whispered to herself. Standing she turned slowly towards Toshi, who was still laughing. In seconds Maiya had finally done it, what she had wanted to do for years as finally done, she landed a nice hard punch on the center of Toshi’s face. Blood gushed from her pretty little nose and she shrank to the ground with a small shriek. “Next?” Maiya asked raising her fist, daring any of the other girls to stand up for their “friend”. The all took a step back to distance them selves from her. “That’s what I thought.”
“Ms. Watase, what is all this about?” Maiya stood still hand still raised. She had expected as much, the teacher would never dare enter the room when Toshi was bugging people, but was expected to come in just in time to make Maiya look like the bad guy. Instead of trying to explain her actions Maiya just walked to the door saying, “Don’t worry, I’ll see myself to the office.”
PostPosted: Sun Feb 18, 2007 4:34 pm

Maiya walked down the empty school hall towards the office. Boy, I picked a great day to retaliate didn’t I?
“Hey what the hell is that thing?” She heard someone shout around the corner. Then the sound almost like a fire extinguisher followed the voice. Seconds later the hall in front of her was filled with a stream of fire. Afraid of being burnt she dove to the floor and hide her head under her arms. In a moment the flames had ceased and there was nothing left, but a charred hallway.
“What the hell?” She said rolling onto her back and propping herself up on her elbows not trusting herself to stand. Smoke swelled in thick clouds throughout the hall.
“Ah, there you are. I’ve been looking for you, Kazekami.” A man said stepping out of the thick mist. Ha was garbed completely in red and black. Mostly black actually. He had said “Kazekami” that was her middle name, but how did he know that.
“What do you want from me?” She yelled at him anger riding over her fear. She was terrified that he would barbeque her alive, but she was never one for showing fear so she hide it under her most recent emotion; Anger.
“Your life.” The man said coldly smiling like a lunatic. The man lifted a white gloved hand as if her were preparing to snap his fingers. She didn’t know how, but in some way she knew that that’s were the flames had come from. A man able to ignite fire from his finger tips, she was a goner.
Then just as she was ready to lie down and die two things happened all at once. First the deafening crash of glass filled the hall and something knocked flame boy to the ground from behind and second she heard the familiar voice of Jiro asking her if she was okay. She didn’t know how they connected because she knew Jiro had come from behind her and the stranger had been in front of her.
“GORO! LEAVE THIS PLACE!” Yelled a strong voice from within the still disappaiting fog.
“Ergg! Don’t think I won’t be back for them.” The man, Goro, said as he was devoured by hellish flames the didn’t seem to burn him. In no time the hall was almost as silent as it had been when she had entered it.
Jiro knelled behind her and tried to help her sit up, but she moved away getting to her feet herself.
“Thank you, but I don’t need your help.” She said to Jiro leaving him sitting on the floor. She leaned against one of the lockers, now in a particularly pissed mood. Jiro just shrugged his shoulders and remained sitting. As Maiya clutched her arm that she finally realized hurt from impact on the hard floor, the other strange man stepped through the quickly thinning smoke.
“Are you alright, Kazekami?” He said brushing glass of his shoulders and cut up arms. Obviously he hadn’t thought about the consequence of jumping through a glass window without a long sleeve shirt on.
“I’m just fine.” Maiya said quietly, because she was afraid anything louder would cause too much stress on her body, then she might start crying and she simply couldn’t have that especially in front of Jiro. “And just who the hell are you?” She asked bitterly.
“The name is Sato, Ichiro, but now really isn’t the time for introductions I need you…” He stopped and looked down at Jiro, “and you, to come with me now.”
“Wait you want use to came with you?” Jiro said finally speaking up after just staring for the past few minutes.
“Yeah why the hell should I go with you?”
“Because, Goro has escaped from the seal, which is actually your fault anyway,” Ichiro said the last part pointing at Maiya, “so I need you two to help me and Princess Ookawakami to seal him again.”
Maiya and Jiro just stared at him slack jawed. “Are you on drugs?” Was the first thing said after a great period of silence and it came from none other then Maiya.
“Wh… What kind of question is that?” Jiro said getting to his feet obviously perplexed as to why Maiya would say something like that to a complete stranger.
“It’s a perfectly legitimate question. I can understand that this is difficult to comprehend, but I really just need you to help. So will you come?”
“I’ll go.” Jiro said quickly raising his hand.
“Hell no. I’m staying right-“ Maiya was cut short when the stranger heaved her over his shoulder. Surprised she just stared at nothing a bit confused as to what had just happened, but as soon as hr mind grasped what was going on her immediately started kicking and screaming. “LET ME DOWN YOU FREAK!!!!!!” But he just continued walking, Jiro following silently behind.

Ayame sat up in her straw mat bed slowly eating a small breakfast. A sweet looking woman had brought it into her right after Ichiro had left. The woman was the most hyperactive she had ever seen, bouncing around straitening blankets and piling papers around the room. She was somewhere else in the house at the moment and Ayame could hear her singing off tune in what was probably the kitchen.
After finishing her breakfast she slowly got out of bed to clean her dishes. When she reached the kitchen the woman how had earlier introduced herself as Hoshiiwa, moved around cleaning everything in sit.
“Oh you’re up.” She said stopping and bowing in her direction. Ayame, confused, looked behind her. Was she bowing to me? Just to be polite Ayame bowed back. Seeing Ayame bow the girl went nuts, waving her hands frantically in front of herself. “Ahhh! Don’t bow to me, you highness!”
“Your highness, what’s that supposed to mean?” Ayame asked, hand on her hip. It obviously wasn’t just some term of interment that Ichiro had used when he called her Princess.
“You mean you don’t know.” Hoshi laughed to herself. “Well of course you don’t.”
“Really, what are you talking about?”
“You’re Princess Ookawakami. The great daughter of the river god. I thought Sato-sensei would have told you.” Said the girl still smiling.
“Sato? You mean Jiro-kun?” Jiro, the prince of the school, his last name was Sato. Could she possibly be talking about him?
“No, no, Sato-sensei. The one who saved you. Oh excuse me.” She left for the main door and Ayame followed. Seconds later someone knocked. She could her weak screaming and someone saying, “Please open the door.” How did Hoshi know someone was at the door, she had left before they knocked.
Hoshiiwa opened the door and there stood Ichiro, Maiya over his shoulder and Jiro standing behind him. Maiya has screaming up a storm and she had never seen Jiro so pensive. The entered and Ichiro dropped Maiya to the floor.
“Maiya.” Ayame said simply, rushing to her friend’s side.
Maiya merely looked Ayame up and down and asked, “What the hell are you wearing?” Ayame looked down at her own clothes. She seemed to be wearing a traditional Kimono and a very large on at that.
“I don’t know.” She said staring back up at her friend. “Wait, but that’s not important. What are you doing here?”
“Me? What are you doing here?”
“Well, I… I have no idea.”
“Good me neither.”
“You’re here,” Ichiro said interrupting the girl’s reunion, “Because you set Goro free and now you have to help me seal him again.” He sounded kind of angry.
“I told you they wouldn’t listen.” Came the distant voice and stubborn voice of the old man as he walked through the hall into the kitchen.
“Goro?” Jiro said pondering. “Isn’t that the guy you scared off at the school?”
“Yeah, what of it?”
“Well if you can just tell him what to do like that why do you need us?”
“Because he’s growing stronger and I can’t tell him what to do forever.” Ichiro moved into the living room and motioned for the others to follow. Ayame and Maiya just looked at each other for a moment, like they were talking to each other without talking. Seeming to agree that they should follow, Ayame helped Maiya to her feet and they pursued him into the room with Jiro behind them.
“So do you mind explaining what we really have to do with this?” Maiya finally asked when ever one was settled around a low table.
“Of course. Well I should probably start from the very beginning.” Ichiro said rubbing his chin.
“Yeah the beginning sounds like a good place to start.” Maiya said sarcastically.
“It all began four thousand years ago. With the creation of this land. The god and goddess, Izanaki and Izanami, bore five children. The first was sent to be the guardian of the mountains in the north, the second to protect the precious metals of the land, the third to free the waters and the fourth to guide the wind.” Ichiro paused.
“I thought you said there were five?” Jiro asked when Ichiro remained silent.
“There was. The fifth was the god of fire. At his birth he killed the goddess causing his father much grief. He was known to the others as the bringer of evil. It is said he was not the son of Izanaki and that is why she is why she died at birth, but it’s not know for sure.” Eyes cast to the floor, he continued almost reluctantly. “Goro, the fifth son, was supposedly shunned by his siblings and he grew angry. In his rage he filled the land with flames and was soon known as the god of wrath. The others, in order to return the land to peace, sealed there brother in the Chigokuin stone which they later attached to Jurei Shinwa book.”
“Wait if this guy was so evil then why didn’t they just kill him?” Ayame asked curiously. It didn’t make sense to leave someone so evil alive.
“Because of you.” Ichiro finally lifted his eyes to look at Ayame.
“Hey now, you can’t blame Ayame for something that happened four thousand years ago.” Maiya said sticking up for Ayame, where as Ayame simply looked at the floor down cast.
“Fine, it was because of Ookawakami. The goddess of the river was to kind hearted to let the others kill their own brother so they settled for sealing him away. But the other day you two broke the seal and now he his free again. As the descendents of the Izanaki and Izanami’s children you have to help me reseal him before he becomes too powerful to fight.”
“So your asking us to accept such a far fetched tale and follow you to what ever end, is that it?” Jiro stared at the suns reflection in the table.
“That is exactly what I’m asking. For the good of everyone we have to capture him and fast.”
“I won’t work with Jiro.” Maiya said stubbornly looking at the plum haired boy that sat at the end of the table like a saddened statue.
“You have no choice. Both you and Ookawakami are obligated to do this more then either of us.”
“What! Why are we more obligated then you?” Maiya yelled looking furiously at Ichiro.
“Because you were the idiots how through the book out the window in the first place.”
“Fine, but you better hope I come out of this alive.” Maiya crossed her arms and got up from her seat at the table, stalking out of the room. Moments later they heard a door slam.
“I apologize for Maiya’s behavior. Please forgive her.” Ayame stood eyes still cast at the floor. She looked as if she were going to cry, her deep blue eyes glistening with unshed tears behind the mass of black hair that had fallen in front of her face. Leaving the boys, she made her way into the room she had been sleeping in. Sitting near the single window she watched as Maiya stalked around the garden, stopping in front of a small fish pond.
PostPosted: Sun Feb 18, 2007 4:38 pm

Maiya knelled by the waters edge and starred at her reflection. A single tear fell from her eye and distorted her appearance in the waters surface. How could all this have happened in such a short span of time? One second she’s just a normal school girl with an above average aggression rate and the next she’s the descendent of some great god.
“How am I going to fight something like him?” she asked herself out loud remembering the flaming man, Goro.
“We’ll figure it out… together.” Maiya jumped at Jiro’s sudden appearance. She turned and there he was, standing right behind her. How had she not seen him in the waters surface?
“Together, huh?” If he thinks for on second I’m enjoying working with him he’s wrong.
“All of us. We are siblings aren’t we?”
“I suppose in some twisted way.”
“Then like siblings we will help each other out.” Jiro finally turned his gaze away from the water and looked at Maiya smiling. “It will be over soon… Sister.” With that he left walking back to the house. Leaving Maiya feeling horrible about every mean thing she had ever thought or said about him.

That night they gathered for dinner and discussed there plans. It was fairly simple. Ichiro gave a briefing on who had what kind of power and how to use it. Then he explained the array in which they would use them in order to effectively seal Goro. All the while Hoshiiwa stood in the sat in the corner observing everything.
After they at they practiced their new powers until they couldn’t see in front of their own noses. All the time Ichiro continued to say, “I’m sorry we don’t have more time to practice.”
Exhausted, they all made their way to beds that had been lain out for them. Maiya bunked with Ayame in the room she had slept in the night before. Jiro stayed in a room farther down the hall with Ichiro.
Maiya lay in her bed staring up at the star lit sky through the window. Ayame seemed to have fallen strait asleep, but Maiya couldn’t drift off so easily. She was worried sick about what had to be done tomorrow and how little her powers had advanced compared to everyone else. After an hour of laying and worrying she quietly got out of bed and made her way silently to the garden where they had been practicing before. Using the bright moon as a source of light she continued to practice. She used the movements Ichiro had taught her, which seemed kind of like a dance, and attempted to emit gust of air from her palm. After nearly three hours of only successfully making a light breeze she gave a forceful, “HIYA!” out of frustration and a billowing gust of wind speed through the grass and splashed through the pond, breaking up when it hit the side of the house. She covered mouth from yelling any further afraid to wake the house if she hadn’t already.
“Very well done.” Said the voice of an old man. Maiya turned to see a cute wrinkled man leaning on a walking cane. He was dressed in a faded blue kimono and matching hakama pants that made his unseeing grey eyes shine.
“Oh, thank you sir.” Maiya bowed at him and looked back to where her wind had pasted, besides the still sloshing water there was no evidence of it.
“You practiced hard to accomplish what came easily to you siblings. That is sometimes better then being natural.”
“I don’t understand what you mean by that.” Maiya said looking at the old man confused.
“Your companions had strong attacks when they started, but you had to strain to achieve their level. This has made you a stronger person, by not settling for less then them you have achieved the way of the wind.” He smiled looking at the dawn sky. “The wind is never powerful to begin with, but when given time it can grow to be the strongest of them all.” Maiya followed the mans gaze and looked up at the disappearing stars, the soft wind caressing her face. When she turned back to bid the old man good night he was no where to be seen. That’s strange. Maybe he left already.

They all woke early the next morning, Maiya the sleepiest of them all. Everyone was silent as they ate around the low table in the kitchen. After serving them, Hoshiiwa nodded to Ichiro and left the house.
“We better get going; Goro grows stronger the longer we wait.” Ichiro stood heading out the door. Without a word the others followed him.
By mid morning they had made there way to a vast green field. A few smooth rocks formed islands in the sea of green grass and a mall stream cut through the land. A soft wind blew caressing their skin with its morning breeze. They had everything they would need to beat Goro in there surroundings, the elements they ruled seemed to softly sing to them a different tone for each of them.
“Good you came I was starting to wonder if you would chicken out.” Goro's malicious voice filled the pleasant air before he appeared before them. He stood out like a sore thumb among the serene surroundings of the field his red cloak billowing in a wind of its own.
“We didn’t come to chat, Goro. Now let’s fight.” Ichiro glared at Goro all the hatred of the earth seemed to hover around him. “Jiro, you know the plan.”
“Gotcha.” Jiro said simple moving towards the closest rock. Placing his hands on the rock and imagining a magnificent sword the rock morphed. Seconds later the same sword he had imagined in his mind rested in his hands, a tangible object.
“You think you can seal me again. Do really expect that a bunch of watered down gods could take me down forever?” Goro let out a sharp hard laugh that seemed to physically fracture their confidence.
“We can seal you and we will.” Ayame said stepping forward fist raised. This was abnormal for her she usually was quite the pacifist, but now she felt an urge to prove herself, to show him she could beat him.
“Hmm, Ookawakami, I guess I really should thank you, after all it was you who saved me so long ago. To bad I have to kill you know, sister?” Goro grinned and held out his hand and a thick ball of fire formed just above his skin. Reeling back his arm he tossed it at Ayame. Maiya summoned her air and throw it at the ball hoping to stop it, but it only seemed to fuel the flame.
“GET DOWN DAMN IT!” Ichiro yelled at her. Seconds from impact he dived in front of her, forming a wall of dirt that crumbled when the fire ball hit it. “Come on we don’t have time for this. Ayame simply nodded and back up towards the stream.
“No book for you this time.” Maiya said summoning her air again. “No, this time you’re going strait to hell!” She yelled the last part hurling the gust of wind at Goro. The force pushed him head over heels, literally. Next Ichiro held him to the ground with roots and vines. Goro raised his hand to summon another fire ball but a down pour of rain soaked him through and through instantly.
“Take that.” Ayame yelled from her place knee deep in water. Finally Jiro stepped forward. Sword in hand he looked down at Goro. He raised it above his head to strike.
“Wait; wait, would you kill your own brother?” Goro looked at him trying to make his evil red eyes look as sympathetic as possible.
“You are no brother of mine.” With that Jiro plunged his sword through Ichiro’s vines and into Goro’s back. Jiro stared at him as the life quickly drained from his eyes. Moments later he removed the sword from his back with a sick sucking sound of the skin trying to keep the blade intact. As soon as the sword was back in Jiro’s grip their brother’s body decayed rapidly into dust that floated away in the wind.
“Thank you all.” Ichiro said staring at the place Goro had lain only moments before. He seemed relieved yet sad at the same time.
“You’re not upset that we didn’t reseal him are you?” Maiya asked.
“No this feeling is to be expected. I am thankful to see that the creature will not be haunting us any further, but then again I wish there was someway we could have freed our brother. Ah well not everything can be salvaged in times like this.” Ichiro put on a brave face and smiled at them. “Come on lets go home.”
He began down the hill back in the direction they had come from what seemed like a lifetime ago. Jiro and Maiya followed behind him avoiding any hidden rocks. Maiya turned to see that Ayame was still standing at the top of the hill staring at the empty space that was Goro’s burial spot.
“Ayame, you coming?” She called back to her.
“Yeah I’ll be along in a minute.” Ayame said looking at her and smiling. Maiya shrugged and continued down the hill with the boys.
Ayame looked at the multi-green grass and spotted a red stone lying among the weeds. Knelling down she held her hand over it. A soft warm energy crawled over its surface. She picked it up and examined it more closely. It was as she though, the same stone that had been attached to the book, But then again it wasn’t the same stone. No, this stone was different. It had the same outward appearance of the original stone, but this one had a different feel, this stone was the remains of her true brother. Its aura crawled with a loving warm feeling spreading a true smile across her face. So you were saved brother. If only we could have rid you of your burden earlier.
Fear not, sister, all things had to pass in such a fashion and I will regret none of it. Please keep me by your heart and my wishes will be fulfilled.
