Post your interpretations of Rasputina lyrics or just discuss the lyrics, ask other members their ideas on what the lyrics mean, etc.
What do you all make of The New Zero? I'm not really sure what to think of the lyrics, I like them, but I have no idea of what they might mean.

That's an interesting idea, Sakura...never thought of it that way...
Melora has said during her little introductions at recitals that the song is the story of her affair with an abominable snowman, and the ice hotel in which they stayed. Take that as you will...
What seems a little more solid is that she seems to have seen the articles about actual ice hotels in places like Alaska. Also, she was apparently in contact with Billy Corgan at the time, and thought she would "write her own zero song."
No, I have no real references, but it does put some things together...except the battery line...

A battery powered abominable snowman?
That's why he was speaking strange, his battery was leaking.
Eh, I write stuff that makes no sense, maybe it's metaphorical, well obviously it is at least partially...I love lyrics that make no sense, hence my love of Rasputina and Nirvana. So much fun to try to make sense of them.

An abominable snowman, eh? I guess that explains the 'claws on your fingers' part, seeing as how walruses don't really have fingers XD But then again there's the part where she mentions the fins... I guess it's her own interpretation of what an abominable snowman would look like?

Hm. I never really thought about it...
Personally, 'The Mayor' gives me mixed ideas. A little of the obvious and a little of other things..Thought, it inspired a story of mine. n_n

The Mayor is about one of her mentally ill friends... and Momma was an Opium Smoker is about her mother's drug habits that she had to live through as a child and teen... maybe? or could be about her drug habits... xd
I really like Trenchmouth and the idea of her elder brother and her living in the deep south he being a f** and she being left behind as he escaped persecution xd that is how i see it anyways... any other ideas??? ninja
Trenchmouth Yeah, he was a big landowner
He was a bad mouth breather
But you can see his station wagon stand alone
Woulda, coulda, we shoulda known
He was a failed cropduster
I am his little sister
He was a whistleblower for the f.d.a.
Maybe was them sent him away
He was a football player
He didn't have alot to say
That guy's a lousy actor
He was a hard-core cracker
He wore a trenchcoat, and waved a dixie flag
But he's my brother so i brag
Don't be no dark naysayer
So they all said he was a f**
He had a really big trenchmouth
When we were living way down south
He had a really big trenchmouth
It's on the edge of nowhere
No way for them to go there
I know i'm not much help
But here is where i'll stay
I'm hoping they'll find him someday
I should put up some flyers
Can you think of another way?
He had a really big trenchmouth
When we were living way down south
Then he up and disappeared
He just left his car up here
He had a really big trenchmouth
When we were living way down south
He had a really big trenchmouth
Nobody seems to know why he
Would disappear just leaving me here
On a dirty hill for all time
Me and the pinetree i satnd behind
He had a really big trenchmouth
When we were living way down south
He had a really big trenchmouth
Melora is indeed God!!!! 3nodding heart
