It is the year 2130, and humankind has exploded out of the solar system and into space. Unfourtunantly, Goverment has also exploded, it has become creul and tyrannical. There is scattered rebellion in progress, but with the advanced techknowledgy they have, and by keeping the public dependent on various welfare programs, the government has manged to keep its grip on the human population.

In the midst of all this, there is hope. There is still a lot of unexplored space out there to get lost in, and many groups have done exactly that. Some head out into the unknown and settle on distant worlds, but the governmenbt eventuaklly catches up with them.

But one group has done something different, turning an old barge and various other spacecraft into a sort of mobile colony. This colony has become self sufficient, and thus, a threat to the Earth based government. Unlike planet based coloneys, this one can always move away if found. It can also fight back, as all the ships now have weapons to defend themselves. However, the biggest threat to the governments power is the independence the colonist enjoy.....

((This is loosly based off Battlestar Galactica, a colony of ships running from an evil government.))

Edit. I seem to have forgotten the profile setup, along with the rules, so I'll post it now.

*Captain Alexander R. Solomon of the spaceship Jetstorm closed in on the ratag group of ships he called home. In his cargo hold, he had a wealth of goods for the colony. He had just retirned from an arms shipment to one of the many rebel groups fighting against the Terran Governing Authority, as the government called itself these days. Those groups were the best hope of anyone in the fleet he was now apparoching to settle on a planet in peace. He keyed open the comm.* Jetstorm to Wanderlust, request permission to dock. *Getting confirmation, he angled his ship towards the bay that was opening on the ship that was undisputably the capital of the fleet. It felt good to be home, and he calculated that he would make a hadsome profit on this trip to boot.*

Character name: Adam Lindor
Faction: Rebels
Role: Strategist, Shop owner on the planet Nellion.
PostPosted: Sat Feb 24, 2007 8:54 pm

Adam sat behind the counter of the shop that he had to relocate twice due to the government almost finding him. It wasn't the most secure job in the universe, but he was still lucky to still have it.

Adam: When are they going to get back here?

He then fiddled with a switch under the counter. The switch that revealed a stairway down to a secret rebellion base. It wasn't as high tech as some of the previous bases, but it was still as home as he could get, though even more-so to the informants he was expecting.

*Alexander finished making the deal. He had made quite a bit of money on this trip, just like he'd expected. Then he noticed someone trying to get his attention. Drawing his weapon, he followed the guy into a dark allyway between two buildings that had been constructed on this deck.*

*The guy stopped and turned around.* Sorry I had to bring you here, but this is kinda secert information. Listen, there are a couple of informants about to meet with someone in the rebellion. One of them was breifly detained on a small charge, then released. I think the government planted a tracker on him to locate the base so they can launch a raid on it. I want to hire you to stop it.

*Alexander rolled his eyes.* I'm a merchant, not a mercenary. This is not really my business. *He fell silent for a few seconds.* But I guess I could make an exception, just this once. Lets talk business aboard my ship.

Hi, I just thought I'd give it a shot, I've never done this sort of RP before, so forgive me if I am doing something wrong.

Profile.
Character name: Hailey Archer
Faction:Government
Role: First officer of a Terran Governing Authority ship; The Aurora.

Background:
Hailey Grew up in the filthy heart of the metropolis New Versailles on the Terran Governing Authority ruled planet "Peace", the first planet to be settled by humans outside of earth. Hailey's father had always told her that they should have looked to Peace as a result of their work, and seen their own mistakes.
New Versailles was anything but peaceful, it was a cesspool of crime and poverty. Hailey's father had been killed on his way home from work when she was young, and her mother and her had scraped by ever since on government welfare, waiting in line for stale bread and second hand clothing. Hailey graduated from Terran public school when she was 15, a year ahead of other students, and found a job as a courier that helped her scrape by and care fr her ailing mother.
When Hailey was old enough she qualified to enter the lottery for admission to the TGA military academy...and won. She was all too happy to join the ranks of the elite, and provide her mother with a comfortable home, whatever the cost.

************************************************************

Hailey peeled off her sweaty black under-gear wear and stepped into her shower. The hot water felt wonderful on her muscles. The daily training sessions she had been leading with her team were exhausting, but worthwhile. For months the Aurora had been on patrol, keeping a watchful eye over several planets the TGA planned to annex and claim as their own.
It was driving Hailey insane, the waiting, the boredom, the grinding routine. There were REAL problems on the other side of the universe, there were plagues and famines, corruption and genocide, but she was stuck here....working to line the politicians pockets once again.

The shower had melted away many of these troubling thoughts, and when she put on clean clothes and had a warm cup of coffee she felt much more at ease. Her quarters were better than lower-ranking officers, with a bathroom and a small sitting room in addition to the usual bedroom/office/toilet motif split between two regular infantry. The TGA spared no expense on their military, only on their people.

Hailey's com rang, startling her from her thoughts. It was her mother. *Hi mom, how are you?* Hailey said opening the communication through the large wall screen in the sitting room. Her mother smiled back at her form the wall. *I'm doing better dear, the TGA doctors tell me I will be back on my feet in no time. I just feel so foolish, getting so worked up about a broken toe.* Hailey laughed, *It's ok mom, that was quite a fall, you're lucky that's all that broke." Hailey's mother smiled again.

*Well dear I just wanted to check in with you, I know you have work in 20 minutes, so I will let you go. Just don't forget I'm down here ok honey?* Hailey waved goodbye at her mother, *don't worry mom, I won't, I'll call you tomorrow. love you, bye mom!"* The screen went black again.

Well, it was time to get back to work, the captain wanted her in his office before her normal shift today, to discuss something classified. Hailey had a sick feeling it was going to be something related to the acquisition of these planets, and she didn't approve of it at all.

*Jetstorm launched out of the landing bay and sot out towards the planet Nellion. Given the contract, this should be a simple job. All he had to do was find the base, wait for the informants, and take them to his ship, thereby leading the Feds off on the wrong trail. He had a card that would identify him as a friend from his customer. But what he hadn't told his client was that he'd restocked on wepons and supplies for the rebel group. He was a merchant, after all, and as long as he was going on this mission, he might as well make a sale. That, along with what the guy was paying him, would nearly double his profits for the week.*
