Yeah Vesta made a short story based on a series of novels she likes. Drake is the only orginal character just so you know.

((Note to everyone: I stole the setting from Terry Pratchett’s novels of dicworld; I just wanted to give him credit.))

There’s a thing about hiding in shadows when your wearing all black, to the untrained eye you where virtually invisible, no one can touch you when your in that position. At least… almost no one, much like in the case of the thief Drake Flemings. He’d just been pulled out of one of those very shadows by a tall man with a silly grin.
“You got your thieves guild license kid?” the tall man asked almost jovially. He was sort of along in the middle as well Drake conceded in himself, clean shaven too, the b*****d. Drake just smiled up at him with a big toothy smile that once again, had it been anyone but the person standing before him, he could have gotten away with murder. “No sir, but I can’t say that I’ve done anything wrong either,” he said innocently. The man sighed, the smile not leaving his face either although his eyes where beginning to look weary. “Then I would really just love to hear an explanation to the reasoning being there being a small bulge in your chest pocket about the size of oh say, a ring?” the man said in a voice that said ‘we both know that your lying to me and we are not so much entertained anymore’ there was also the tinted way he said love. It bothered Drake.
He gave an overdramatic explanation of “What?” and reached into his pocket and pulled out the ring, a look of surprise on his face, once again way over dramatic then what was necessary. “Ohhhh this ring,” she said examining it himself. “Sorry sir but just why should I gi-,” that’s when he noticed the badge. Ankh-Morpork city watch it said on the tiny coat of arms. Drakes face paled instantly it used to be a few years ago that you could pay off the watch, but those days had long since passed; now there was all this tripe with upholding the law. He looked up at the man trying to keep his cool. “Any chance we could forget this ever happened?” he asked desperately. The tall man got a kick out of this. “Oh? And I am expected to simply believe that I should just let you slip by so easily? I’m sorry son but I’m afraid I’ll have to take you back to the watch house now awright?” Drake looked offended by this. “What! And what happened to my rights as a citizen of Ankh-Morpork! Where’s the civil justice here!?” he asked the color returning to his cheeks. The man rolled his eyes and said in a voice that had done lots of contemplating of this sort, “Well I could take you to the thieves’ guild only something tells me that they won’t be as forgiving as the watch…” A look of horror spread over Drake Flemings face. It was completely true, anyone caught thieving without a license that the thieves got a hold of didn’t normally get to see the light of day again, although to some this might seem harsh there was lots of thought behind this, why give someone a first offence? Might as well make it so there will never be a second offence, the thieves guild was actually very forgiving. Drake gave the man a determind nod. “Ya know I heard that watch cells are actually quite hospitable, very nice in fact ya know my mate Toliver was telling me that the other day,” the man took him by the arm. “I’m sure he did,” he said politly. “Carot would you mind returning this to the kind woman this was taken from?” he called. An even taller man came up to him. “Yes Comander Vimes,” he said with a small bow. This mans armor gleamed, and held a sence of regalness about him almost like a king, although anyone that new corpral Carot also knew he was the simplest man alive. Although theres a thing about being simple, it would easily be mistaken for stupid and carrot was everything but. He took the ring from Vimes and and gave him a salute. Drake liked Carot. Everyone liked Carot.
A few hours later and Drake was sitting in a cell twiddleing his thumbs while a couple dwarfs watched him. “So any chance you boys will let me out of here for about 20 pence?” he asked numbly.
