By the Light of the Moon is a good book, it's by Dean Koontz. I got my girlfriend to read it when we used to talk online, has anyone else read it? I myself say Steven King is the best, but Dean Koonts is pretty good so far.

I've never heard of him or that book. "The Notebook" by Nicholas Sparks is a good book too.

I've only read a couple of Koontz. We are enjoying Odd Thomas and just finished with Forever Odd. I'm not much of a fan of Koontz, but those two were funny.

As for King, I've read almost everyone one of his books from the begining of his career to Needful things and then I stopped. There was only so much discriptions of blood that I could handle after a while.

John Saul is by far my fav. horror writer. I only liked his first works, the stuff he is writing now isn't that great, in my opinion. I loved his stories so much I've read them several times. Mostly "Suffer the Children", "Shadows", "Unwanted", and "Darkness". Those were my favs. of his works.

Does any of your inspiration for writing come from these writers or do you mostly gather that from your own life experiences?
I ask because I try and try to find something, or get the motivation to start writing ANYTHING of worth but I always come up short and find myself staring blankly into space for 3 hours before giving up and feeling pitiful

I was writing before I could read very well. I'm not sure what inspired me to write and draw. I've always been told it was in my blood. I've been a storyteller since I was little and was told I had an over active imagination. My stories now a days are a mix of experiance and my demented mind. Some of my stories more so then others.

What I do to write a story is force myself to sit down and write whatever comes to mind. It took me a long time to finish my first novel, I needed my wife to really kick me into gear. After discovering that people were actually interested in my insane ideas and story telling it became much easier. I've finished 5 stories now, four novels and one short story. I'm hoping to finish at least 3 novels this year. Nearly completed a second short story already and then I begin on a new novel. I have 8 projects underway as I speak. It is just a matter of what mood I'm in when I'm writing.

Well, sorry to ramble.

Jeez that is alot to have going on all at once, it must be alot of pressure to get all of that cracked out. Do you ever find that your not as good verbally telling a story or event but you can write it out and describe it flawlessly? Thats been my experience unfortunately I spend a half hour trying to get it out saying "like" every other word, annoying as hell

Not much pressure when it comes to writing novels. It is all the other stuff I do that can be a pain, like writing tons of reviews for anime/manga. I have to really push myself to write that stuff because it gets boring after a while and I keep wanting to write about other things.

I used to have troubles speaking aloud, because I was too afraid to speak, but I could tell a story pretty well. If you got me going that was.

I've gotten better at verbal since hosting lectures on writing and art. I even found out that I talk pretty much the way I write, even the odd mannerisms of my way of writing shows up in my speech every now and then. I tend to repeat myself more verbally then in writing, but that is because I get to edit my writing over and over again.

Boy have we derailed this topic. I've changed the topic title. I hope everyone doesn't mind.
