The wine shop here where I go to university had a great bottle. It had pride of place in the room, and was dusty and unbought. It was a 1979 Chateau de Mons Armagnac.

It's been looking at me whenever I go there, and I finally bought it.

Glad I waitied so long, as they'd finally reduced it to £50.

Have you drunk it yet?
Do you recommend it?

Ohyes. It is by far the best Armagnac I've had in my life, it single-handedly brings hack happiness and contentment with the world.

It's beautiful, but I can't drink it whilst drunk. I'd feel terribly guilty, so I've now bought a good but less exceptional bottle for that purpose.

I have recently found my mothers wine cupboard, with alot of very old homemade wines. They were fantastic, I think it was 1996. you took a sniff and you were gone before you had even takena sip.

Nice. I am envious. The liquor stores near me suck, and the ones that suck less still don't have the things I'm looking for. Can't get some of my favourite scotches in this state. I know people who can get them, but arranging it is not nearly as quick as just going, handing a guy some cash, and taking the bottle home.

Over there you could find everything.

Yup. Which North American country are you from?

Also, aren't there shipping companies for Scotch? I know there are some very efficient chaps at LdF who ship absinthe the the USA in huge quantities.

I'm in the States.

Absinthe, I have. Though I could always use more. Even if there's not someone who does that with scotch, I can check into getting some absinthe.

Like I said, I have another friend who's got a personal collection comparable to that of the restaurant/bar I mentioned else thread. He can get it, it'll just take a little while.

http://www.absintheonline.com/acatalog/Absinthes_from_Paul_Devoille__Fougerolles.html

Verte de Fougerolles from Vins de France is both very very good indeed (one of the better available), devoid of the big name markup associated with famous brands, and has reliable shipping to the USA.

Save up, you'll have one of the finer Absinthes in the country.
