Are drummers that are not unbelievably annoying non-existent when looking to start a band??

Finding a drummer who actually likes to play similar music is hard... or so I've experienced. Not sure about the annoying part though... probably just the individuals you've met.

I think maybe cos theyre in the background they feel they have to be goofy to stand out. sweatdrop

It helps if you don't consider drummers actual people and surround yourself by egotistic guitarists to drown them out.

Drummers...this could create a very interesting conversation. A lot of drummers I've met can be really obnoxious at times, and I wonder why. No offense to anyone who plays the drums here, I've also met some drummers who are really nice.
My band teacher at school was yelling at the drummers in band a few days ago for playing really loudly just to annoy everyone else. I've never seen her that angry before.

I myself am a drummer, but not one of the annoying ones. What I figure is that, the drum can be an extremely loud instrument, and at oft times should be. So, it rubs off on alot of people who play the drums. Just like how many clarinets have drama revolving around them (I also play bass clarinet), and trumpet players are obnoxious like their instruments. (No offense to trumpets and clarinets).

I have been in a few bands and only one of them has had a drummer(who smoked pot and didn't play worth a s**t). So I just ended up buying a drum program and I just write the drums parts now.

I say that it depends where you look. I know some really cool people who are drummers, but I just met them at a comp programming place, or sumfink like that, and they're not annoying [or at least not irritating]. Maybe you're just looking in the wrong places.
