Akito:
- Is female.
- Has been sleeping with Shigure since before the series started.
- Had a one nighter with Kureno.
- Marries Shigure.
- Tells everyone she is female and openly dresses as one.
- Becomes friends with Tooru.
- Breaks the deal with Kyou and decides to tear down the cat's house.

Tooru:
- Ends up with Kyo.
- Has a son and a grandaughter.
- Falls off a cliff.
- Forgives Kyou for killing Kyoko.
- Moves away with him only to return and live in Shigure's home.
- Is unconcious for her first kiss with Kyou.
- Talks like her father so people will think she at least a little like him.
- Once hated Katsuya because she thought he was trying to take Kyoko away from her.
- Is told Akito is female by Kureno.
- Has a traditional wedding.

Kyou:
- Rejects Tooru when she tells him she loves him.
- Accepts Tooru once he realises the last time he left things too late to appologise.
- Is the first to kiss her on the lips.
- Tells Tooru how he saw Kyoko was going to be hit by the car but decided not to save her.
- Rips his beads off after being freed from the curse.
- Goes to train in a dojo far from home with Tooru.
- Takes over the dojo.

Yuki:
- Ends up with Machi.
- Finally calls Tooru by her name after telling her he'd always thought of her as a mother.
- Gives Machi a key to his appartment.
- Is the very last to be freed from the curse.

Shigure:
- Gives up writing.
- Marries/is going to marry Akito.
- Has slept with Ren after finding out Akito slept with Kureno.
- Has been using Tooru all along in an attempt to break the curse.
- Has known Akito is female since before she was born.

Ayame:
- Has been dating Mine since before the series started.
- Has known Akito is female since before she was born.

Hatori:
- Ends up with Mayu.
- Has known Akito is female since before she was born.

Kureno:
- Was the first to be freed from the curse when he was a teenager.
- Is stabbed by Akito.
- Leaves the Sohma estate.
- Ends up with Arisa. (Despite it being horribly unconvincing.)
- Has known Akito is female since before she was born.

Ritsu:
- Goes out with Mitsuru for hanami.
- Cuts his hair and begins to dress as a man.
- Finally asks Mitsuru out on a date.

Kagura:
- Ends up with no one.
- Is happy working.
- Punches Tooru.

Rin:
- Is locked up by Akito.
- Has her hair cut short by Akito.
- Is rescued by Kureno.
- Ends up with Haru.

Haru:
- Is one of the few who doesn't cry when freed.
- Attacks Akito.
- Ends up with Rin.

Kisa:
- Becomes worried that Hiro will want to be with a normal girl after he's freed.
- Ends up with Hiro.

Hiro:
- Is the third to be freed.
- Is worried Kisa will want to be with someone cursed now he's not.

Momiji:
- Is the second to be freed.
- Never tells Momo that he's her brother.
- Decides not to tell his mother after seeing how happy they are now.
- Loves Tooru but gives up on her knowing how much Kyou likes her.
- Doesn't end up with anyone.
- Has a new dream of finding a better girl than Tooru and wants to show her off when they return home.

Kyoko:
- Tried to kill herself by jumping into the ocean after Katsuya died.
- Neglected Tohru so Katsuya's father had to take care of her.
- Knew Kyo well.
- Was killed by Komaki's father and Kyo.
- Did in fact say to Kyo "I won't forgive you" as she died but was trying to say "If you don't pay your bill (protect Tooru) I won't forgive you."
- After she dies she wakes up on the beach where they lived young again and with Katsuya walking to meet her.

Machi:
- Is Kakeru's half sister.
- Hates things tidy because their mothers always made them act perfectly so one of them would get the inheritance and not the other.
- Lives on her own because her family thought she was trying to kill her little brother because he was the new heir to their father's money.
- Loves Mogeta.
- Ends up with Yuki.

Kakeru:
- Has a girlfriend called Komaki who he calls his "meat angel".
- Once told Tohru she annoyed him at her mother's wake because he felt she was acting like she was the one hurt most.
- Was made to appologise to Tooru by Komaki.

Komaki:
- Her father was killed in the crash that Kyoko was killed in. He was the driver of the car that hit her.
- Komaki became upset with Kakeru when she saw him be mean to Tooru when they went to light inscense for Kyoko.

Arisa:
- Ends up with Kureno.
- Moves away after graduation.

Hana:
- Is one of the few to work out Akito is female on her own.
- Becomes Kazuma's cleaner.
- Comes up with the nickname "A-chan".
- Actually swears infront of Kyou and Arisa.

Ren:
- Was once a maid for the Soumas but fell in love with Akira the previous head.
- Hated Akito since before she was born because she was jealous of all the attention she would get.
- Made Akira agree that Akito would be raised male or she wouldn't give birth to her because she was jealous that Akito had taken the number one place in Akira's heart.

The real story of the Souma spell:
Once a long time ago,
there was a man.
For as long as he could remember he had always always
been by himself.
If he climbed down the mountain,
he knew that he would meet people,
but chose to be by himself.

The one who is at the top, normally is alone.
Having the strength of a thousand men.
Having the lives of a thousand men.
That man having a thousand memories,
he knew that he was different from other people.

This man was
afraid of other people.
He was afraid of getting hurt.
While he had so many powers,
he was afraid of
this self that he knew was so different from the world.
And so to him
a cat came one day.
This was a sudden encounter with another visiting him.
The cat bowed his head and said.
"I have been following you for some time."

"You have a most unusual aura,
I can't help but be drawn to you.
I realise I am but a stray cat
but won't you please let me stay by your side?
Please "God"."
Since then
as he said, the cat
never left the man's side.
He never left for a moment
and that made God so very happy that

a thought came to him.
"Perhaps, I can get along with them
if it was a being other than human.
If it is with beings who have had similar experiences,
then we can have a fun banquet."
And so, God wrote out many invitations.

In return, twelve animals
arrived to see God.
Following that,
the thirteen animals and God had a banquet each night in the moonlight.
Singing and dancing,
and laughing with each other.

At the banquet, for the first time, God laughed out loud.
Even the moon quietly watched
over the beings who did not look human.
However, after some time
the cat collapsed.
His life had come to its end
and there was nothing they could do.
Every one of them cried.
Every one of them realised

eventually, everyone would die.
The banquet would end.
No matter how fun it was.
No matter how much you love them.
Eventually.
Then God
cast
one spell.
He drew a cirlce in the water with his finger.
He had the cat take a sip of water.
Then he turned to everyone else and said.
"Let us make our friendship"

"last for eternity.
Even when we die,
let us be bound by our friendship for eternity.
No matter how many times we die,
no matter how many times we are reborn,
again, in the same way
no matter how many times,
let us have another banquet.
Everyone getting along
for all of time.
Let us be in enternal bliss."

Everyone nodded in agreement
and the rat took the first sip.
Then was the ox,
the tiger,
then the rabbit.
In their turn
the water was divided equally.
At the end, when the last drop was gone
The cat began to gasp.
"God,
God, why
did you make me drink that?
God, I
do not want eternity."

"I do not want eternal bliss."
Those
were unthinkable words to say.
To God and all the other animals
it was rejecting words.
Everyone was sad to hear them
and they all turned against the cat.
Even so, that cat said,
"God, God, even though you are frightened,
let us accept that all things end.
Even though it is sad,
let us accept that life ends."

"God, even though it was just for a short time, I
was happy being by your side.
If I
were to die, be reborn
and meet you again,
The next time rather than in the moonlight
I want to see you smile in the sunlight.
The next time I meet you,
I want to see you
laughing surrounded with people."
And for the last time the cat raised his tail and died peacefully.

But none of the animals cared about the cat anymore.
Because everyone felt they had been betrayed by the cat.
After that, one by one,
they all died.
In the end, the dragon died last
and so God was alone once more.

And eventually,
even the day came that God died too.
However, he was not afraid
because his promise to everyone supported him.
"Again.
We will have a banquet again.
Once again
many times,
always
unchanging.
No matter how alone I am right now."

"On the other side of that promise everyone is waiting for me."
Now this is a story
from a time long ago.
It is the first memory
everyone has forgotten.
The first promise.

What made the spell near its end:
The cat (Kyo) being finally loved.

What broke the spell:
The cat's (original) words finally reaching God's (original) heart.
