Where did the universe come from? This is basically a proposition that the universe was not necessarily 'created' by something or someone. The author presents some interesting discussion about a finite universe existing within an infinite nothing... what do you all think?

It's interesting seeing it in words but I and my school-friends have came to that point in debates many times - I don't think it's a particularlay revolutionary way of thinking and it would unlikely be accepted by the majority of the population because our minds cannot fathom something always existing, like it said.
I think we're stuck in a rut for a while...

Well a few friends and I (all doing philosopy in one way or another at university) and we were discussing about a pre-universe, a universe before our one. A thoery of our universe is that it will expand so much that it will eventually be unable to withstand its own gravitational forces and collapse back on itself and cause another big bang. We desided to discuss this matter and thought that it would explain why we can only get to withing a few moments of the universe being created, because the laws of physics etc. of our universe only applied after those few moments, before that it was the laws of physics from the prior universe.
Just thought I might add that in. But what do we know, we can't even figure out whether light is a wave, particle, wavicle, or something else entirely.

as long as people say something is "infinite"..i consider it as a defeat before even starting to explore. I dont want to speculate..but i would hope that we build some real cool telescopes and view the edge of our universe or hopefully invent a system of transportation that can travel millions of light years in couple of human months.
