FFVIII, I heard mixxed reviews about it, got it soo long ago, when I was 15 played it, put it down, couldn't grasp the systems it used.
Then I put it up again and am replaying it, and honestly it is a game that does require thinking. I've found the junction system a time consuming thing, UNTILL I figured out that I can refine items, also the card-system while a time consuming and somewhat frustrating minigame, also has that wonderfull card-refine ability.
Thats just the gameplay, I perfectly feel the gameplay is perfect in every way.. The story and music? Honestly one of the best i've heard ever.
And this is coming from someone who used to worship FFVII.
So what do you all think of Final Fantasy VIII love/hate it?

I really love FF8 it had one of the best stories I've seen in any of the RPGs I've played. The only thing, really the only thing, that I didn't like was the time compressed world. It just seemed like the half-assed it a bit. It just seemed to me like the game didn't have anything left to do in the game but beat it once you got to the 4th disc. I like getting right to the end of a game then sitting there and Pwning it til I have a godly, godly, god of a game and I couldn't do that with this one... I have to stop and do that on the 3rd disc... it just left more to be desired. Other than that awesome game!
PS. I loved that card game, but maybe that's cuz I whoops-a** at it. xp

I love it, too. It was my first FF, and it's still my second favorite. I love the characters, the junctioning (though I've heard that a lot of people hate that), and just the feel of the game.
P.S. I love Triple Triad too, but then I started playing one of the online versions of the game and discovered that I'm not quite as good as I thought. sweatdrop

I love it very much.
It was my first FF too, and I played it like... 350 hours. When I played it through, I started a new game. And that a couple of times.
FFVIII is just perfect.

My only complaint was the orphanage plot twist in the third disc, sure it made sense on some things, why Irvine chocked when attempting to assassanate the sorceress, but everything else was fine IMO. Not a perfect game because honestly, no game is perfect.

I have to go with the majority here and say I loved it. A lot of people I know didn't get into it. A lot of it had to do wih the plot, which I thought was excellent. I thought the system was simple enough to get down, granted, it was more complicated than in previous games. Also, Triple-Triad was by far my favorite minigame in any FF.

Though VII will always remain my favorite, VIII is a VERY close second. Despite the junctioning system I still love it, the many many extra locations and secrets you can find. The complex relationships between characters, the fact that you really have to put some brainpower into it! Plus the fact that you get paid!!! xp that's always goood.

The juction systems were not time consuming. It is used to make your characters better. Its kind of like the "time consuming" materia in ffVII where you had to raise your materia to ceartain lvls in order to gain much different and powerful magic. I have made my point...lolz 4laugh
