The birth of Ariana The story begins on a stormy day in the elven kingdom of Ellestaire, most of the elves in the kingdom were rejoicing, for this was a great day, the day the heir to the throne would be born. Through all the thunder and the lightening the earth was flowering and soon would blossom, you could hear the trees revelling while lapping up the rain, the flowers rejoicing, the grass full of excitement, the woods were alive! There would soon be a new prince to rule the kingdom if anything unfortunate were to happen to their good king Allesto. This was a happy day, even the birds and the animals of the woods were rejoicing. As a great cry rang out thunder and lightening spilled through the sky. It was foretold on a stormy day such as this that a great heir to the throne of Ellestaire would be born, one who would save them from approaching wars between the humans, the half elves, and the dwarves. It was coming. To the outside world it did not look it, all was peaceful, perhaps if they knew that there would be a great war trying to tear apart the nations they may not be peaceful and partying on always drunk in their tankards. But the elves and elven lands knew it was approaching, never one to get in anyones affairs and keeping to themselves they couldn't understand why they would need protection from the impending doom. They had easily stayed out of affairs for thousands of years. Anyone approaching their woods would simply disappear, never to be seen again. No race had ever made it into their territory and came back out to tell about it. Theirs was a proud and peaceful nation, maybe too proud, but not as peaceful as they would have liked to think. For on this very day, Rohar the dark elf was plotting against his king, the very name Rohar meant evil, pure evil. As the son of the hated dark elf Rovene, he carried his fathers same hatred of the king, even more so than his own father. Banished to the farthest reaches of the dark woods their hatred grew and festered. They devised new magiks that those "peaceful" elves couldn't possibly imagine. They were elves that delved in magik between the living and the dead. Putrid fumes hung about the dark woods making them darker than they had been in 10,000 years. Rohar laughed and the most gruesome sound came from his mouth, one would wonder if it was really a laugh at all. His sister was in the castle, and before those ignorant elves knew what was happening she would kill their beloved hope, the newborn child and heir to the throne. Rohar thought today is a good day, and that evil sound came out of his mouth again as the fumes rose higher from the dark woods to hover over the trees and look on to the kings' castle. It is here Rohar thought as the great cry could be heard all through Ellestaire, the child is born. All that could be heard in the castle was the great cry of the queen Javina and then the sounds of a newborn crying as it took its first breath. "This can't be!" "What? What is it? I hear the baby crying, all is well? Is it not?" The queens worried voice cried out. King Allesto laughed a hearty laugh. "Yes, all is well my dear Javina, I don't think this one will be the king though, it is a girl!" Javina laughed, it was a tinkling sound complimenting the kings' hearty laugh, "a girl!" The nurse maid placed the wide green eyed elven newborn in her mothers arms. "Well," Javina said, "we did not expect a girl, what shall we name her? I guess the prophecy will have to wait until our next child!" Another tinkling laugh sprang forth. "We shall name her Ariana, which means most pure, how does that sound my dear?" The king said with another boom of laughter. "Yes," said the queen, "that is beautiful! Just like our daughter!" So, on that day, the first day of blossoming, Ariana was born.

Ariana's power Green ooze sloshed under his feet as he walked madly through the forest. He hadn't heard from his sister in eight years! How could she? he thought. She was supposed to kill the child! What has happened to her? No news for eight long years. Was she killed in the attempt? No, I would have heard of that, someone trying to kill the kings child. Then she is a traitor! He crashed through the undergrowth. He was going mad with his own anger billowing like clouds above him and a river of hate below him. Nothing and no one to talk to accept himself and the minions he created with death, life and hatred. Pure hatred. He trudged over to his orbanu, his seeing stone, and once again looked for his traitorous sister. He saw the girl peering back through its red depths, he could always see the elven child named Ariana or the king and queen, but never his sister. He laughed, pitiful, he thought. A girl, she could never dream to touch the power and the havoc I am planning. But everything that Rohar had sent her way in all these eight years had failed. It had first started with his sister, who no one had heard from, onto any spell or being he sent her way never worked. Still staring into the red depths he saw an interesting site. Butterflies. A whole pack of butterflies fluttering madly around her until they made a shield completely around her, engulfing her in the wings, and then they all vanished, and the girl, gone. Disappeared. "No!" he screamed. So, she has learned the art of Tyumi. In the gardens the king and queen gasped. For never in 10,000 years had a Tyumi user ever had been seen. It was the ancient elven magik that used butterflies. Most of it's magik was unknown, sealed up in the ancient tomes that none touched because of the dangers and extreme magik that none could wield. These butterflies were an ancient clan of Tyumidra. They would choose only to use the most powerful creature, as they were drawn to power. Only the pure of heart could use them and not go mad or turn evil. "This is not good," Javina said in a worried voice. "No, such power. We shall have to make her leave. This could be the evil that the prophecy told of. The child you bear now may have to fight his own sister! No! We shall make her leave right away!" The king's voice boomed out. "But Allesto! She is still our child! You would banish your own child? She is still too young to be on her own." The queen cried out. "Then we shall send her with her handmaiden, and that half-human, Tannen. That way all the abominations would leave!" The queen gasped, "please Allesto! You don't really feel that way do you? She is our own flesh and blood! And Tannen! My sister cannot help that she was savaged by the human mercinaries! He is still a part of my family Allesto!" "He is human! I will hear no nonsense! They will leave! Tonight!" "Allesto! How will you tell your own daughter! I will not! I will not be a part of this!" "You will do as your king tells you to do!" "Yes my," Javina said quietly "king!" she screamed out. Tears streaming down Javina's face she fled off to the kitchens to prepare travelling food for the three now banished elves. Just as she put the last of the food into its pouch there was a fluttering of wings behind her, suprised, Javina turned around to find her daughter standing there with her eyes glowing. "Purple?" Javina questioned startled. "Hello mother" Ariana said as her eyes turned back to the vivid green that was Ariana's true color. "Are we going somewhere?" "The king wants to meet with you, Tannen and Marrissa in the room of legions." Javina said in a hollow voice. "The room of legions? Is not that.....?" "Yes it is," her mother cut in. "But what have we done?" "You will find everything out when the king tells you." "But why can father not tell me in my quarters or at supper time?" "You will address him as the king today and forevermore!" "But mother!" "Just go! Come to me after, I am not allowed into the room of legions." So Ariana set off to meet her father in the room of legions. She had never been in that room before, she was not allowed. But she heard things, things that happened in the room of legions and none of it was good. Elves went into that room and were never seen from or heard of again. She walked numbly through the corridors not taking in all the beauty around her. At last, she reached the door. She hardly noticed that it was a beautiful door, it looked golden with autumn leaves engraved intricately through it, almost looking real but with a golden hue. Ariana reached for the handle as she heard footsteps behind her. Turning she saw Tannen and Marrissa looking wide-eyed and somber. "I always knew this day would come." Tannens voice rang out. "What Tannen?" Ariana questioned. "Do you not know? I am but a half-elf, yet they call me half-human. I am hated and despised because of my lineage. As if my mother chose this! I hear their whispers, they all wish my mother would have died instead of bare me!" "Tannen! Do not say such things!" Ariana said. "Oh Tannen, I am so sorry you have had to hear those things," Marrissa continued, "they are just being ignorant, you are a wonderful person!" "Let us just get this overwith." The girls agreed as Ariana reached again for the door with a feeling that life was not going to be the same, ever again.
