Mind you this is just a few of the many different types, then you also have cross breeding.
Wood Dragons:
Wood Dragons are creative, imaginative, and inquisitive. They are thinkers and doers, and are VERY capable of brilliant new concepts. Their every move is lead by the sound of logic and reason. Their drive and ambition allow them to put many of their ideas into practice, and these Dragons are capable of concealing their domination and they try not to offend ors. They will even compromise, if it has advantages. Not as self-centered as or Dragons, They are outspoken and fearless when challenged.
Fire Dragons:
Fire Dragons are the most outgoing and competitive of Dragons. They tend to push too hard and expect a lot from everyone. Their criticisms are objective… and they have the gift to stir massive popular support. Their unstable goals make them short-tempered and intolerable. They are the builders of empires, however they need to master their less favorable traits and learn how to communicate more… nicely (for a lack of a better term.) with people as individuals.
Earth Dragons:
Earth Dragons are the quieter, more reflective Dragons. They are appreciative of others opinions, even if they do not agree with them. They are reasonable in their ways and approach to problems and their leadership is not dictatorial (Dictatorship). They do not give into outburst of temper but they do demand respect. They know the value of cooperation and are more diplomatic than the other Dragons. They are ambitious, but their goals are less hurried and more carefully thought out.
Metal Dragons:
Metal Dragons are the most strong-willed of the Dragons. They are inflexible, unbending, and aggressive. They give little or no regard to the feelings of others. This mercilessness can result in a rapid rise to a position of power, but often at the cost of destroying important relationships. It is pointless to attempt to persuade them that certain things are simply not-doable. They will go do anything alone if they can't gain support. They succeed because they refuse to accept failure.
Water Dragons:
Water Dragons are less egotistical and opinionated than the other Dragons. They are more reserved and less power-hungry. They can accept defeat without reproaching the defeat. They are good negotiators seeing as they know when, where, and how to apply pressure. They have a tendency to be over-optimistic and need to learn how to surrender what is unworkable so that they can concentrate their energies on the most satisfying actions.
Green Dragons:
Green Dragons, being the smallest, tend to cause many people to think of them as the weakest. They are not physically powerful, but they are the dragons of the Earth Element and are material beings. Green, the color of all life, are small but are very important… and they tend to crack the funniest jokes.
Gold Dragons:
Gold Dragons are known as the honorable knights of the dragon world. They are not only brave, kind, wise, and honorable, but very adept in the field of Magick. They love taking on other shapes such as humans and animals and they enjoy intermingling with other species, such as humans. They are the keepers of peace and will only attack someone if provoked and in self-defense only.
Yellow Dragons:
These Dragons love to live in the deserts, mountain and plains. They are very helpful when they need to be. They can be quite boastful and picky at times when they aren’t truly needed or you haven’t asked their aid.
Red Dragons:
These fire dragons are very wise and courageous leaders, but they have a dark side to them. They are known to be jealous and egotistical, sometimes to the point of hate. They represent fear and war, but they also represent passion, both good and foul.
Blue Dragons:
Blue Dragons enjoy watery areas. While those that live in the desert are warring with the Bronze Dragons. Many of these dragons live near water or on very high mountain tops. They are compassionate, peaceful, loving, intuitive, calm and easily forgive others. They are often lazy and known to have a lack of emotional control.

Alrighty. Cool.
Dragon Code of Honor
DragonKind are always honorable.
Be true to yourself and to all others.
Respect yourself, your kin and always remember… all living things are your kin.
Never harm another for self-gain… only in self-defense.
Honorably protect yourself and those you cherish.
Never steal or take anything that you have not earned by your own hand.
Talk kindly with others and always speak the truth. Be forthright and just.
Respect all life-forms and their right to live on this Earth and other Worlds, honor each other and take care in all you do with love in your heart.
May your Song of Color be true.

hahah oh wow. that dragon code of honor thing made me laugh. look, us dragons really don't need to do jack s**t. we live for whatever we want to. i expect nothing but hate, and hell, if i can get paid to kill people again, lke i did in my last life in the 1600s, i'll do it.

I think it's a code of honor the more lawful or good dragons adhere to. Not all dragons have to follow this code and like you said some down right laugh at it especially the chaotic or evil dragons. I actually found it to be interesting, but I myself am more of a nuetral dragon.

lawful good is an rpg term *slaps forehead* trust me, i used to play dungeons and dragons with a few friends. never could get into it. nor am i an evil person. i dont believe that evil is static, but that it's a creation of foolish humans trying to find a single word for what defies their own morality. When it comes down to it i'll do what i please. am i callous? yes. am i brutal? yes. do i value human life very heavily? not usually no. the majority of modern humans are useless and unworthy of life. would i kill someone for money? depends on who they are, what they've done, and what they'll leave behind. Honor is also non-static. it varies from culture to culture. if killing someone else keeps me alive, i'll do it, if its the only way out. talking kindly with others? ******** you. respect is earned, not freely given, though in true celtic style, i'll be respectful to you as long as you've never been disrespectful to me. Dragonkind are not always honorable after any fasion. i just got finished kicking out a clan of murderers and bulies from my astral realm. they killed my 'parents', for want of a better term, kicked everyone out, confined me to a temple, tried to break in on numerous occasions, and consistenetly beat on anyone unfortunate enough to visit the area. it took me a month to clear those sonsofbitches out, and another two weeks to make those who chose to stay learn their place(after a few assassination attempts, you lose your temper. the elves are very good at punishing traitors).
this very wiccan-ish code of honor is pathetically unable to deal with the realities of life and unlife. FAIL.

I know perfectly well lawful good is an rpg term I also play D&D and I never claimed you were evil. All I was saying was that some dragons may actually follow this code. I, like you, do what I want and will fight for what's mine. Like you said honor is a culture thing and there may be some cultures of dragons that follow this, although the more I think on it and how dragons actually are it probably unlikely. I still find it an interesting view point but yes it is very wiccanish. It reminds me of the wiccan rede or the rule of three.

which again, woefully inadequate and innacurate, not to mention massively fluffy.
i also have a huge problem with these decidedly roleplayerish classifications, though i fit into a few of them. for example, i'm blue. i live, however in a forested area bordered on one side by a mountain belt and on another by a valley with a small lake(on the astral plane that is). the only two that really fit me there are metal and some aspects of earth.
