I noticed a few members have posted questions in the midst of the test engagement. I figured it may be a good idea to place a thread here so any one with questions or concerns can ask them. I feel really bad about deleting those post in the test engagement thread. So I appologize to those of you whose posts I deleted. I did respond to your questions in a PM before deleting them though, I promise. So feel free to voice your comments, questions, concerns, advice, anything you have about our battle system. Any advice and ideas will be very much appriciated. I hate doings things all by myself, I prefer to work with several people to come up with solutions. So don't be afraid to speak your mind (unless you can't say it nicely wink ) Arigato~

here's one! what will the stat-ups for level ups going to be? maybe fighting and mage classes both get a unique bonus? or every class getting it's own bonus (like thieves get speed, fighters get attack) or is that not done yet? (i wouldn't blame anyone, it's alot of work, and we all have lives)

That actually, I need to figure out. I'm afraid to say, we haven't even figured out all the kincs in the battle system, let alone the leveling-up process or even how the system itself will work. I'm sorry. If you know anyone who might be able to help with that, please let me know.

<[Thinking of you, wherever you are We pray for our sorrows to end,]>
Just a thought but... How abouts we start off with 25/30 stat points which we may distribute into ATK, DEF, INT and RES.
I know that some jobs have different movement ranges/jump but for the sake of making things easier we could use four move 2/3 jump. If you wish I can check this up for you maybe?
Use your provided evasions and have speed a little higher than the evade.
Use your provided HPs non magic users can start with 15 MP, magic users can start with 30?
Begginery equips and a maxium of two mastered abilities and as many learning as you may learn with your current equips.
LEVEL UP
Give the character 5 points to put into stats. However some stats are more useful than others so maybe: +1 ATK/DEF/INT/RES will take one point +5 HP/MP will take one point +1 EVD/SPEED will take three/four points Jump and move will only be effected by equips.
So if people really want they can make attack mages for the fun of it? Not so sure abut any of this so yeah... especially the +1 EVD/SPEED thing. I'll leave it to Marth-chan to decide the final numbers
I can also be the character sheet approver after these numbers and things are confirmed. By the way - the abilities list is on its way! It will have : Description MP cost Range Area of effect (AOE) Element Type. Do tell if I'm forgetting something in there...
<[And hope that our hearts will blend. Now I will step forward to realise this wish.]>

I love you. Thank you for your help! heart
Actually, I very much like your udea of letting them decide. You're right. Giving them a choice with a set amount is a great idea. I believe most races have a jump of 3. If I remember correctly, Nu Mou and Bangaa have crappy jump, so they can be 2. I definately need to look in on the HP and MP thing. I've been meaning to go onto gamefaqs and see if they have anything there. Yes to the mastered and learning abilities. Yes to your level-up idea. I like that. That will give the characters diversity. :3
And I would love to have you approve the character stat sheets. 100%
Thank you for making the abilities list. At this point I hate lists. When you finish it, let me know and I will post it all over the guild!

Okay, lets all start with 25 points then (unless you prefer 30) ^__^ As soon as you post the movements and jumps I'll start approving the character creation sheets.
I will be posting the Human abilities in the Tutorial Panel soon.
[EDIT] Posted. Rest of abilities is on their way. The thread has been stickied.

Just so you know, I'm closing the test battle. It's a wreck. This will also let us fix the characters people have posted. Some are on like level 5. I'd like to refine the character creation thing before we do anything. I'm going to try and get some serious help with the battle system. I'll ask that stats be kept the same. And I'll check out game faqs for class stats and such and I'll get back to you on that. Thank you so much for the abilities and so on, I really appriciate your help.

Wait, so the RP forum actually has a real, honest-to-goodness battle system?!? Where can I find a comprehensive guide to the soon-to-be system? This is right up my alley! Ever since I was a kid, I was designing tabletop RPG's! blaugh
I will haunt the game once it's done! I already have an idea of the character I'd like to make 4laugh

Has it? That's great! You will definitely be hearing from me soon.
Sadly, I was forced to resort to a Dungeons and Dragons system because there were too many calculations in the actual script of the game. I was told I did very well in mimicking the actual battle system from the game...sadly, most people aren't that good at math which threw the entire thing out the window.
However! When I transfer to a better college and begin actually learning this stuff, the system will change! I'm already making plans for a flash calculator to use to do the calculations for us. But, I suck at flash, so I have to learn it first.
I'm about 75% finished with the Dungeons and Dragons conversion. But the system will constantly be updated.

I think what you might be looking at is the d20 system rather than the D&D system; the d20 system is based on the D&D system (or is it the other way around, I always forgot... 4laugh )
Anyway, that is sort of my area of expertise: Sheef + d20 = Happy Sheef, so if you need any assistance I'd be happy to oblige.

XD Yes, you're right. The D20 system is what I meant.
I've already enlisted you, as you probably have about ten PMs from me in your inbox. biggrin
