Everyone has some kind of hobby, some way they spend the day after they have finished with hard work. Most people enjoy discussing their hobbies.
So--what is it you do? Do you knit? Kayak? Sew? Play soccer? Polish silver? Tell us! Post pictures if you would like--or maybe links to pictures, since I do not think gaia allows attachments.
And of course, at any point at all, you may start a new thread that is about your favorite pastime.

Well, I like making jewelry, digital painting, biking, reading, and writing. However, I haven't done any of those for a while now. How sad! Well, I've done some reading, but not much. I need to make a point to get back into the jewelry and painting, especially since I can't bike in the ice and snow. smile

Nyxyn makes lovely jewelry!
I enjoy reading, especially fantasy and mystery novels. I also hand-sew, making dolls and stuffed animals. I was trying to teach myself embroidery, but that fell by the wayside a while back.
Oh, and I like to cook, particularly breads and cakes! smile

breads?
mmm, making bread has always appealed enormously to me, i try the packet mixes you can get occasionally, but those homebaked loaves seem to shrink don't they? ninja one minute you've only had a slice or two..the next half the loaf has gone...
years ago my Mum made cheese and onion corn bread, i have very fond memories of that bread, even though i've rarely eaten it since, maize flour isn't readily available in the UK, but i really want to make some, someone in another guild i'm in is married to a chef, and he made cheese and jalapeno cornbread last Thanksgiving, i nearly eat the screen when i was reading her post about it, have you ever made anything like that? i really want a recipe! domokun

Yes, loaves do seem to shrink! Fresh from the oven...mmmm. Bread is fairly easy-going, actually, so if you want to make it--do! There are all kinds of lovely recipes out there! Cornbread's yummy. I've never made jalepeno cornbread as I like mine sweet (Southern corbread wink ), but it can't be that much different from regular cornbread. This looks like a decent recipe.

Poppetta i'd love to make jewellery! can you show us any examples of your work? digital art sounds like extremely good fun too, i've seem some amazing stuff online 3nodding Sure! Maybe I'll make a new thread for it. I intend to start getting back into the swing of digital painting this weekend. I'll force myself to put aside the computer games. wink Ooh, I love bread. It was always my favorite thing to make, and eat. smile I'm not supposed to eat it though, thanks to my stupid thyroid. sad Oh, how could I forget photography? I also like photography. I haven't taken any photos all winter though. It was sunny today, so I took a couple on my short walk to the mailbox. smile

I knit, although I just took it up. I love to write and role play, I read science fiction mostly with a splash of fantasy and horror. The only mysteries I read are The Cat Who books by Lillian Jackson-Braun. I love to do math, honestly I find it relaxing. I just picked up a book called God Created the Integers. It's about the history of math and the title comes from a fameous quote: "God created the integers, all the rest are the works of man."

i read, but not as much as i used to before the net came into my life ninja i did start learning to crochet and that's something i want to continue. i bought a digital camera last month and i'm going to wander round my town taking pictures. i have an intention to grow things, i requested a 3 tier plant stand for Christmas, so now i have 9 feet of growing space in my kitchen window whee it's home to an ivy and a spider plant at the moment, but i'm intending to grow herbs and salad leaves when i get some seed trays! plus some cherry tomatoes maybe domokun

lol yes, Storm is such a math geek even her math professor calls her a math geek. She's just a baby math geek now though. Give her a few years to really get into it and then I'm sure she'll single handedly revitalize our mad scientist sub forum. Afterall, if you stared into the math long enough, you'd go mad too. wink
I just got back from bowling for the first time in years. It was fun and I did it terribly. I like to read and cook and garden. I planted some lilys in the fall that I have high hopes for.

I like roleplaying, playing video games, spamming up forums (not really, I only post if I have something to say mad d ), reading and drawing (I'm seriously considering starting a webcomic but it'll have to wait until I have a decent graphics tablet that's compatible with GIMP 2.2 mad ), and I have the usual Gaian's fixation on anime and manga. I don't tend to do so much science and maths stuff in my free time but I'm sure that'll change. I do a little extra homework but there's not enough of a challenge so I get bored. sweatdrop

i enjoy bowling 3nodding i'm not especially good, usually manage to get into 3 figures though so i don't totally disgrace myself rolleyes
haven't been for a very long time though, seeing as i'm so horribly anti-social and there's no bowling alley in this town.
i need to get more into cooking, unfortunately for financial reasons! i live on my own and am on minimum wage, i usually get by by simply not going anywhere or buying anything new. last year i caved and bought some new clothes, 3 pairs of boots, some skirts, tops and knitwear, and a coat. not all at once, and every single item was in the sale! but with that spending, and Christmas, i'm now over-drawn sad by £846 ($1643)at the moment gonk
it's quite demoralising, i watch my bank balance build over the month( i get paid weekly) then see it plummet again on the 1st when the rent and so on comes out neutral
the only place i can budget is with my grocery shopping, so i shall be getting creative in the kitchen! sweatdrop
to be honest, i'm quite looking forward to the challenge though ninja as it's something that i HAVE to do, plus, an easy way for me to shed the excess pounds that i'm carrying!

Ah, hobbies. How I miss those. The only ones I really have time for now are reading and Gaia. And Gaia often gets pushed out of the picture by homework, followed by reading.
When I have the time, I enjoy writing (I wish I could finish something that I started, though), horseback riding (haven't been for more than a year and a half, and it's making me depressed), and watching Stargate SG-1 (I don't even have time to watch one episode, ulness I want to cut into my sleep!). I've had to ditch all three in the last year or so, because of school and work. AP classes drive me up the wall. Thankfully they'll be pretty much over by the second week of May.
I think I've picked up a new pastime, though: hide-and-seek-tag. n.n I went to play with some of my co-workers last night. So much fun. Sadly, my mother grounded me for a week, since we "didn't call" (what prevented her from calling, hmm?), and she probably won't let me go ever again anyway. But it was still fun. And since it was on a Friday, I didn't have to worry about homework so much.

playing can be super fun when you haven't done it for years. apart from the fact that because you haven't done it for years it tires you out extremely fast! it's a great stress reliever though, i think the trouble with most of the games that adults play is that they're competitive, people get the nasty urge to be better than everyone else, and that takes the fun away.
Grown-ups should be able to play like kids do, with swings and climbing frames and trampolines, it would improve our health and make us laugh and feel alive again 3nodding
