Well, what you found was obviously a book based on Buddhist beliefs. In Buddhism- and I think Hinduism and Jainism too, but I only had a class on Buddhism, so can only speak for them- people have 8 chakra centers in the body.

When you meditate, or do tantric yoga, you help to open up these energy gates, etc. The 3 last ones- going from the Brow Chakra onwards(though you seem to be missing the last one..)- are only supposed to be attainable for monks and nuns and such who have been doing this stuff for years and are pretty near to enlightenment(though they might not reach it this time around, purposely, to help others.. but that's complicated and a whole other story..). When you are finally able to open those last 3 chakra gates, it's supposed to give you these special abilities- ever heard of stories of crazy things Tibetan monks can do, almost like they have 'powers' or something?... I think it's bull, but that's what they think happens..

Anyway, there's lots more I could explain, but idk if anyone even wants to hear it... But yeah, Buddhists believe in chakra centers. So they're a real thing- at least if you're Buddhist, lol.

I believe chakra is also known as chi, too, among other names that I can't remember. ._.

I have believed chakra was real for a very long time now, so this chart that you've given me really helps me out. I've meditated before, but never as seriously as I should. I'll start studying up on it more, and see for myself.

If you're into this kinda stuff and want to learn more, a really good book explaining all of the chakra points and everything else, more in depth, but in a nice, understandable way is Introduction to Tantra by Lama Yeshe.
That's what we had to read for my Tibetan Buddhism class, and although most of the other books were complicated and I didn't even bother reading them, that one was interesting and easy to understand.

Yeah, chakra's real, but you won't be able to summon giant frogs with it or anything. It might help you focus and stuff, and pull off cool feats like a yogi, but it takes a lot of training to do stuff liek that... heart sweatdrop

I've read a book that depicted chakra as like, your aura.. (like someone said earlier, 'chi'...)

Aurora Marija, you should totally continue your explanation.. it's cool! ^^
