I await my angel in the velvet night And seek the light within the void For all alone I live my life All but her love I do avoid
There was a time when she stood near And my life was full of light But even then, the winter came And stole my candle bright
I walked alone in the dark The solitude of my night In that emptiness I cried Alone, with none to aid my plight
Then, from the blackness My angel came forth Though she returned but briefly In her my life again had worth
But then again she was gone Stolen by my foe Who knew not what he had taken And caused the angel woe
I struggled to free the angel But it was all in vain And, in her captivity The angel screamed in pain
Finally, when hope seemed lost The angel became free But, through all her struggles She had forgotten me
She thought herself abandoned And that I had moved on I tried to show her otherwise, But my angel was gone
Again I searched for my angel Across the blank world far and wide But the angel took no notice In spite of all I tried
In the caves of my despair The angel came to me And with her radiance She released me
But then the angel fled again And left me to despair Without my angel once again The world was no longer fair
Then the light returned The angel was not gone She stood beside me once again As my light came back on
I now stand beside my angel With her all my life No longer in the darkness Her love illuminates my life

I like. It's a very simple rhyme scheme, but those are often the best. It's kind of sad from the beginning, but warms towards the end. I like that. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. (As opposed to on the outside, which I get all the time.)
This is really good.

I know the feeling all too well. Keep it up, seriously. Those who can command the language of their birth influence the world like no others can.

Hey, if you want, I can PM you the beginning of my...um, I guess 'novel' (or maybe the cause of my insanity. The jury's still out on that one), and if you like it, I'll send more. I might post more stuff here, too.
