Ali lay on the cold ground in front of the Temple of Time. A single raven flew over, landed near her, and started pecking at her hand so it tickled. "Hey, quit it!" She laughed, but the bird kept pecking. "Raya stop it!" She said, laughing even harder. The bird looked up and tilted it's head. "You can changs back now, you know?" She said, throwing some bread off into the bushes to her side, the bird chased after the bread. A few minutes later a boy came out from the bushes.
"So, what'd you find out, Raya?" Ali asked. Raya looked at his feet. "Tell me!" Ali begged. Raya nodded, "he's returned, Ganondorf has returned............." He said, barely being able to get the words out, staring at the ground. "What?! Where'd you hear this?!" Ali barked, not wanting to beleive it. "......Everywhere, from the Gerudo Desert to the Kokiri Forrest........... Hyrule is the only place that doesn't know." He said, hating to be the one to tell Ali. "And with no one being allowed in or out of Hyrule, we'll never be prepaired for the battle in time......." Raya whispered, hoping that this wasn't to much for Ali, who had drifted off into thought, "if I tell anyone, they'll think that I'm lying......" Just then an idea popped into Ali's head, "Raya, how many guards do you think will be at the bridge tonight?!" She asked quietly, not wanting anyone else to hear her. "Uh, oh, uhm, five, fifteen maybe..... why?" Raya asked with a worried expression. "I'm breaking out." Ali grinned.
"Wait! Ali, don't!" Raya said, trying to convince her to not attempt another break out. "Why?! I'm not gonna just sit here and wait for my !" Ali said, glaring at him, getting to her feet. "I'm not like you, I can't just fly away when times go bad!" She thought, and started to walk away. "Did you forget what happened last time, Ali?!" Raya said, trying one last time to convince her to stay. Ali stopped, "no, how could I forget?!" she thought, touching the back of her shirt which covered her scars, then ran off.
"I just don't want you to be hurt again......" Raya said quietly as soon as Ali was out of ear shot.
Hours passed but to Ali the night just wouldn’t come quick enough. “Come on!” She sighed. Raya’s words ran through her head “did you forget what happened last time, Ali?!” She mouthed the words, and shivered at the memory of her last break out. The punishment had been terrible, so why was she doing it again? “Raya can fly away whenever he wants…… so why does he stay in Hyrule? “ Ali spoke quietly to herself. Ali tried to think happy thoughts……… but all she could think of was what happened last time…………
{Flashback}
“Mom!” Ali screamed, running over to a woman who lay unconscious on the cold ground of a back alley. “Mommy! Wake up! Please wake up, please!” She cried, throwing herself down next to the woman. covered the woman’s neck. “Mommy, please!” She sobbed. A snicker came behind her. “Odd, I didn’t know rebels had children!” A woman’s voice said in a harsh tone, but Ali didn’t pay attention. “She’s kid, she isn’t going to respond!” The woman laughed, Ali tried to ignore the woman’s cold words, but it was just to much. Her mother was and she couldn’t bring her back. Ali jerked around to see who it was, but when she truly opened her eyes, no one was there, and all that was left was a piece of folded parchment. Ali ran up to it, grabbed it, and ran back to her mothers side. She unfolded paper and tried to figure out what it said, but she couldn’t read it, it had to of been in a different language.
“It’s a secret code.” A quiet and raspy voice said, but Ali could tell it wasn’t the same person that had been there before. She twirled around trying to find who was talking to her now. “Foolish child, you can’t see me, you won’t see me.”
Ali tried to say something, but she was simply speechless. “Well, it’s not a secret code, it’s a Gerudo code….” The voice sighed, “one that that woman helped create…. One of the reasons Hyrule is in exile…..” The voice was starting to creep Ali out, and a simple “huh?” was all she managed to get out. “Eh? You don’t know? No one is allowed in or out of Hyrule! Not since they died!” It said in a serious tone. “Since,”-Ali cleared her throat-“Since who died?” She asked. “By blazes of Din! Do they even pass on the stories anymore?!” The voice sounded shocked, “uhm, what story?” Ali asked. “So this is the place you were talking about, Farore…..” The voice said quietly, and Ali could barely understand the words, Ali looked down at her mother, then at her hands. They were covered in her mothers . “Do you want to avenge your mothers ?” The voice asked, Ali nodded, then added “Who are you?”
“Aha”-The voice laughed-“aha ha ha! Did I not tell you?” The voice asked rhetorically in a some-what shriek. “Who ever this is, is really weird........” Ali thought. “I am Kaiagaiabora, a messenger of the goddesses!”-The voice paused-“and now….. I bid you farewell!” Kaiagaiabora announced. “No! Wait!” Ali looked around, “who are the goddesses?! Please, tell me! Can they save my mommy?! Can they tell me what these markings mean?! Please, oh please, tell me!” Ali begged………… No answer…
The alley grew quiet, and now all that remained was a woman and an eight-year-old . “Mommy….” Ali started “Mommy, please wake up! Please tell me what these markings mean!” She tried to hold back the tears, but couldn’t, “mommy, please don’t leave me! Don’t forget me, please!” She sobbed, a raven swooped down, grabbing the paper Ali had held, rather carelessly, loose. “Wait, no! I need that!” She cried. “No… now there’s nothing that I can do…..” She said, quietly, then lay next to her mother and sobbed even harder. “Do you want to avenge your mothers ?” Kaiagaiabora’s words ran thru her head. Of course she did….. but she didn’t even know who killed her mother. “And what’s a Gerudo?” She thought, she had more questions then answers. Ali noticed that her mothers left hand was in a fist, Ali lifted the fingers until they lay flat on the ground. In the hand lay another folded up piece of parchment……. Again she unfolded it, hands shaking, and tears racing to the ground.
