Welcome to ze thread.
Last weekend, my family bought a pet dog from the SPCA. The night we got him, I lay awake at night, feeling as though I was going to vomit from sheer worrying about Gismo - our dog - getting hurt because he likes to chase trucks. The scenario kept running over and over through my mind, making me sicker and sicker.
Eventually, I just started praying to God to get me through that night. And then I took my tiger plushie in my arms, held it close, and felt a lot better. Really, noticeably, better. The next night, I had the same experience, but I didn't feel as bad. And so forth for the next few nights.
I've often questioned my own lack of faith because of these occurrences. So I confronted one of my Christian friends about this, and according to him, prayer is tantamount to worship. Imagine that. An atheistic person like myself who worships a deity. Eighteen years old, and I'm still wondering about my religious affiliation, if any.
