Well see, where I live there are quite a few highschools. There are a top three in the inter city though. Central, RedRover, and South....yes stupid names I know. Well, I live right across the street from Central, and have my whole life. RedRover was too far away, and South was such a prep school.
When I decided to go there, I really had no problem with it. I knew it wasn't a very good school, or a very wealthy one, but neither was my middle school. I survived that (mostly) and so I could survive this, all I needed was my friends.
All my friends went to South. For a while I couldn't handle it, but I made some new friends and still see my old ones on weekends and such. Well a couple weeks ago one of my best friends, Peter, that I've known since thrid grade, took my skating. Truthfully all he talked about was South.
He told ne towards the end of the night that one of my best friends that I haven't seen in over five years and that I missed so much, went to south now. He told me about their wonderful band program (the one at Central is slowly dwindling and dieing) He tells me that they have a german class (a language I 've wanted to FOREVER)
I figure he's trying to get me to switch. The problem is now I've been at Central almost an ebtire year and have loyalties. I want so bad to go to South, but I can't leave Central. I got a little mad at Peter, I told him that he shouldn't have done that or told me any of that stuff. Which I guess is a little unfair.
Anyway I'm scared now. I'm torn between the two schools. Even three of my friends are switching out of Central now. Which school should I choose?

It sounds to me like South is the better school overall. Even not considering the fact that most of your friends are there, South sounds better on a strictly educational level. Sometimes loyalty to something can override many things, but it sounds to me like staying at Central could seriously hurt your education compared to South, if not anything else. Remember, it is your choice, but South does sound like the smarter choice for you to me smile

Other than the hassle of switching schools, going to South sounds like a good option for you. You'll be getting more options than you have now, and it would be nice for you to be around your friends again. My only suggestion is that you finish out the year at the school you're at, so the transfer isn't as messy, because it would be weird for you to try and catch up on what they've been doing in the classes all year.

What offers a better education? As cold hearted as it may sound, education is a little more important than seeing your friends on a daily basis. Though South seems to offer better Ed, and a few more friends...

I'm just scared to switch. I know my friends are supposed to come second to education, and that south is such a better school, but I can't bear the thought of moving away.
I love Central, the education isn't too bad. But I'm just so worried about in ten years thinking back a regretting moving, or regretting not moving.

School isnt just about friend you need to remember that. Friends are great and help you through school but it is all about the education you recieve so go to the school where you will learn more or atleast learn what you want!
Peter sounds like a cool guy! Dont feel bad about getting mad... I would do the same sweatdrop

Decide what school YOU want to go to, you don't have to be purpuaded to go to a school that you arn't sure about. A good thing to do is make a pro and cons list, and then try to balance your chouce based on the list. Its a win win situation.

I say switch to South. From an educational and social stand point it sounds better. Just like how you stay in touch with your friends from there, once you switch, so will the situations. Instead you'll be seeing your friends from Central on the weekends. then, by the end of the year, if you find that your missing Central, go back smile
