(This is the first debate topic so look alive. I will try to say away from topics like war, religion or abortion because they are done to often. This one is over done to but it is still a little different. Well take it were you want. It maybe mature if you want)

Ok I have noticed trends with the sex education in the beginning it was the parents job then the schools and it goes between the two. So what do you think give a reason! Here are some points about it if you can't think of one. Whose job is it? Schools, Parents, or someone elses. Does it really help the world problems? Should it be required for all? Your experiences with it did it help you, scar you for life, did you ignore it what, or make fun of it? Should it be made required or stay optionally. Should it have more? would you make your own children take it? etc

Now the background answers what it is? and goals
http://www.avert.org/sexedu.htm (the whole page has information)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sex_education another general page

http://www.ejhs.org/volume2/history.htm a history

(I'll give my opinion on the next post. Well I don't like the topic really.... I guess I could delete it but hey its one more topic. I will have two more posted soon with other sexual topics like should Prostitution be legalized. And one on Pornography)

I think it is good to have people informed about the diseases and other topics like protection etc. But I think it should be more individualized for the kids and when they are ready to handle it.

My expierence
Well I was too young and it was like 5th grade when they started it and I cried and couldn't handle it. I have separation issues and did not want to think about growing up. So they let me leave and I never had to go to another one of those and I avoid them religiously. I never had any talks with my parents (I didn't want it). I figured it out on my own. I think it is any relatively intelligent person can figure it out with all the technology.

But to my point, I think it is the parents place more than the school. Because

1. it waste class time like seriously I could have learned something better like grammar

2. Everyone is different and i wasn't ready and some might be gay blah blah it would have to be longer to cover all the bases. The school doesn't know everyone.

I don't care as long as it remains optional so you spread the news but I truly don't think it is required.

My experience:

I started learned this back in 4th grade and didn't like it, I cried in 4th and 5th grade because I hadn't fully mentally matured. Middle school was a dead period since we didn't learn about it. 9th & 10th grade when I took it for health I slept through most of it because I already knew 99% of it. I also never talked with my parents about it because I learned this all on my own and felt that would be a waste of time for the both of us.

Personally, I think perhaps they should teach it to 8th, 9th and 10th graders instead of 4th, 5th and 6th graders.

In my middle school years they did it every year.... (i got to hang out in the libaray....)

I agree little kids aren't ready... but then again kids are getting younger and younger when it comes to becoming sexually active (Like that crevcil cancer shots for girls are given to 10 and 12 year olds because they want to make sure they aren't active yet)

Middle school was rather bland... I don't think they did teach us anything, or if they did, I paid no attention.

I still don't fully understand that shot thing. Kids that young shouldn't be active yet, hell they haven't even hit puberty yet. However, you can't tell with kids these days... they're growing up much faster.

Well The shot prevents a STD that leads to cancer and if you get it before you get the vaccine you are screwed. (I actually got that shot like yesterday... I haven't slept with anyone yet and I figure i should help stop the spread of that ST, besides I don't like the idea from cancer so.... anyway. The doctor looked at me really werid...)

I think our society is oversexualizing the kids of today that is why they are growing up so fast. They also are treated different they get cell phones, and have cable in their rooms and myspaces.....

It doesn't matter who you're being taught to, as long as you can trust the person teaching it to you. For example, one of the easiest ways to get answers is out of your doctor, because they are obviously experience in knowledge of this shtuff. I even had guest speakers who were doctors and the sort come into the school. In fifth grade I remember our teacher made us shout "p***s! v****a! p***s! v****a!" and if someone laughed, we had to start over. Then in 7th grade we had a doctor person come in and tell us and SHOW us different condoms. O.o It was kinda weird. All in all, it really doesn't matter.

Well if you wanted honesty, thats all you had to say.
I never want to let you down or have you go, its better off this way...
For all the dirty looks, the photographs your boyfriend took,
Remember when you broke your foot from jumping out the second floor..?

Really it doesn't matter where you learn it.

You'll end up learning it eventually.

I always hate how they teach it, though, trying to make everything all proper and awkward.

I'm immature and I want to be allowed to laugh at a large overhead projection of a p***s without being scolded.

::pout::

At any rate.

I was taught by an old woman.

In like, fifth grade.

It was traumatizing (most likely spelled that wrong).

She was being way too descripitive.
