The land of the Zodiac consists of four countries – fire, earth, water, and air. Light and dark do not have earthly bodies, and so do not live here with them.
Each country has three kingdoms. The first is the Cardinal, who own the people that pay the taxes. The second is the Fixed, who own the land for the people to live on. The third is the Mutable, who manage the money collected by the people living on the land. The Mutables are the most important because, even though all sides get along, without them the Cardinals and the Fixed would cause war over who owns what.
Not all countries get along. Fire and water hate each other, but both get along with earth and air. Earth and air hate each other, but get along great with fire and water. Together they all keep a reasonable amount of peace between one another.
Each zodiac sign has an element, and every sign with that element goes to that kingdom. Fire is directly across from water, as earth is directly across from air.

FIRE KINGDOM:
Aries is the Cardinal sign. The people living here are energetic, active, initiative, like to be first, take charge, and must do everything right away. Their private property is a forest at the basin of a long canyon, well protected and inaccessible from everyone but the royal family.
Leo is the Fixed sign. Here they are playful, entertaining, want nothing but the best, are a tad bit self-centered, lazy, perfectionist, and very flamboyant. Privately royals here own a tropical desert surrounded by dunes and rocky hamadas.
Sagittarius is the Mutable sign. They are honest, philosophical, and jovial; they like to travel, speak their mind, and overall have very good luck. Nearly all their land is forested.

EARTH KINGDOM:
Capricorn is the Cardinal sign. They are organized, efficient, careful, ambitious, and without them everything would fall into chaos. Royals here have heavily wooded areas.
Taurus is the Fixed sign. They are known for being stubborn, sensual, materialistic, down to earth, practical, money oriented, relaxed, basic, and slow moving but impossible to stop. Much is steppe (grasslands with some trees) stretching for miles at a time.
Virgo is the Mutable sign. Their people are detailed, great workers, and very critical of both others and themselves. They have the most beautiful parts of the forest, with cascading waterfalls and dark pools of fresh water to bath in.

AIR KINGDOM:
Libra is the Cardinal sign. Here the people are good judges of people, fair, peaceful, quiet, art lovers, socially graced, classy, polite, and cooperative. The king and queen own the highest part of the mountains, with Greek-like pillars and too many stairs.
Aquarius is the Fixed sign. Their people are known for being unusual, peculiar, strange, shocking, socially-unacceptable, but true geniuses and very friendly. This sign owns the second-highest areas of the mountain.
Gemini is the Mutable sign. They are famous multitaskers, they communicate well, write, lie, are good at finding things and fast workers, but have difficulty with feelings. People of this sign own the bottom, right where the rock meets the small alpine flowers and grasses.

WATER KINGDOM:
Cancer is the Cardinal sign. They are instinctive, emotionally supportive, comforting, always want what can’t be obtained, pouty when denied what is wanted, moody, protective, and irrational. This island belongs to them
Scorpio is the Fixed sign. They can be vindictive, secretive, obsessive, jealous; they like to figure everyone else out, take everything to the extreme, and will fight to the death over their emotions. The island in the background is theirs.
Pieces is the Mutable sign. They and their people are imaginative, dreamy, creative, magical, tolerant, compassionate, a little self-destructive; they love to dance, are very agreeable, easy to get along with, but hate reality. Most of this sign are mermaiden, but are able to shed their fins and grow legs to walk in damp places on land. A brightly lit coral reef is theirs and always will be.

- Keep violence and romance PG-13 like everything else in Barton Town. Both are encouraged as they keep role-plays alive as long as neither are too graphic!
- There’s a difference between characters being mean to each other, and writers being mean to each other. If you think someone is harassing you contact a mod.
- I can add rules as I see fit!

NAME: Lokapele

ELEMENT: water
APPEARANCE: somewhat short for her age (5'4''), she has blue-tinted silver hair that is very long and flowing. her eyes are a deep aqua-ish blue and... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a266/iSketchedMyLifeAway/Anime Girls/8wijqf.jpg check that out, found it on google. She looks kinda like that.
WEAPONS/ABILITIES/SKILLS: she uses two short daggers as well as a wide range of water based magic. she's also an empath.
PETS: her ferret, Mina, whom she has grown to be able to communicate with over the years she's had her.
BIO: Lokapele is a simple country-girl who lives with her sister and her best friend, and together they're able to make enough money for a decent life doing odd jobs and such. Lokapele is rather fond of using some of her water-based magics as effects for simple shows Mina puts on (brings in a small amount of money).
OTHER: her personality! shes very cheerful, but she has secrets of the past that she won't reveal to anybody and whenever the subject is brought up, she becomes very silent and withdrawn. otherwise shes loud, and all around funny. she's actually very sweet.

NAME: Tobyn- The Dark Wolf

SIGN: Aries
ELEMENT: Fire
APPEARANCE: Tobyn has the appearance of a small young man with piercing blue eyes and long black hair that lays over his face like an ebony waterfall.
WEAPONS/ABILITIES/SKILLS: Tobyn's deepest secret and greatest asset is his ability to change into a monstrous black wolf. Your blood will freeze in it's veins if you ever see this small man not much higher than your waist running at you when without warning a snarling monster of a wolf appears knocking the air out of you as you fall to the ground seeing nothing but those piercing blue eyes as the wolf lands square on your chest baring its glistening fangs.
PETS: Whether in the castle or on the battlefield; a small, blue/gray fox will never stray far from tobyn's heals. Although not really a pet; the fox is one of Tobyn's most loyal companions.
BIO: Tobyn has a mysterious past that noone can trace; not even the historians. All one can know is that throughout history a large dark wolf followed by a small blue fox have appeared in times of need only to disappear egain when the need had been met. When one looks deep into his eyes, they can see not only the gentle sweet kindness that tobyn is well known for, but also a dark secret cloaked by the shadow of darkness.

WEAPONS/ABILITIES/SKILLS: Shonasha lacks any magical ability, save healing, in favor of combat weapons. He finds spells tedious and thus fights instead with a bow and arrow for long range and a small array of daggers for close range.
PETS: He has none.
BIO: Shonasha was originally born into a family living on the land that the Fixed provided. However, his family was uprooted when a local struggle occured between Cardinal and Fixed over the land. His family destroyed along with many others, he was one of many relocated by the Mutables. He has since found himself the adopted son of a Cardinal and due to inherit when the day arrives.
OTHER:Shonasha wishes for a way to make peace between the different countries for fear of a larger scale conflict similar to the one that displaced himself and many younger children.


(when is it that we begin?)

Karine walks around the lake on the outskirts of the Water Kingdom looking for her pet. The baby water dragon did not like being around other and Karine knew he would hide in a place no one thought to look which was why she was searching the lake. Karine looked into the lake, her sea green eyes reflecting the beauty of the water. She stood there waiting. Suddenly the dragon lept out of the water with a splash soaking Karine's clothes. Karine laughs and waits for the dragon to come down to her. As it does the baby dragon splashes her playfully. Karine giggles as she says, "Serina, please behave. How am I going to explain soaked clothes to the town? They already try to find reasons to keep me away."

Karine jumped as she heard a sound behind her and watched as Serina jumped back into the lake and dove down to be hidden from sight. She looked up and was startled to find a man that she did not know before her. Karine noticed that he was a relatively good looking man but the look in his eyes made him seem like he hated the world. She would have to be careful around him just as she was with everyone else. "Hello," she smiled brightly.

Suddenly a man ran up to them. "Sir stay away from her. She is just some no good orphen who can't even use her water powers correctly." She pushed her away from the man and she was so surprised when she fell into the lake. Her eyes went blank as a huge tidal wave forms and forms into a twister. Karine's eyes refocused as the twister heads for the man who had pushed her into the water. "Run away," she whispers as tears flowed down her face. She hated not having control of her powers in which it harmed people.

Raina gave a small sigh as she walked through the quiet trees, watching the sun create speckled patterns on the forest floor. Such a nice day, she thought to herself, stepping into the thin growth that signaled the beginning of the border between the lands of Earth and Water. Though friends at most times, the girl had seldom ventured far beyond her own forest border. It was an important job, as her grandparents had stressed so vehemently while raising her, to keep careful watch on the borders. So far, nothing had happened, but as she stepped into the distinctly quite trees, she felt that might just be about to change.

"Oh, dear. What's going on here?" As if in answer to Raina's nearly whispered question, a dark gray streak appeared from the underbrush and stopped in front of her. She looked down calmly, watching as the cat twitched his's tail, the sign that had always meant that she was to follow. With a mild shrug, she followed the creature out to the border, then stopped abruptly at the sight of a water funnel and two men. Well, this is strange, Raina decided, taking a few steps into the Water domain. "Excuse me, but you're disturbing my forest," the girl interupted, her voice even, yet still demanding attention.
