OMG, I just realized that my daughter still sucks her thumb! I didn't think it would get this bad! She's over 1.5 years old! What can I do to stop her?!?!?!

Just tell her no. Make sure that you inforce it and let her know that she is not allowed to do it. When she's older you can explain why to her. And don't worry about the age, she's not way to old to be taught different.

My son is ten days old and he's already got his thumb in his mouth all the time. Apparently it's better and more natural then a soother though and also less likley to do horrible things to their teeth.

It is pretty natural. My godson is 3 months and teething he sucks his thumb.
you just dont want your child to get so used to it. by the time they go to preschool you want to ween them away for health reason. ever had a five yyear old hold you and all their saliva rub on your skin, what better way to share a cold? also it could affect your childs teeth after they lose their baby teeth. If they are thumbsucking while their adult teeth are growing in then they might have an overbite.
