I asked the author of United Earth for Peace, "How do you propose peace be accomplished?" and received the following response:
Quote:
This is an excellent question. Before peace can truly
happen, we (the human race) must reach some level of
equality for all, men and women. As long as there is
someone saying I am better than you it will not happen.
As long as there is intolerance in the world there can
be no peace.
We cannot have peace while there are people who believe
that their religion is the best religion and are
willing to kill all the heretics and unbelievers
unwilling to convert to their way of thinking. While a
handful of Muslims seem to dominate the headlines today
and are poor examples of the religion of Islam;
Christian history (not much better) is a trail of blood
knee-deep. We must learn tolerance and learn to allow
all men to worship how, where, or what they may, and
learn to respect the beliefs of others that we may live
in harmony with each other.
Peace will not happen as long as there are super rich
and the super poor. This creates envy. We look at the
world through filtered glasses that values human life
by what one has; peace can only happen when we value
other human beings as unique individuals. Greed is a
destroyer of peace and people. Next to greed is the
desired for power. As long as there are others who seek
to be in charge and are willing to spend millions of
dollars to gain positions of power there will be no
peace.
Peace can only begin when we begin to address the
inequality on an individual level. Until all have
adequate housing, health care, food to eat, and
something to do, it will be impossible to have true
peace in the world. This is where I would begin. This
is where I am beginning.
You have to address the basic core issues. Until we
understand what those issues are, how can there even
begin to be peace in the world? If we cannot even house
the homeless in this country, how can we expect to do
anything of real value elsewhere in the world? It is
the core issues that must be address and not just the
issues on the other side of the planet but the things
in our own backyard. This is what I hope to address at
some point in the future.
Peace in the world begins on the ground on which you
stand. One voice crying out for peace, one person
willing to stand up for peace, one person willing to
become a martyr for the cause of peace, one person
willing to help a stranger in need no matter what the
cost. Peace in the world begins on the ground on which
you stand. If you really want peace then you must
become a peaceful person and set an example before the
world.
Peace will begin when we start putting down our guns.
We need leaders who value honor and peace more than the
way of the world. We need to become a single voice
that cannot be ignored.
Love conquers all.
