Yeah. So... totally needed a new topic in here. Which is where this comes in.
=D
Don't mind me. Anyway... Movies. Yes, movies. Of all kinds, shapes, and sizes. Well... maybe just kinds as they're not really obscure sizes. Yeah, so, what kind of movies do you like to watch? Seen any good ones recently?
... Just post. xd

Good thread idea. We need more like this. razz
I watched Kung-Fu Hustle and V for Vendetta recently. Both were pretty good, although V for Vendetta was pretty heavy on the vulgarities, and I, being a goodie-two-shoes, don't have much care for that. razz

Awhhhh...
Soren is a goodie-two-shoes. Funny. xd
I like the older movies. Classics, I suppose. Uh... the Marx brothers, 'Gone With the Wind', the Road movies, Bing Crosby movies, Danny Kaye... etc.
Yeah. Like 'em all, really.
I'm really partial to musicals also.

The Marx brothers were awesome! xd Still... I haven't seen much of their stuff. But I watched a clip from this one game show that Groucho hosted, and MAN, that guy was sharp. He always had some witty comeback or pun to make (this is of course assuming that the show wasn't written before it was aired razz ).
I really would like to watch some of these old classics. I can only remember a few, and even then, not very well. Alfred Hitchcock's stuff is amazing, particularly Rear Window. Talk about suspense! O___O
Oooooooooooooooooklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plains! scream

I really liked V for Vendetta. I'm also the biggest potty mouth of the south.
I saw The Prestige recently. That movie was AWESOME! If you haven't seen it, I would recommend it.

Sorry this took a while to reply... my computer has been bitchy with me these past few days. --;
Anyway.
Soren: Groucho's show was You Bet Your Life. The contestants were interviewed before the show by producers and such so they could come up with a 'script' to their probable answers. Groucho would read over the script and that's why during some shows, you can see him with papers in his hand. However, since Groucho never met the contestants before the show, there was plenty room to adlib and most of the script went to hell. xd
I really like the Marx Brothers... though Groucho isn't my favourite. Harpo and Chico are my favourites, followed by Groucho and then Zeppo. I couldn't say for Gummo because he left the business before the guys went to the movies (he left in vaudeville because he got drafted into WWI, if I recall).
Alfred Hitchcock's stuff is amazing. =D
I can't recall titles of any classics right now (I'm tired as hell), otherwise I would recomend some. whee ;
Wranne: I loved the Presitge! I went and saw it at the theatre twice with my friends... then rented it the day it came out. It's a really good movie. I didn't have the patience to sit through V for Vendetta, though.

I saw an amazing musical the other night. The Pirate with Gene Kelly and Judy Garland. Funny as hell, with Gene getting more sculptors thrown at him than probably his whole career put together. There's a dance sequence aroud the middle that can get boring for non-dancers, as it lasts about five-ten minutes. It's worth it, though.
[/gushing]
Other musicals I recomend are...
The Band Wagon Anything Goes (1956 edition) Call Me Madam Singin' in the Rain Easter Parade An American in Paris (this one has a seventeen minute dance sequence at the end, if I recall) Grease On the Town White Christmas Brigadoon
And that's all for now. xd
OH! And a non-musical movie I really recomend is The Romance of Rosy Ridge with Van Johnson. Its plot is based around a solider after the Civil War who's in the south, but no one knows what side he was on in the war, since the color of his pants doesn't show much. I can't say much more than that, because I'd give away the whole movie. xd
Really, almost all of the classic movies are worth the time. And I can answer questions about a great deal of them... and recomend movies from that time for any genre you like.
I'm a real movie person. whee

i just saw The Prestige... i quite loved it. Especially David Bowie as Nikola Tesla... he was quite good in it, i thought. i don't watch a lot of movies... i see them, but i'm easily ...distracted... anyways. As soon as i go home again, i'm going to watch Terry Gilliam's Jabberwocky. That looks to be pretty good. And i just downloaded Star Trek: First Contact for my iPod. i'm a big science-fiction fan, and a Steppenwolf fan as well. First Contact has one of the best uses of Magic Carpet Ride i've ever heard.

Hehe, First Contact isn't bad. Magic Carpet Ride is awesome, though. razz They play that when they take off in Cochrane's ship, right?
I saw Eragon the other day. It wasn't that great... it's like they took a page from Star Wars and Lord of the Rings and couldn't think of anything to do beyond that. ninja I hear the book is much better.

SO! I just saw an awesome movie called Mrs. Henderson Presents... And guess what! It wasn't made in the Silver Screen Era. No! However... it is a period movie and the period happens to be 30s-40s. xd
Anyway, movie about a widow whose husband just died and now has loads of money to spare. She buys a theatre... I can't tell you the rest myself, but if you want plot spoliers, go to Wikipedia or IMDB. xd
And for all you guys out there that are going, "Ughh.. That Fairy/Torey and her old movies." this one has a lot of naked girls. =D
xd
Oh, my older brother went and took me to The Robinsons last night. Imagine our surprise when they showed a cartoon short before the movie! God, that made my night! I only ever hear about the cartoon shorts before movies from my grandparents and dad. Yep.
Oh, the movie was good, too. >>;
I also had an audience when I started tap dancing outside of the theatre to keep warm. ... 'Frickin' 11pm is cold in Northern Utah when you're in jeans and a T...

Jumping in, I really enjoy comedies. Stupid ones, musical ones, spoofs, witty ones-- I love to laugh, and I adore things that make me laugh. whee I think my favorite movie is The Blues Brothers, for the record. It's the perfect mix of music, humor, wit and great acting. 3nodding

I caught the last hour of Blues Brothers this afternoon. I haven't seen that movie in full for years! But I love it; it's one of my dad's favorites, too.

I'm going to be vague and say I enjoy good movies wink Most of the stuff I watch fit Popo's liking as well (more evidence that we were seperated at birth!!)... so if anyone wants to give it a knock, go watch 'Dummy'. Lovely little independant film, a little hard to find, but I'm sure eBay might have some in supply X) Plus, it stars Adrien Brody, which is such a bonus for me XD

I'm a real movie person. whee Ooh! Brigadoon! Our civic theare just did that! i wanted to act... i love all things Scottish. Unfortunately, there is only one bagpipe player in town. Me. They let me go up on stage to lead the funeral thing, though. My favourite movies are Braveheart, Spaceballs, Rob Roy, Labyrinth, and the Rocky Horror Picture Show, but not in that order. (Braveheart is first, and the other four are interchangeable.)
