This thread may contain spoilers, if the conversation happens to turn toward more recent books. Please don't just out and post "Blankety blank is eaten by a crazed wherry in Dragonthingermabobs of Pern!" I will spank you if you make a spoiler post that has no real point. And no, it's not the sort of spanking that is fun or enjoyable!
The intent of this thread is for discussion of Pern books that not all of the guildmembers have read yet, the series in general, and favorite/most hated scenes. It also has a secondary purpose; as a generic book discussion thread. If you've got a favorite author, share! If you absolutely hated a particular book, here's the place to warn others!
Please, if you're going to spoil something fairly big, put a disclaimer like "Contains Spoiler for (title of the book)" in bold at the top of your post, and make the spoiler itself white text.
I love finding out what other people like to read, and it's always a joy to run into someone with a similar opinion of a particular series.
To open this up, if anyone wants to discuss "Favorite scenes" from the Pern series, or any series in general.
I think that'd be a good starting point, and shouldn't (hopefully) contain too many huge "You just ruined the book for me! Gonk!" type spoilers. sweatdrop

And my favorite Pern scene was probably when Piemur was hiding from the fire lizards in Dragondrums. I really liked the method he used to convince them he wasn't there. xd

Yes, it's kind of like hiding your eyes and going, "You can't see me! I'm not here!" I loved that whole trilogy, it's still my favorite of the books, even if it is the first I read. I also dearly loved the White Dragon

*nod* Ruth and Jaxom rock; I love how we got to see it from two perspectives.
I just finished the lastest book in the Dresden Files; Blood Rites. Good book. Good series. heart Jim Butcher heart
... *cough* Trying to decide what to read next. I might go for a Mass Pern Reread, it's been uh ... a good few years now ... Optionally, I picked up The Stand (in the uncut edition) and an early Clive Barker book, which sounds interesting ...
Gyah. I'll probably drag out Dragonsdawn before bed.

That and Eyes of the Dragon are the only King books we've read. So far. Ray bought about half of the Dark Tower series at the same yardsale where she picked up The Stand... but she's waiting until she can get all of them together before reading 'em.

I like the scene where Jaxom tells off Toric... (spoiler if you have not read the White Dragon)
There is no place, no TIME where you could hide Sharra from Ruth and I...so shove it up your a$$! *last part added by me**halo*

Hmm...I don't remember the name of it, but my favorite Pern book is the first chronological one. Straight from Earth and into threadfall! ^^

I'll never get over the part where Sorka and Sean were helping Pol and Bay. Personally, though, one of my all-time favorites is the scene in "The Masterharper Of Pern", with the errand that Robinton and Groghe had...

Actually, Chronicales of Pern: First Fall was the first, I believe. It and Dragonsdawn were in the same timeframe... Speaking of books, a new one comes out in January...

Yes, it's called dragonsblood, but it's soley by Todd Mcaffrey. I'm going to read it once it comes out, see how it measures up. I still think the first ones were the best, the later ones, like the skies of pern, seemed to drop off a bit in interest for me.
